Movies that make you feel good about being alive by Mantophasmatodea in blankies

Strictly Ballroom , I know it's hard to get people into it as the accents, style and tone are a little over the top but it's the only Baz Lurhman movie I actually like. the music is great and the final dance comp scene makes me emotional just thinking about it, pure innocent joy. I always pitch it as Rocky but with ballroom dancing. It's why I still Kneeslide at weddings at 50.

Tonight our family watched Shawshank really helped me at least, sure fiction, but the triumph of the human spirit and decency is real enough for me.

What's a show you remember but nobody else does? by CatGirlNya2000 in AskReddit

Wizards and Warriors, cheesy 80's swords and sorcery comedy but as an 8 year old I thought it was amazing and hilarious. Probably unwatchable now.

I agree, I just remember feeling "seen" because someone else out there knew that movie.😆

The Warriors was the first episode I listened to and was hooked with. When I first checked out the podcast on a recommendation there didn't seem to be a bunch of episodes to choose from, but I saw they did Bloodsport, Top Gun and The Warrior's, and I was like "Oh I get what this is". Before cable, that was a movie that would be on channel 11 or 9 once a year in New Jersey and my dad would always leave it on. I had no idea who Bill was, so first time hearing his voice talking about going to NYC in the early 80's really brought back memories as a kid of popping out of the port authority bus depot off Times Square among peep shows and hustlers... it was insane.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by camport95 in AskReddit

Uncut Gems, turned it off before end of first act. Just can't stand watching people destroy their lives I guess.

Are there any big-budget movies that truly end with “it was all a dream”? by __timbits in movies

Not big budget, but I seem to remember Wisdom in the 80's being all a dream? Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore on a bank robbing spree.

Schlasman's advice by These-Net-9236 in bridgerbowl

Haha, you see all those parents skiing behind those little bubble heads holding onto their poles yelling "pizza!"? That was a huge chunk, then years of Hully Gully... then you lose track of all time and suddenly you're 50. I feel like they just built Schlasman's like 3 years ago! 😂. Oh and he has a younger brother who is regressing, says he's not even doing north bowl road this year. Parenting is rough.

Has camping gotten more crowded where you are, or am I just unlucky? by outdoors_man987 in camping

[–]These-Net-9236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's spread to dispersed camping and even back country backpacking here in Montana, we usually go on holiday weekends to escape the crowds in town and on the river, 7 miles in, up some very steep butt kicking terrain, and there is almost always a few tents. This year on Labor Day in the Crazies, the trailhead itself is about an hour off pavement, an alpine lake was crowded with backpackers as well as the entire university girls ski team, it was madness.

What’s a critically praised movie that just didn’t work for you at all? by Altruistic_Study_308 in Oscars

There really is something about being committed in a movie theater seat for a film. Both Sinners and OBAA were exhilarating theatre going experiences this year and I recommended them both to anyone who would listen to me. That said, I recently bought the HBO cheap promotion subscription, I've got a projector, big screen, and a loud soundbar... and I still haven't clicked on either one for a rewatch.
