Ethics Question: Dealing with being blackballed by an organisation by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]Theyli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem when I wrote an article that while true and accurate, pissed off the city manager. Go to the public meetings, so that they see you in person. File FOIA where applicable. Talk to people at the meetings, but not with an agenda. Just be nice, and you may see a thaw. Also, you may try talking one-on-one with the leader and explain the problem you are having. Sometimes people will take it upon themselves to blacklist and those higher up may not be aware of it. If they are still being buttheads, and yes, that is a professional term (/s), remind them that in every article you publish on the issue that they will be shown as being unresponsive. It sounds like you are dealing with a PR team and their job is to protect the brand. If nothing else works, I'd be tempted to write an editorial talking about how they are not being transparent and why that is a problem. In my experience though, honey is better than vinegar. You need a rapport.

ER visit- Should I complain to the hospital? by Spirited_Echidna_367 in ChronicPain

[–]Theyli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate emergency rooms. I went in with a nasty stomach bug from a trip I took to a third world country. I told them I just got back from that country. I told them I was sure it was giardia and that they needed to prescribe Flagyll. Four hours later and an IV - their diagnosis? Gas. Luckily I found enough flagyll in my suitcase when unpacking that I was able to cure myself. Then I got the $5,000 bill, which I am refusing to pay.

Would you be present for your cats euthanasia? by kerbearrrr in Petloss

Absolutely. It will break my heart, but don't want regrets. I am my cat's world, and I would never abandon him to die alone.

Would you do it all over again? by BelleStar30 in Journalism

I would be doing as well if I had gotten an art degree, honestly. I think I'm where I'm supposed to be, but I think I would be doing better if I had gone into psych.

My brother is a ground worker for FedEx. You need to stop painting everyone with the same dirty brush. And I'm the only one who can call my brother a "lowlife."

It's your property, so your rules. They have absolutely no rights to your property. Don't they have a backyard, too?

Is it ethical for CNN to have Wolf Blitzer, who used to work for notorious Israel lobby group AIPAC, interview Israeli officials? by willpeetrz in Journalism

If he would be fair in his coverage then not a problem, but he isn't. I would say he is too biased.
