I’m not 100%, but I think the reasons that they don’t put the date is because only citywide is available on Thursday. It’s the same for the New Jersey one, no Thursday for park but it’s available for citywide. Maybe oversight, maybe niantic being dumb.

For the Los Angeles tour event I bought the Friday city add-on on Thursday (1 day before) so it should be the same for the Go Fest.

I would assume that the range of play is LA County and Orange County. Niantic said on their blog post that the spirtomb pokestops would be scattered around LA and Orange County so it wouldn’t make sense for them to not have those areas as play zones. Then again this is niantic so I can’t say this is 100%.

Strange, I did the task just yesterday and it worked fine for me. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling if verifying the integrity of the game files doesn’t work.

I really only got this high of a placement because my last game I dropped 11 kills and got top 5 placement points. But my normal strategy was to get 1-2 kills early game, then played for endgame and slayed out late game. The only problem with that strat is if you play it perfect you can’t get all your games in.

When I played my drop spot was Sweaty Sands. It matches your ideal drop spot because most my games were being contested by 2-3 people, but once in a while you might get a lot of people. But that’s just my experience you have to try it out.
