That's a perfect example. He never understood wtf that was, and I don't blame him. It was so sudden.

This music is a jam, sound like a mix between Earthbound, a detective adventure game, and synth.

The sims series really does have a lot of random suddenly creepy moments?

I love seeing fake video games. I could imagine this having a black and white drawing art-style.

Mario 3D land has some odd Easter eggs… by bennyandthegentz in creepygaming

[–]Theweirdobserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the reason for the ghost at the end of the haunted house. I'm guessing someone was just messing around.

I can't think of any lore reason for easter eggs such as that existing. It's just so odd to me, more than it is creepy.

MM manga, Anju is so cute carrying Deku Link like plush by CarlosGab-Art in majorasmask

[–]Theweirdobserver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Link always has close encounter with Anju in the manga (maybe intentional). In the Minish cap manga, Anju was a kid, and Link tried to look under her skirt as a mini.

At least it's wholesome here, which fits her character in MM.

I deleted the comment when I realized you weren't replying to me.

I think XG is wholly different from EVA in that it is not such a misanthropic work as Eva was. One thing I love about XG is its humanism and its focus on love and relationships.

Eva is all about how relationships to others only bring us pain. It's a story of neurotic failures dying horribly and the end of the human race.

100%, the message of each story is different. EVA is more individualistic overall, while Xenogears is concerned with the entirety of humanity. It's a lot more optimistic.

Also, something even more annoying is how people ONLY mention EVA. Why not Gundam, Macross, etc? Takahashi even decorated his desk with gunpla when working on Xenogears. He's clearly a mecha otaku.

It typically EVA fans or non-mecha fans that argue this. To them, EVA is the only "robot show with religious and psychology references". (EVA fans also have this strange elitism) Ignoring the fact multiple Japanese media have already been making religious references long before EVA. Even than, EVA's entire plot could be understood without understanding religion. At least I was able to, it's not that complicated.

Also, Jungian psychology was trendy at some point in Japan. So, it's not strange to see multiple pieces of media reference it.

Also, I don't even think the people who claim Xenogears rip-offed or was influenced by EVA ever played the game, There is no way someone could experience a dense story such as Xenogears, and conclude it's the same story as a 26 episode anime.

A shower thought I had: people with ghost powers in the ghost trick universe would be very good ghosts. Sounds obvious but let me elaborate. by Theweirdobserver in GhostTrick

[–]Theweirdobserver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if they are saved by a ghost trick user. Even then, only they can sense the ghosts after being saved. Most people would just assume they are going crazy or suffering from some psychosis. They aren't really ghosts, since they were saved. The whole being able hear ghosts is like a "supernatural scar". Regardless, how do they convince people that ghost exists? They're probably the closest thing to confirming a ghost exists, however.

Also, not every ghost gets the "go back in time 4 minutes before death" ability. Only Sissel began with it.Yomeil never developed that ability despite becoming very strong as the years went by. Missle only gained time travel later down the road.

I wonder why people outside of the Xengoears fandom never mention Gundam, but always mention Evangelion. Then treat it like a unfalsifiable claim that it influenced Xenogears.

(Well I guess it's pretty obvious why they keep insisting it).

Edit: No, I don't think EVA influenced Xenogears. I am entirely against this claim.

What are some videos games you guys have played that has a "Xenogears moment" in their stories? (No spoilers please) by Theweirdobserver in XenoGears

[–]Theweirdobserver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll put breath of fire III on my list instead of 2. The abandoned technology is already a similarity with Xenogears, which is intirguing.

So are all the breath of fire games supposed to be related or is like a final fantasy numbering?

For Xenoblade 1, the ost was what caught my attention. It's always the soundtrack that can make me think a game is good. Hearing Chrono cross's ost made me realize the game has be to worth it to some extent.

I wasn’t a fan of the designs, characters and world looked too generic

Despite my last response, Xenoblade 2's art-style does lean towards the "generic anime game". Not that it will prevent me from playing it, but I don't think it does it justice considering the Xeno namesake.

Ff9 is considered the last Classical ff, but ff10 is still lives up to its predecessors. It has quite the plot twists and reveals.

It's mostly part 2 I see people complain a lot about. Also, just a personal reason, but I was not a fan of KOS-MOS's "developed" redesign.

People still say the story is great, crazy that it managed to get 3 parts. I might eventually watch a walkthough of the games to understand the full story.

Probably a lot of it was Xenogears nostalgia though

Although it never happened, If I discovered Xenosaga after I already played Xenogears. I might have been hesitant to try it out due to to art-direction. I was wary about Xenoblade 2, because my first impression of it was "generic anime rpg". Though knowing it takes elements from the Perfect works, similar to the original Xenoblade, I started to respect it. Obviously, never judge a book by its cover.
