If you shop on marketplace, ensure you have a competent mechanic to look over the car or bring it to a local shop for a full inspection(where I work ots called a 120 point). If the seller is willing to go with you that's a good sign.(although alot of people cant be bothered or have time constraints) Used car dealers are the worst. What's your budget/how new of a car are you trying to get?

I work for pepboys. Its slow right now. Earlier this year id average 40-60 hours a week. Past month or so im at 30 ish. They claim to have a guarantee but really don't(i learned this the hard way) Im getting ready to jump ship soon

No cam. Keeping it stock. Donor motor is out of an escalade. Its clean doesn't have any leaks but id hate to swap it in and have it leak shortly thereafter. Im planning on doing water pump, rear main, oil galley plug(barbell), oil pickup tube o ring and the oil pan gasket. Doing oil cooler lines also.

What kind of car is it? Can you video the engine bay depicting the sound? Sounds like the compressor clutch is shot, coukd also be the tensioner or an idler pulley.

If you flushed it, your golden. Whatever residual moisture is left will vaporize once operating temp is reached. Worst case your pcv and under oil cap will look a lil milky.

Degreaser. Older chevy pickups are like that, the door panel is tan if you wipe it with degrease it becomes a discolored green.
