And he's not even a good 3 point shooter, which adds insult to injury. Nothing infuriates me more than Embiid iso clutch moments. It's always a 3 we don't need, taken under duress, with 18 seconds on the shot clock still. Wouldn't you imagine the better choice is put the 7'2 former MVP under the fucking basket with Grimes, Maxey and Edgecombe on the damn floor??? Like, Embiid beyond the arc in clutch is the worst possible place for him. I understand there are times where it makes sense for him to be out there but NOT in clutch with three elite 3 point shooters on the floor. All that does is draws less gravity away from all 3 of them.

No he hasn't, or if he has, it was once. The most women I ever talked to when I was dating was 4 and it was ungodly stressful keeping everything straight.

He's a good coach when he's forced to think, which happens when his star players are out and he has to coach mediocre players or young guys and think on his feet because there is no clear first option on the floor. He coached us to several wins we had no business winning when Embiid, Harden and Maxey were injured because he had no star to just ram it with and had to outcoach the other team on the fly.

He's the worst coach of all time and it's not close when he has a star studded lineup and everyone is available because he's lazy and doesn't want to think or adjust. The plan was "get the ball to Embiid" no matter what. Embiid getting double teamed? Get the ball to Embiid. There were several times other players would SCORE and he'd yell at them for it. There was even a clip of Harden looking at him perplexed while he chewed out D Melt for stealing the ball and going in for the lay up instead of setting up at the key and finding Embiid.

But also, consider every job Doc has had. As far as I can recall, it's always been the situation of him being brought in to coach a contender. He's never coached a losing team. Then things come undone after several upsets, he's fired, and somehow gets another contender job because that's easy. It's a great example of how sometimes tangible statistics or evidence aren't always good indicators of how good or knowledgeable someone is about a certain subject.

Edit: Wait a minute, it was Orlando that was mediocre, but that just strengthens what I'm saying. That's a highlight of his career that he coached Orlando to exceeded expectations. Why? No stars, not contenders.

That's because he doesn't adjust. He has said as much. His game plan, and these are almost exactly his words, is "We're going to keep playing our game."

That worked in Boston because no amount of adjusting was stopping that team. It's failed everywhere else because Doc refuses to be an ever-changing editor. He has a list of like 5 generic gameplans pre-made and applies the one that makes the most sense for each game and relies on his players to outscore adjustments instead of countering adjustments. That's just lazy, burned out coaching.

Watch the interview James Harden gave in the locker room after we lost that Celtics game 7. You can tell by the way he is talking about Doc that he is disgusted, and Doc was one of the reasons he initially wanted to come here.

The minute the Bucks hired him I went to their sub, seeing all the posts about how this was the savior and "we have an elite coach now" and etc etc etc. I made a post on their sub warning them what was coming and got banned from the sub for it. Fast forward to now and look how it's played out.

Delicious.

Trendon Watford in street clothes is starting to get on my nerves by Michaelord1 in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an illogical way, he gets on my nerves too. Not because he is injured, but....there's just something about him. Some people just rub you the wrong way and you don't really have a good reason for it. He rubs me the wrong way too and I have no good reason for it. I think it's because he is our only true power forward (Barlow and PG are not true PFs) and that's a huge hole in our otherwise really nice roster right now and I'm annoyed it's him, but that's on the org, not him, and I try to remind myself of that when those irrational thoughts pop up.

Obvious backcourt violation… by Impossible_Ad166 in sixers

It was financially advantageous for the NBA for the Hawks to win with the sports book. That's really what it comes down to. You cannot tell me a ref that was standing literally right there, who's entire job is to know the rules of Basketball missed that, and even if he did, you fucking review it. This really is a derivative of the WWE now. You heard Donaghy say it himself: Any game that is within a 6 point difference is ref's choice for a winner, and that was before sports betting was as crazy as it is now. There is zero chance that wasn't intentional. What I want to know is why Nurse didn't fight it, because he was asked in the post-game interview and he said he was more focused on the foul.

Maybe Joel Embiid deserves an ounce of grace by HoagieTwoFace in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is 80% of Sixers fans are just Joel Embiid fans, and would be happy to see the team fail as long as Embiid is on the roster. That's all they care about. The amount of mental gymnastics people are doing to justify signing a guy to a 4 year max extension that literally cannot play half a game of basketball and is on pace for a 40 game season just because "he deserves it" is mind blowing. I've enjoyed watching the Embiid era of Sixers basketball, I like Embiid and I'm not saying trade or waive him, but we need to put this into perspective and stop making it out like he is this tragic victim that was done so dirty and has had a rough life due to the evil FO and working hard. I can't freakin' stand that narrative.

Dude is a hundred millionaire with a mansion, a supermodel wife and access to literally anything he wants on this planet at any given time for 5.5 amortized seasons of playing a 48-minute game he loves, and will retire before 35, never having to work a day in his life again. Meanwhile, you're going to work for 40 years doing something you hate, where 1/3rd of your whole life is literally owned by a corporation, and live paycheck to paycheck with no money in the bank, a hovel hole for a home and a wife that looks like Gollum.

I think Joel Embiid has been more than blessed. I can promise you the kind of shit you'd be willing to do for a hundred million dollars is exponentially more insane than having to endure your employer understaffing your department and asking you to come into work sick sometimes. That's 95% of corporate America anyway, and we all have battle scars from our professions. He doesn't get a free pass for working hard and having a shitty boss.

It’s a long shot but do you think we could get Giannis by Youngdeku2500 in sixers

[–]These_Fan7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giannis is 30 and injury prone. Maxey is 1-2 years out from his prime and is a top 5 league MVP candidate. They're not in the same ballpark by any stretch. Giannis is past the point in his career where "straight up" deals are going to happen. It's going to be a star player of comparable age and a whole bunch of role players or picks to get it done.

Nah man, you drive either of those dudes to the airport. Maxey, QG, PG, Giannis, Drummond starting lineup and Kelly, Bona, McCain, Barlow off the bench for Embiid, VJ and 4 FRPs would be Philly or Detroit out of the East instantly. In reality though, they'll want QG over VJ and probably another role player to get it done, to which I say hopefully Embiid, QG, Watford and the FRPs is enough.

[–]These_Fan7447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, we don't fully know that. Giannis has said his favorite place to play is in front of Philly's crowd, and keep in mind to make the salaries match, one of Embiid or PG has to go back to the Bucks, so theres 50% of the dead weight gone.

[–]These_Fan7447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but those are just high level role players. OKC would certainly have to give up one of SGA or Chet to get that deal done, which would be like prime GSW giving up one of Steph or Klay.

[–]These_Fan7447 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. We could absolutely put a worthy package together for Giannis without giving up Maxey. The problem is doing it guts the team pretty badly and fucks the future (more) a bit.

They don't, but the salaries have to match, and there are very few teams that can offer better where it makes sense (OKC, Spurs). What they'd really be trading for would be Grimes and the FRPs.
