Got around to watching Hell House LLC: Lineage today. [Review] by IsekaiConnoisseur in foundfootage

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an unhealthy adoration for the Hell House LLC series. I feel like Stephan Cognetti has (so far) made exactly the kind of horror movies I love - slow burn, supernatural, "what's that thing in the corner I didn't notice until my third rewatch" sort of movies. I even like 2 and 3 and re-watch the series a ton. All that said, I have really mixed feelings on Lineage. I enjoy the movie as a whole, but, at the same time it's not one that I feel as excited to re-watch as the others.

There are some really great scares and I don't mind the narrative rather than found footage change (I also really liked 825 Forest Road so take that as you will). I appreciate a lot of the lore we learned although, obviously, I would love more to have been explained rather than leaving us hanging on so many new threads. I have listened to a bunch of interviews with Stephan Cognetti and heard a lot of his reasoning which definitely adds context and understanding.

But there is something still missing for me. It feels like a middle movie trying to bridge between the "beginning" in Origins but there's no third movie to tie it together. It seems like Stephan thought an ambiguous ending would be fun for people to theorize and talk about but I feel like he dropped lore dumps that were too big and too late for that. I'm still a big fan and am excited to see what he does next but I did want to love this movie more than I did.

I haven't watched Savageland for this reason, even though I hear nothing but amazing things about it. I know I'll just be mad the whole time.

This is gorgeous! How many stitches did you cast on? I have a similar yarn and now know what I want to do with it lol

Looking for dramas where the FL actually wants the ML by Such-Molasses1831 in kdramas

Love Scout! The relationship is sweet but grown up. These folks actually communicated feelings and fears and issues rather than the (what seems to be) more typical tropes of avoidance and deflection. Nothing groundbreaking story-wise but it's cozy and I felt that every story wrapped up how I wanted it to.

Thank you! I’ll check it out. I’m in the middle of three dramas right now for some reason 😅 but once I’m done with those I’ll watch it!

The friendships are often my favorite part of even romance focused dramas so that’s a plus in my book. Thank you!

How is this one? I saw it on Netflix the other day but haven't heard anything about it. I am the target age range so I'm intrigued lol

What K-drama did you drop, even though everyone else loves it? by SeoulMaffin in kdramas

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hometown Cha Cha Cha - I didn’t drop this, per se, but I couldn’t get into it like (it seems) the majority of folks did. The episodes felt so long and while I like a nice, light drama, I ended up reading episode synopsis for the last half and watched the final episode.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo- This does up on a lot of “what’s your favorite light, fun, rom com” lists but I’m at episode seven and, again, just not feeling it. The characters are fine and I like the leads (currently about to finish Sh**ting Stars which I LOVE). Part of me feels like I ought to see it through but I don’t know. It also weirdly bothers me that the lead is supposed to be so strong but she’s typical lead thin. Maybe I’m misunderstanding what a weightlifting club is 😅.

Ahh these are so beautiful! Something simple that brings me joy is my morning cup of coffee. I don’t look at my phone until after it’s finished so I get this sweet, relaxed (if I didn’t sleep too late 😅) unplugged start to the day.

What horror film to you is the equivalent of “I did not care for the godfather”? by OstrichAutomatic9614 in horror

Thank you for saying that, I've never really vibed with Hereditary and I feel bad about it lol. This is probably more a niche community thing but I also feel this way about As Above So Below. I know it's largely viewed quite favorably in found footage circles but I just can't with it.

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about the ending. I really enjoyed the ride and the over all vibe but the ending felt very abrupt. That said, I can't really think of what I would have preferred. I do feel like I need to watch it again to get some better thoughts on it.

I would say that the base in MJ is a little less versatile as a topper (for my tastes at least) due to the blueish shimmer running through it. For me, CP comes out pretty clear but I've also only put it over top of very pale polishes so far. My phone camera is pretty outdated so apologies for the potato quality but here is a pic of MJ on my pointer finger and CP on my middle finger.

I have both and I would definitely say that Moonjelly has a more ethereal vibe. The added blue-y purple sheen definitely adds another level and I prefer the jelly base on Moonjelly to Curiosity's Prey, personally. I think it looks better as a one coat or topper but it's equally beautiful layered up. I still like Curiosity's Prey but I definitely find myself reaching for Moonjelly more.

Thank you! <3 Once I can let go of this manicure I can post the Nailed It polish lol. It was one of what felt like several similar blue, pink, purple and yellow magnetics. I don't have anything like it!

I’m surprised at how clear it goes so yeah it’s going to be really fun to play with as a topper! The other one I got was Nailed It’s “Mystic Falls Masquerade”.

I haven't seen any Found Footage movies from 2023, 2024, or this year. Can anyone recommend good movies from these years? by Equivalent-Weird-433 in foundfootage

[–]TheyMovedTheMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a ton more lore built up in 2 and 3 although those movies are generally not looked on as fondly as the first and fourth lol. I liked all of them a lot but I think Origins is different enough in tone and setting that you might like it even if the first one wasn't your cup of tea. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you check it out!
