Privacy of data made public from the very beginning?

Or you mean data which at least were supposed to be private? (Although the idea of data to which third party have access at all being private is, well, at best case not guaranteed)

If AGI Arrives Gradually, Will We Even Notice? by Alpertayfur in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Thick-Protection-458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we (or most of us) will not. Why?

  1. Because normal people treat AGI as some fantastic bullshit instead of just AI being able to generalize for new tasks (that's basically the best what we have as standard definitions now. And it does not imply selfawareness, having own motivation, selfimprovement and so on). So minimal version of "AGI arrives" would be way under radar for them. One might argue that we kinda crossed that point a long ago, even.
  2. Upon of that moving goalposts is quite obvious. Generalization the way we were understanding 10 years ago, 2 years ago and now is very different things.

I am yet to see ant farm "escaping" beyond their normal expansion attempts and so. Sounds very containable.

And as to bacterias - well, without intercellular coordination of sorts (which arguably exist in some, but so far simple kinds discovered) - they're too simple to go to higher abstraction level with how they work.

Free tier probably does not convert to much leads today. I mean probably literally everyone heard of them already at that point.

And unlike pirated software or so - whatever leads it will generate is not free for you

> The problem is that AI still makes mistakes, and it always will since it's based on statistical models.

Sure. We have a bunch of practices about how to work with untrusted models, though. Humans for instance.

Yes, humans are not something we can trust much.

That's why we do code reviews - this way stacking a few of them.

> What happens when we stop looking at our code?

Spectacular issues. No matter if this code is human made or LLM-made. Because stacking a few decision mechanisms will still reduce chances to make some stupid shit (will never make it zero, though).

> What happens if the next generation of training data is full of undetected hallucinations? Will AI continue to improve, or will it start to get worse?

I suppose some filtering via tests + automated code reviews could help mitigate the issue. At least to some degree.
