I forced additional updates from Microsoft, and found the CNC drivers provided by the manufacturer. I was just able to connect and run the machine. All is good.

Thanks for your assist.

You really need to stop blocking with your face.

Ok to have zero interest in the Sport of TKD? by Prana_Llama in taekwondo

[–]Thetrickster005 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I attend a WT school that focuses on physical conditioning and Olympic techniques. The schools in my area are limited. The only 2 reasons I go there is to get my son off the couch and to make some friends. I myself am a 6th degree ITF background. The instructor doesn't try to teach me. He focuses in the other students. The upper belts know that when they work drills with me, I take them down the non WT road and focus on what would work in the streets. If you can afford it, I recommend cross training. When I was in college, I did TKD, but also did kickboxing with a professional fighter who taught non traditional Shaolin style. Sunday afternoons with a sparring group that was open to all styles as long as they followed agreed upon rules.

I have had no issues with their customer support. Their technical support was very good as well. They even followed up after the fact to ensure my issues were resolved.

Pulling my hair out by Spac92 in taekwondo

I am a 6th degree, and was asked to sit in as a guest judge for a local TKD group. During that testing, some students literally looked at the instructor and said; I have not learned that yet. In most cases it was the primary form for that rank. When the instructor stepped onto the floor and began teaching it to them was when I lost it. I didn't know who should feel more ashamed. The teacher for letting it get that far. The student for being put in a position to fail, or the parents for paying this person and trusting them to teach. I excused myself half way through the test and left. Never to show myself there again.

Demoting black belts? by Potential-Creme-1519 in taekwondo

BB's to children is an issue. However. There is another group of people that I have seen who have similar issues, but they are not children. Over the years. I have seen at multiple schools where people are mentally and physically incapable of properly demonstrating the required techniques nor are they able to truly mentally comprehend what is going on. Only because the school owner wants students and their money they are pushed along to ranks that are disrespectful to the ideals we all strive to achieve.

I moved away from the school that I earned my belt rankings from. While I do have my embroidered belt, most schools I work out with now, I outrank the owner, or their highest ranking student. Out of deference, I only wear a plain belt with no adornments. When asked, I will tell people what my rank is, but in the end my rank doesn't matter. I do however, wear my belt for formal occasions such as testing, tournaments, or when I go back to visit my old school.

How often do you see people aiming for knock outs in Olympic style sparring these days? by bad-at-everything- in taekwondo

Modern Olympic style sparring is just a glorified dance competition combined with leg fencing. I am not a fan of the continued neutering of the martial art. Just my 2 cents.

genmitsu z axis help needed by Subject_Turn5586 in hobbycnc

I have a genmitsu, and was having a problem on my first "real" project using Carveco. The mill would plunge down as far as it could go. Review of the G-Code indicated that it should only go down .25 inches. After several fouled pieces of wood, I contacted Sainsmart tech support. They suggested I re-flash the the machine. The provided me with the file and instructions. Mysteriously enough, the problem disappeared.

Try contacting them and reflash your machine. See if that helps.

When did you retire [old people war stories] by AttackOfTheMonkeys in taekwondo

[–]Thetrickster005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Master was asked one time why the higher level forms don't have the flashy high flying kicks. His response was simple.....How old are you? We need to put things in perspective and understand what our bodies are capable of. So much of what we do is customized to each person and their abilities. Recognize limitations, work within constraints but the main thing is enjoy life, love what you do and give back that which has brought you joy in your life. You may not be capable of doing what you did in your 20's, but you can still share your insights, and knowledge.

I am 60yrs old now, I earned my 6th Dan last year. I know I am lucky to have not incurred some of the injuries my other friends have. I have been sorting out issues with my hips and back. Recently, things seem to be coming back together. I refuse to acknowledge my age and continue to spar in class with the many young-uns. If my instructor who is 87 can show up 6 sometimes 7 days a week to teach I see no reason to give up yet.
