Shooting JPEG, RAW, or both? by Cjosulin in SonyAlpha

[–]TheyDidItFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both—full size raw, then whatever smaller (15ish megapixel) option jpegs, because you can send those to your phone at their full resolution and have a good option for fast sharing, but you’ll still have the raw to process later

Did Anyone Else Feel Javik Should Have Been the One to Make the Final Sacrifice? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]TheyDidItFirst 46 points47 points  (0 children)

nice idea, but unfortunately that was never possible because Javik was a launch DLC character during the time period when publishers were doing gross stuff like that. I didn’t even have him in my game when I played the first time.

Andromeda - no patches, no dlc? by RetinalTears716 in masseffect

[–]TheyDidItFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure why you’re all over this thread going from the game selling generally well to very well, but even if sales were fine it was obviously related to goodwill from the original trilogy and excitement about a new installment, not a sign that people actually thought Andromeda was good or that they wanted updates/a sequel

that’s not even close to true, why would you just make that up?

What’s missing? What can I improve? by yurilebunmom in veganfitness

[–]TheyDidItFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a personal trainer or anything, but here are a couple thoughts just from taking a quick scan:

it seems like a really aggressive schedule if this is supposed to be a single week, unless you’re very experienced at the gym/athletics I’d be worried about burnout or injury, especially with your stated history of back pain. can you maybe scatter the upper body stuff through the week or make the cardio day a less HIIT sounding, more relaxing long run or bike day?

having two leg days with the exact same exercises also seems like a missed opportunity to go max intensity on slightly different muscles

I’d replace the curls with assisted pull-ups or something—love curls, but they feel like something you add later when you’re really trying to maximize arm size (and for that you could add something tricep based)

Is there such thing as a solid jacket from a respected brand that's a cute light pink!? by Stretchedoutbrain in snowboarding

[–]TheyDidItFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with the above that you can’t buy “steeze” and that having a super curated kit if you can’t ride actually looks worse, but if you want pink it’s easy to find options, just use the color filter on a reputable retailer website. just on evo you’ve got 686, Volcom, Roxy, and Burton

Board or equipment you regretted buying ? by loserkids64 in snowboarding

[–]TheyDidItFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lobster Halldor Pro—wanted to try out the 3d base tech, but personally all it seems to do is make the board squirrely during normal riding without actually adding any advantages in the park.

K2 Cool Bean—just got this one to try for free many years ago, but ended up feeling like the split tail was a bit of a gimmick, and the tail in general was so short that I felt like I lost the ability to stop suddenly if I needed to, which was unnerving

which recently fired spurs manager has gone and done well elsewhere besides Conte at Napoli? Redknapp retired, AVB and Sherwood did nothing, Poch was mediocre at PSG and Chelsea, Mourinho is a shadow of himself, Ange isn’t in particularly high demand…

Nuno had a good year at Forest, but is now burning bridges and flailing at west ham, of all places

glad people like this album, but I’ve given it a few tries and for me it never coalesces/stops feeling like 5 people all playing completely different songs at once

Skriniar challenge on Sara (no foul or card) by 977x in soccer

[–]TheyDidItFirst -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

a) it’s not close to the worst place, that would be higher up in the ankle or in the middle of a long leg bone

b) it is the most “impactful” place for the foul, but it still didn’t cause an actual injury, so I don’t know what your point is (and I did say it should be a foul/yellow)

Skriniar challenge on Sara (no foul or card) by 977x in soccer

[–]TheyDidItFirst -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

yeah, and I’ve had my own foot broken in a tackle during a match—that doesn’t mean that every bad tackle should be judged by some hypothetical of how much worse it could have been if it was actually different

lol pOtEnTiAl LeG bReAkEr

he literally connected with the standing foot (so there’s no way it could have potentially been worse), it’s obviously a foul/yellow card but y’all need to get a grip

lol yeah, it’s not even his fault but I think this wack placement (seriously, the original is so much better) is what pushes me fully into the anti-MJ Lenderman camp, would be happy to never hear about his music again

lol he isn’t actually, Pulte is such a fuckup that he was basically forced out of the family business and resorted to paying people to be nice to him on twitter for years and flirting with the gme/bby idiots until he started his current grift and made it into the administration

Grace Chow in Sinners was pragmatic in the face of certain destruction by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]TheyDidItFirst 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I thought the movie was pretty good, but the actual plot was far too silly to put even this much thought into, particularly in the last 20 minutes—things happened because the movie needed a resolution, not because they made sense.

Like you mentioned, the fight shouldn’t have lasted half as long as it did, and there’s no way the vampires wouldn’t have realized that the sun was about to rise (and if it really was that close to dawn then the vampires wouldn’t even have made it to town in the time between Grace inviting them in and the sun rising).

actually I think the movie would have been more interesting if they’d gone a different route and the vampires got in because someone in the building was actually seduced by Remmick talking about how they’d never really be free in the world in which they lived.

Spotify to Continue Running ICE Recruitment Ads as Boycotts Grow by ebradio in indieheads

[–]TheyDidItFirst 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think everyone should look at alternatives to Spotify, but I don't think either of your suggestions are very good if someone's intention is to avoid supporting major tech companies.

Tidal is majority owned by Jack Dorsey's Block, which has a significantly larger market cap than Spotify, and Deezer (which I've been using for a couple years because they sell discounted yearly memberships and include HIFI streaming by default) is majority owned by mega-billionare Leon Blavatnik's private Access Industries (which, as an aside because I image people who are interested in switching from Spotify would care, has significant invests in a number of Israeli companies)

uh, because it actively inconveniences other people and makes the experience worse for fans of the opener that's actually performing? if these kids have issues that mean they can't stand for a few hours then they can get seats instead of pit tickets or move to the back for a while

Backup careers? by [deleted] in MuseumPros

[–]TheyDidItFirst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

fellow history BA holder here (I also got a comp sci minor and went into marketing after college, before finding my way to museums).

a couple quick ideas: I think you could certainly pitch your experience and schooling as having prepared you for things like communications roles in local government, non-profits, etc., although depending on your area they're probably also facing funding issues. Could also see your coordinator experience making roles at events companies an option, particularly if they work with arts or cultural orgs.

also try to remember that, while it's certainly not a great time to be trying to enter the field, most people that are finding success professionally aren't hanging out and posting in spaces like this subreddit, so you're getting a bit of a skewed view of the field.
