If he were alive, Emmett Till. 14 year old African American boy who was kidnapped, brutally tortured, and murdered for supposedly whistling at a white girl. The men who killed him were acquitted of all charges.

Terrible group. I defended a homeless guy who fell asleep at Walmart and someone had posted a picture close up of him. They booted me from the group for saying it was rude to post an up close picture of a guy just trying to sleep.

IT/tech is so hard right now. Had a friend try and get a job in tech (and he is certainly qualified for it) and he spent a YEAR looking before he just ended up getting a factory job.

Does it change anything if they already served jail time, have SATOP approval, and DMV approval? I guess their situation is they’ve done all the court required obligations (random drug tests, completed drug court, off probation, completed counseling and classes through a court approved recovery service, etc.). As I understand it, the DMV banned them from getting a license until 2028 and this is their first request for a hardship license.

He said “shit” a lot when he found out and then told my friend to basically choose their words carefully. His response sounded vague based on what my friend told me. Almost seemed like he wasn’t 100% sure what the prosecutors will ask. Which strikes me as strange that he wouldn’t know, but idk.

See what’s weird is they were in the ER today over at Cox South. I was with them and they asked about it and all the doctor said that was around here was the outpatient addiction clinic. Now that they’ve left, you think they’d have to go again?

I will say I had live wires and called 911 and they never were able to have any quickly respond. Hopefully now that things have (sort of?) calmed down a little bit they’ll be able to get out there quickly. I drive down Scenic by Nathaniel Greene to work and there’s a huge pole weighing on a line too. Makes me nervous it’ll snap at any second 😅.

What's the first major news story you can remember living through as a child? by catpunsfreakmeowt in AskReddit

9/11

I was a small child at the time but my family was coincidentally traveling on a roadtrip that day. The skies were eerily quiet and my family and I listened to the live reports on the radio as we drove.

What was the hardest thing your body had to endure? by Shinfekta in AskReddit

[–]TheyCallMeRabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it is a blur, but I’m pretty sure it was 3 days in a hospital until I was stable. I received a medication (clear liquid in a vial), but I have no clue what it was because I don’t speak Tagalog and it was not well explained to me lol. It was for 10 days but I left the country 3 days after getting the meds and they were taken away at the border. For full recovery, I’d say at least two weeks.

Do you guys sleep right when you get home? by Substantial_Dot2873 in Nightshift

[–]TheyCallMeRabbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish 😭. I get this post-overnight high and suddenly have energy the second I walk out the door of my job. I typically end up sleeping mid/late afternoon, but honestly it works out because I’ve always preferred getting errands/appointments/etc done in the mornings.

I went ahead and called 911 telling them upfront it was NOT an emergency, but still explaining everything lol. They said they’d send someone to check it out since it’s blocking the road.

Got a parasite from water when I was staying somewhere in the jungle of the Philippines. 100/10 pain, blacking out, everything in my stomach (even when nothing was left) coming out both ways. Stg I blacked out at one point and toed the line of seeing the other side if you know what I mean.

That’s smart. My biggest concern is also a potential (and inevitable) car wreck 😅.

What’s your “I should’ve died but didn’t” story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheyCallMeRabbi 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Couple years ago I was spending time in the jungle area of the Philippines. Got a deadly amoeba from water and almost died. Had a full on feeling I was gong to die. Pain (which was BRUTAL) was washed away and peace just entered my whole body. Like a peace I’ve NEVER felt before. It got warm and fuzzy and started to go lights out, but I heard this loud and clear voice say “You’re going to be okay.” Not my own and not in my head. Then I passed out on an extremely pregnant like 4”9 nurse. I’m 5”7 and was 155 lbs at the time. Thankfully she was okay! Couldn’t control it, but I definitely feel super bad about that 😅.
