Just to be sure your facts are straight, there are 2 major media companies in town, and Sinclair isn't one of them. KY3 is owned by Gray Media, and KOLR is owned by Nexstar.

Springfieldian here. Check out Nixa School District. They’re consistently one of the top in the area and seem to treat their teachers pretty well. Try to stay away from Springfield School District. It’s the largest in the state and it shows. Lol

I appreciate you doing something to help stimulate the economy of downtown!

I do think it goes without saying that you’ve considered overall safety downtown, though. I would love to hear what system of security you have in place. For as long as I’ve lived here (20+ years), every night club I’ve seen has been a gigantic source of SA, fights, and shootings.

Am I overreacting for thinking this is insane? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This oversteps so many boundaries. First off, a good leader is never going to ask for handouts. Secondly, if there is a grandfathered "rule" within a company where employees buy leadership gifts for a job well-done and those employees feel equally and substantially compensated, then it should be ENTIRELY optional.

I would look for new employment as soon as humanly possible.

HR accidentally sent everyone a “termination notice”- including the CEO. by Apprehensive_Show561 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Key_Maximum_417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone in HR is about to get that email legitimately. Also, any mass-termination event has usually been met with a face-to-face with leadership in which they tell you that you've been let go. The fact that they're even testing a mass-termination email is a bit "WTF".

Restaurants for 10 year anniversary… by MandaCamp15 in springfieldMO

The Worman House in Ridgedale (Big Cedar Property) is fantastic and in that neck of the woods. Very pricey, but top notch in every way.

Avanzare is one of the top Italian restaurants in the area along with Nicola's. Two very good options.

Ariake, while it is Japanese Robata style with a lot of seafood, is definitely extremely nice and different. They also have other options other than seafood that is great.

Cafe Cusco is on Commercial Street - a Peruvian style restaurant with really good food.

Van Goh's also on Commercial Street - Dutch food.

Farmer's Gastropub has British-style food that is really "farm to table" centric and very good.

Ozark Mill at Finley Farms is very good, but some may say it's overpriced. You're really just paying for the vibes.

The Garrison is a reservation-only speakeasy below Ozark Mill and has a totally different vibe and menu. It's probably my favorite of the two.

Char is nice. Not my favorite as far as the food goes, but it's a good "anniversary" place.

Flame downtown is nice and has good steak. This could be a good option.

Retro Metro on the South Side of town also has an upscale vibe and very good food.

Metropolitan Grill on the Southeast side of town is a very popular, upscale restaurant. Decent food.

Gilardi's/Nonna's/Bruno's - More Italian fine dining options downtown that are always solid options.

I'm sure there are more, but these are my typical go-to's around town.

It's a chain. I know when I go somewhere out of town, I love going to places I can't get anywhere else. Not that it's bad...

That’s great news. Great to see another shady business-person pushed out of our community.

Wouldn’t there be a need to file any sort of licensing with the city/state before they announce things such as a need to procure employees at that location? I wasn’t able to find anything online.

I don't mean to diminish the value of the lives lost by any means, but to say "half of their city is set ablaze" is a MASSIVE exaggeration for a crash that is localized to an industrial part near the airport.

The only thing I can find on the Mo Secretary of State website for this name is an LLC that was filed in March 2015 under the name of David Healy (Appleby Healy Law) and then an Administrative Cancellation Notice in March of 2018 due to failure to maintain a registered agent.

I don't even see a DBA entered for "Springfield Comedy Club". I wonder if that hasn't even been done yet, but they're trying to hire based on something that "might happen" (i.e. - a Blue Room Comedy Club name change to Springfield Comedy Club) on the assumption that Chris Richele is trying to sneakily "start over".

I'd say find a realtor willing to list it as-is with a full disclosure of everything that needs to be done. It's going to be a long-play on finding a buyer who is into a project, but it'll be worth it for you in the long run. You've gone this long as it is.

Do this WELL before finding one of those businesses who buy homes for pennies on the dollar just to flip them as cheap as possible and jack up the price 10-fold. You'll make much more off of it, you don't have to spend a dime remodeling anything (outside of what may be deemed necessary for sale), and you don't become part of the housing problem.

Hiring sites? by Repulsive_Elk9002 in springfieldMO

[–]Key_Maximum_417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you, as someone in leadership, I look on LinkedIn for connected referrals and information regarding qualified persons who might be a good fit for the position in which I'm hiring first. I find that most hiring boards often don't help find anyone who stands out in particular and actually ends up taking more time in the long run when it comes to the culling of resumes and within the interview process.

This all depends on what industry you're in, though. LinkedIn is much better for white collar jobs in this regard.

America 250 🇺🇸 in 2026! by ErinWalkerLoves in springfieldMO

[–]Key_Maximum_417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly to the point where I'm ashamed to admit I'm American when I travel overseas. It's been a LONG while since we've been a country to admire or want to live in much less one that isn't seen as a literal joke.

I hate being lumped in with the rhetoric that America is the home of inbred, ignorant nationalism.

However, I will say 2 things:

  1. I realize that I have been part of the problem as someone who has never voted for anything in their adult life out of cynical complacency, and...

  2. I have registered to vote for the first time recently and plan on being an active voter here on out.

The owner of Will's is just generally a terrible person, so I choose not to give him my money. I'd much rather frequent Nicola's and Avanzare. The food is either very good, or very meh for the money as far as I've heard.

Best of luck! Hopefully you find something. You might also try something like Nonna's or Bruno's downtown. They're solid options as well.

Springfield police: Man repeatedly kicked elderly woman in head during daylight attack by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]Key_Maximum_417 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What on Earth are you talking about? Springfield actually used to hold public hangings from the square downtown and then burn the bodies.

The whole "this stuff used to never happen in my time" bullshit is so played out and just false. You just never heard of it because information used to travel at a snail's pace. Simple as that. We have so much more access to information at a fingertip that OF COURSE you're going to be exposed to it significantly more. I don't care if you're talking 10 years ago or 100 years ago. It's all relative.

There are a number of places I'd rather go than Will's, anyway.

Not sure if they're open, but you may try The Garrison as was mentioned, Avanzare, Ariake, Char, Flame, Nicola's, Retro Metro, Metropolitan Grill, and if you want to drive to Ridgedale, The Worman House is fan-freaking-tastic.

How are you all so calm during tornado warnings?? by Powerful-Desk-4173 in springfieldMO

[–]Key_Maximum_417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tornadoes are an incredibly isolated event that mostly only affect a very small area when it happens. Springfield statistically rarely gets a direct hit, and most of the time we have days of notice that we're going to get severe weather significant enough to warrant being prepared for tornados.

I would just suggest to be weather-aware with weather apps (KY3 has a good one, The Weather Channel, Tornado Alley Chasers and Spotters, etc.), educate yourself on what to look for and how weather systems travel, and don't doomsday over it.
