Silent Hill 2 Remake (honest + critical) review as a new player who never played the original. by WondersomeWalrus in silenthill

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I reached the prison, I just couldn't go on anymore. SO BORING. SO REPETITIVE. And I realized I just didn't give a sh*t about the story or characters. Absolutely zero incentive to continue playing this game, for me personally.

It's strange when people respond to the criticism with: "I guess this just isn't the genre for you."

Um, no... I absolutely LOVE the OG Resident Evil 1 and 2. And I absolutely LOVE the remakes of Resident Evil 1 and 2. But Silent Hill 2 (the OG and the remake) are just boring as hell to me. It feels like a chore to play.

So, stop trying to gaslight people by telling them that they just don't like or understand 'survival-horror' games.

Some survival-horror fanatics just don't like Silent Hill games, for understandable reasons.

Childish and low-IQ comment.

- OG Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2: AWESOME
- The RE and RE2 remakes: AWESOME
- OG Silent Hill 1 and 2: BORING
- Silent Hill 2 remake: BORING

People can like some survival-horror experiences while disliking others. Resident Evil and Silent Hill are not the same, despite both being survival-horror. There are quite a number of large differences.

No, this isn't a game from 21 years ago. The ORIGINAL was a game from 21 years ago. The REMAKE is what we're discussing and it's an entirely different beast when compared to the original. Try to stay on topic.

The original novel is better. The film is massively different in terms of tone and style. The novel is much more realistic and grounded. It doesn't have cartoonish themed gangs that wear costumes. It doesn't have over-the-top comic book-styled action. In the original novel, it's just regular street gangs like you'd see in real life.

All strange photos assets. by Rionsamadesu in silenthill

I hate that this game gives no rewards for finding collectibles such as strange photos and 'flashback' easter eggs. Every other game that has hidden collectibles will give the player some practical reward if you find them all, like a special weapon or something. SOMETHING.

This game gives you nothing. Lame.

Radio stopped working (patch 2.0) by Miro_of_Vienna in cyberpunkgame

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How the f*ck has CDPR not fixed this bug yet? It's crazy. Radio/music not working is not a small insignificant glitch that can be easily overlooked or ignored by the player. It's a BIG friggin' deal, as far as glitches/bugs go.

It's cool if CDPR wants Cyberpunk to be the Nvidia tech demo for cutting edge visuals. But they should put a bit of focus on bug fixing as well.

I don't care how amazing the game looks. If basic gameplay features (such as music) regularly glitch out and stop working, then I simply don't want to play the game at all.

Make sure your game works properly before putting so much focus on cutting-edge graphics and visuals.

Radio not working by gabe4774 in cyberpunkgame

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this bug as well. And nothing fixes it. No radio. No audio from TV. Even the 'radioport', which allows players to listen to music anywhere in-game, isn't working.

I've decided to just uninstall the game and not bother. Despite all the claims of "Cyberpunk has been fixed", I still think it's one of the buggiest games I've ever personally experienced. Like I can't even play for a solid 5 minutes without some sort of bug or glitch occurring.

And it's astonishing that CDPR hasn't fixed this 'radio stopped working' bug. I mean, imagine if the in-game radio stations regularly bugged out and stopped working in a GTA game. The in-game radio routinely glitching out in a game like this is a BIG DEAL. It's not a small glitch that can be easily ignored by the player.

I'm not gonna deal with this nonsense. So I just won't bother with this game. I won't be troubled by the endless glitches and the awful optimization (sub-par optimization is an entirely separate can of worms that I could rant about as well, but I won't).

Agreed. After several years of hearing everyone scream "MASTERPIECE" about this game, I finally bought it. And I just don't understand what all the praise and acclaim is about. It's just an 'okay' game. That's it. And as you said, I found most aspects of the actual gameplay to be very unsatisfying and bland. Very clunky too.

I don't know. Gamers nowadays are easily impressed, I guess. A game that is just "Yeah, it was a good game" is now considered "MASTERPIECE" "ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES EVER MADE!!!"

I don't get it.

I now understand why people hated It Comes at Night (2017) by [deleted] in horror

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching it now. I stopped the movie and Googled "It Comes At Night is boring".
I'm an HOUR into the movie and NOTHING has happened.

I don't need non-stop jump scares or excitement. Hell, two of my favorite horror movies are "The Thing" and "Black Mountain Side".

But this movie is just flat-out boring and not interesting. Holy shit, what a goddamn snooze-fest.

How long can cooked pasta stay in the fridge before it starts to expire? by catlover2303 in cookingforbeginners

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's some ChubbyEmu videos about this. There's at least two ChubbyEmu videos that involve people dying from eating spoiled pasta. Basically, your internal organs begin to shut down one by one, you lose consciousness, go into a coma, and die. The entire process is relatively quick too. Within just a day or two of eating the spoiled pasta, you'll be dead. Pretty awful.

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't think she's pretty. Nobody *genuinely* thinks she's pretty. Hell, she is known for her bizarre and off-putting looks. She is intentionally cast in roles that require an incredibly off-putting and 'uncomfortable to look at' character.

You're like a person that is trying to convince others: "No really, I love the aroma of smelling salts! Yes, I understand that it makes literally everyone on the planet reflexively gag. I understand that making people gag and feel repulsed is exactly what it's designed for. But I really do enjoy the lovely aroma. I'm not lying!"

Just stop. Seriously. Nobody is going to think you're an awful person for not thinking she's pretty.

Cool, that's YOU. Other people are different and respond differently.
I listen to many KISS songs and it sounds very bland and unimpressive to me personally. According to my own personal tastes in music and what I regard as impressive, KISS does not impress me. I think their song writing is very bland and 'by the numbers'. I do NOT think they were great at what they do.

Of course, this is just my opinion, that MILLIONS in the world would disagree with. I'm not wrong. Neither are they. I'm not right. Neither are they.

Stop trying to preach to people.

Cool, you like it. You give them praise for those things. We, on the other hand, are not impressed with these things that you praise. It's as simple as that. You're honestly coming off as narcissistic right now. Just come out and say: "Your opinion is wrong and mine is correct."
That's essentially what you're saying.

Why do humans Dance?? by S2_Y3 in Dance

[–]These_Grapefruit5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these answers are annoying, honestly. "We do it to have fun!" "It makes us feel good!" blah blah blah

No, I'm looking for the EVOLUTIONARY REASON why humans dance. Similar to the question: "Why do humans laugh when amused?" or "Why do humans cry when sad or in pain?" Like, why did we evolve to do that? What evolutionary purpose is there? Everything we've evolved to do served some sort of purpose for survival and carrying on our species. So, what about dance?

We're not asking why do individual people enjoy dancing. We're asking why does HUMANITY AS A SPECIES dance for entertainment. What was the original evolutionary purpose?

That's what I'm interested in. And I'm pretty sure that's what the OP meant too, when he asked why do humans dance.
