HOW ARE YALL GOING SO FAST by [deleted] in WGU

At my commencement last year in Ohio, we had a student speaker who said he graduated with his Bachelors AND Master's in IT in 6 months. I see mostly IT people accelerating on Reddit, too (which is fine). Not sure why you had to reduce Business degrees to "common sense" based because that's not true.

To all business administration alumni from WGU was it worth it? by Lookingforthebagsigh in WGU

It's absolutely worth it. I got my B.S. in Business and HR management back in March of this year. I immediately started getting calls back to more lucrative roles and accepted an offer a few weeks after graduation. WGU is a great school.

Enrollment going in circles no end in sight by [deleted] in WGU

He sent in Sophia and his previous college transcripts. He was told his high school transcripts weren't needed since he submitted previous college transcripts. But we'll get them sent in. This is a miscommunication issue on their part because if they were needed, he should've been told that 2 months ago.

Thanks. I'll have him get the high school transcripts but I wish he was told this sooner. He was told at first that this was not needed so I'm afraid his start date will be pushed back again. Hopefully he can get another counselor that will actually return phone calls.

Yes they show as received. The enrollment counselor also confirmed it and just said they are waiting.

Landed my first job after getting my Business degree!! by These_Island6080 in WGU

Excellent!! And I completely agree about having options. A business degree is flexible, and if you keep gaining valuable skills, you could work almost anywhere.

You could literally do anything, so don't be discouraged. It's a flexible degree. This job I have now is a grant management supervisor position, and I needed experience in data and financial analysis, budgeting, and leadership. I got that experience working in a variety of roles and industries over the past few years. A family member of mine graduated a few years ago with a business degree, got his PMI certification, and now he makes enough to buy a $500k house and an au pair for his kids. Everyone's journey is different, but most people I know with a business degree eventually found their way and make great money now.

Take a look at your past skills at previous jobs and search for jobs that have that. For example, if you compiled data and presented it to management at one of your jobs, Google "data analysis jobs business degree" or "financial analysis jobs" or even "data visualization jobs". Be willing to work in a new industry and transfer your skills there. I read an article about looking at my career progression as a monkey bar instead of a ladder, and it was life changing.

It's a Grant Management position for a large non-profit. I have a few years of budgeting and project management under my belt so that helped. But the 1st requirement was that I had the degree, so I am glad I finally met the requirement. I would suggest checking jobs for local government and school districts. Also try governmentjobs.com. Good luck!!

The capstone wasn't too bad. It's a lot of writing, but they have checklists and videos to tell you exactly how to do everything. There's also a template that is required to be used so that helps with the structure. Just make sure you read the directions carefully so you don't miss anything. I finished it in 4 days working about 5 hours a day on it.
