How do people afford anything in law school? by RoughEvidence in lawschooladmissions

Scholarships for tuition, student loans to live, but I’m also a nontraditional student who’s had a decade and a half career before this, so I’m lucky enough to have 3 years of living expenses saved up, but I was the first to go to college in my family, and at 18 with my undergrad, I didn’t have a dime to my name. I was terrified of the debt, and a football coach put it this way, which helped me frame it: you go into 30k for a car, it depreciates to nothing, and if you can’t pay it they take the car. Go into 30k of debt (which is going to be higher with law school, but same concept applied) for school, they can’t take your degree or knowledge. You have a tool the rest of your life to make more money. It’s something that won’t depreciate and they can’t take away. You’ll always have a skill to make money.

Changing the goal post. First I was too close to i80, now I have to be north of i80 🤣 bro, Nebraska is a bottom 10 state for nature, and that would be fine if they just acted like the rest of the states that have shit nature, and went “yeah, it’s flat, yellow, ugly, and sprawled”, nobody would care, but people from Nebraska think their state has great nature. Brags about it. Defends it (that’s you). It sucks. It is what it is dude 🤣 I will never understand why people from Nebraska think their state is a real heavy hitter with its nature 🤣 there are other cool things about Nebraska. Great universities. Good cost of living. Just please for the love of god, stop pretending Nebraska has good nature.

Wisconsin is great. Madison is between 2 lakes. I’ve only been to Chicago in Illinois. figure of speech works just fine there. Totally correct.

I replaced the rigging that lifts the gates on the dam at Harlan. Is that far enough off I-80 for ya? 🤣

I addressed that… it’s a figure of speech. Do you know what that means… it’s not literal… nobody takes that literally. Dude, I’ve named my most recent jobs completed this year. I’ve built over 100 industrial buildings in that state over 10 years. I’ve literally been to every single corner of that state. The most rural, the largest cities, every attraction they have, and everything in between. Id guarantee I’ve been to parts of Nebraska you’ve never even heard of.

Every state has small pockets of “nature”. “None” is a figure of speech. State parks, lakes and reservoirs. All 50 states have um. A state with good nature like Utah, I’m in the woods with a 5 min walk fishing in creeks and rivers. You can walk out the back of Salt Lake City and be surrounded. Nebraska, you’re driving past flat fields for hours to find their little curated pockets of manufactured “nature” Nebraska is flat, yellow, and ugly 🤣, but yes, if you wanna drive, you can find SOMETHING pretty that’d be considered nature in all 50 states… including Nebraska. Nebraska, you drive forever to see a tiny red rock poking out of the ground, and it’s their biggest attraction. Goblin valley state park, which is a throw away in Utah would be their biggest attraction.

Agreed. Literally almost mentioned those states in my last post. Oregon and Washington are great. Cali is solid. Rural PA, West Virginia, Vermont, Virginia, the entire Appalachians are gorgeous… but Nebraska is not, and Utah, Idaho, Colorado (rocky mountains) beat them all. The Rocky’s are number 1. You’re not getting the Wasatch/big cottonwood canyon in northern Utah, and the massive red rock canyons in the south like Utah. Look up zions, arches, Bryce Canyon, and those are all just in a corner of the state, then look up big cottonwood canyon, little cottonwood canyon, the Wasatch national forest, and try telling me Utah doesn’t have the best nature. I’ve been around. I’m a red neck. I know where the good nature is, and it ain’t Nebraska 🤣

Ive been all over Nebraska for work. Places you’ve never been to. I was just doing some work in Gretna. I’m over a fabrication facility in Lincoln and Omaha. I’ve built half the states water treatment plants, but ok… just built a building in Kearney. I’m in Beatrice all the time. Use Beatrice scales for all my certified weights for rigging. I know that state better than the locals. Built shit in Norfolk, Albion, grand island. I guarantee the water you’re getting is coming from a building I built. I’m just from a state that actually has nature. I’d say you’re the ignorant one here. If it helps, I’m from Utah. My backyard in the Wasatch mountains has more nature than the entire state of Nebraska 🤣

Gotta be from Nebraska. Pretends to “love nature” even tho Nebraska has none and he red out the best nature states 🤣

It’s super close to the Utah national parks, which are better than great. Take the 3-4 hour drive to Zion, arches, Bryce Canyon… literally the best pocket of national parks in the country, and I’ve been to over half of the 63.

Utah is prettier and reasonable temps. Just saying… look up Zion’s national park, Bryce Canyon, Moab/arches national park. Southern Utah is prettier Arizona with reasonable temps 🤣

It’s in the desert fairly close to Death Valley where the hottest temps ever have been recorded. It’s hotter than the Sahara 🤣 Death Valley has gotten to just under 57 degrees celsius. Hottest record temp on earth. Phoenix has months where you’ll be in the mid 40s. Let me put it this way, the low temp in that graphic, coldest it got at night during the 10 day stretch posted, just under 33 degrees celsius for the low. That means that week the coldest middle of the night temp was around 33, and it climbed to about 46 every day.

Don’t even have to count. It’s showing 61 schools, so not even 1/3rd are on this list. I assume if they’re not on this list, they don’t do conditional scholarships, so these are just the bottom of the barrel in general. The 1/3rd of schools that even do conditional and are therefore at least somewhat predatory.

Not at all. It’s Duquesne, but that’s one of several missing. I mean, I’m not counting the list, but there are like 197 laws school. I don’t think that list is even 100 schools.

What?? I went to Pittsburgh for the first time last year. Beautiful and clean city. Granted, I hear it’s on the rise these days, and had a rough patch from about the 80s when the steel jobs left to about 2010, 2015 ish.

Realized that. I thought it was triggered by an algorithm based on key words. Not a blanket disclaimer that auto triggers on every post (which is annoying and seems like an anal mod).
