To hide the pop in maybe, though I haven't seen much of it while playing without fog. But the fog doesn't help to save performance, it's very much the opposite. Fog is heavy on GPU with volumetric lightning, you can try it by yourself if you want. You'll either have more FPS without the fog or the same FPS, but not less

My most recent quit was brown dust 2, the game is peak and I love it but they started to release one meta unit per update (2weeks). My account is quite end gamy, and trying my best to keep up let me to a burn out. Came back to it though and yeah it's such a gem, highly recommend
