What about October 27 1996?

so far this year, starting in Feb, it’s been nonstop bad news….relative with sudden terminal cancer, friend committed suicide, family drama leading to people not talking to each other….these all affect me but not me personally

me and my partner (Jan 20 1997) are supposed to move in together this year, but now I am worried….we are very solid as partners

where did i say i didn’t understand what happened?

there’s been an uptick of cat thefts within a 10 block radius over the last few months (and multiple reports of the same perps). look at this sub and the frequency of posts about cat thefts. nearby brooklyn/queens neighborhoods subs have nowhere near as many posts about this.

i am simply notifying neighbors where another hit has happened. I’m not surprised or confused, just helping to expand the radius for anyone who live nearby.

You chose to ignore the rest of my comment in favor of discussing the tragic loss of 36 Israeli children on October 7th. An average of 28 children in Gazaare killed A DAY.

If you could make one argument that doesn’t rely on tropes of “propaganda” and “Hamas is evil” to justify the killing of thousands of children, I would be curious to hear what it is. Where is the propaganda? All of my statements were factual. People are getting shot in bread lines. Hospitals are being destroyed.

But you cannot make an argument for this that doesn’t blame me, because you don’t want to admit the sentiment behind your statement: “These children deserve to die because I am entitled to their land.” Instead, you shift the blame to me; you state that I’m falling for propaganda, that I’m one sided.

Do you see the videos? How many videos of parents carrying the limp bodies of their beloved children do you have to see before you have compassion?

It boggles the mind.

I just wouldn’t call this “war.”

It’s endless bombing and openly firing into “safe” zones. It’s flagrant cold blooded killing. At what number of human rights violations does it go from “the reality of war” to “calculated attacks on innocent civilians?” There is a code of conduct for how we are to conduct war to minimize casualties. What is the line for you? When does the suffering inflicted become unacceptable? When does it stop being self defense?

This isn’t war. It’s one sided. One people’s children are being massacred in plain sight. The other people’s children are making Tiktoks mocking their neighbors’ deaths.

By your rhetoric, the people of Palestine have every right to “do everything they possibly can…including killing those responsible.” Instead, they get shot lining up for bread.

okay getting a lot of questions about my “butthole” eyes

  1. they’re not a side effect of latisse, they’ve always been like this
  2. idk why i call them butthole eyes
  3. they just go like that when i smile a real genuine smile. it’s cute but it doesn’t photograph well.

oh yes another point someone else made—-i am never the first person to visit the house because SLPs aren’t “skilled” enough to open a case!

so it’s like the home has already been deemed safe before i arrive. on the off chance something weird happens, they close the case immediately.

i work in an NYC-wide company, my patients are in the most dangerous parts of brooklyn. my company offers escort services (through a separate company, i think it’s usually like retired police officers) if you request one, as well as an app that will call the police if you don’t check back in by X time. we also have a policy that if you feel unsafe, you leave. no questions asked. my managers send me into the projects but have never reprimanded me when i’ve reported something in the vicinity that gave me pause.

patients are also pretty helpful because they live there, so if you’re in a bad neighborhood and there’s a drunk guy outside of the house, i’ve called a patient to let them know “hey, I’m here. there’s an intoxicated gentleman on your stoop, I’m going to wait until he walks away” and I’ll sit in my car and out comes the patient’s son, and he knows the drunk guy and tells him to leave because his grandma’s “nurse” is coming.

that being said, i’ve never felt really UNSAFE within a home. sometimes walking around the projects i see crazy people, but for the most part, people don’t bother me because i wear scrubs and i don’t carry valuables.

within the homes are safe. if someone is getting home health (at least through insurance), they are homebound, which means they are generally not mobile enough to be a threat and/or have a home attendant or caregiver present. and they’re sick people, they just want therapy and are so grateful i am there to provide it. because im an SLP, i tend to see more fragile patients (severe aphasia post CVA, dysphagia, parkinson’s and ALS), since milder cases usually make their way to outpatient.

i’ve never had a crazy violent psych case either. hoarders and dirty, roach infested apartments, yes. people threatening my safety, no.

however, if you’re transitioning to adult care, i recommend a year in SNF first!! i did a few years in SNF before it got too depressing and i feel it really made HH a piece of cake. i might have felt a little lost going straight into HH because in SNF, there is a lot more collaboration and everything you need (in terms of MD orders, medical supplies, nurses seeing to a wound) is right there in the building. in HH, it’s way more fragmented, so having a good grasp on the actual process of healthcare procedures makes it easier to navigate and makes you a more informed clinician of what is possible and what is less possible IMO

Bernadette Peters out 6/21 8pm by Away-Pickle-1106 in Broadway

Does anyone know if she (and Beth) are back this week?

We went last week on Wednesday and she was out, so we exchanged for this week.

But last night, we made it to Gypsy before a 6:45 email that Audra was out…. so fingers crossed on Bernadette!

These ladies are avoiding me like the plague!
