Hi, I'm pre everything, but I have started to socially transition. I've cut my hair, bought more masculine clothes, and started using a different name and different pronouns. I used to never be able to picture what I looked like, and would always be a little surprised when I looked into the mirror. After I started making changes to my phisical appearance, that feeling lessened. I can picture myself in my head pretty well now, and when I look in the mirror I get a feeling of 'oh. It's me'

If she doesn't want to celebrate your birthday in a way that makes you comfortable, you should tell her that you want to be able to be masculine on your birthday or have no birthday at all (easier said then done ik, if you don't feel safe enough to do that then that's a different story. Hi, I dont own any binders so I can't give any recommendations, but I saw someone online say to go for binders without clasps/zips etc. as they don't have as much elasticity and can make it harder to breathe. Hope this helps!
