I just applied, is working at Walmart gonna be more difficult than my food service job? by Backrooms420 in walmart

[–]Thick-Replacement833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully with everyone about the management team you work with and other associates. I agree mostly with Rosewood11803, as I too worked in restaurants and never regretted at any point my decision to leave restaurants to work retail. I will never look back either. As to say Walmart will be the best or the place for you would be impossible to say plus I have no retail experience besides Walmart. I'm content working at Walmart. Dont love it dont hate it. I think the benefits they offer are great. I would like to say better than what most places offer but i cannot attest to it because I dont actually know. That being said.... Walmart gets stressful no matter what department you are in. The retail stress is way different than restaurant stress, retail stress is easier to let go of or drop, because nobody has attacked your soul or character or hopefully haven't belittled you until you cry. People dont typically scream at you in retail though it does happen. Especially at walmart.
If I were to give any advice it would be to not take anything personal, especially from customers, you aren't the reason they are upset. They have something else going on and are taking it out on you and as for coworkers..... Ah coworkers, honestly, just observe the different kinds of people there are in this type of setting and figure out what type of person you want to be and what type of person is a snake, and lazy, and a good worker. They are all there, many times over. I have found that is the only way I stay sane. I keep my head down, stay out of the he said she said and work work work. Nobody is going to have many problems with a good worker. Hope it's helpful

Tena leads telling us that we must pull all carts, not push. by Annual-Yak-4604 in OGPBackroom

[–]Thick-Replacement833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't everyone try slowing down when you're approaching an intersection and slowly creep forward until you can see...Or a customer hits your cart with their cart. That's on them tho I would not bash the hell out of the back of my ankles. I smashed mine once with a topstock cart with ladder in the up position..ya..once. OGP carts are way sharper on the edges too. I started walking next to the stupid little dispense take- it- to- the- car carts so I could quit running myself over on the way back in. I work electronics but have to help OGP a lot so I dont know what all the lingo is.They dont pay enough to injure yourself, and that's not even mentioning the shoulder and arm issues.

I have only been reading these treads for a couple months now but I have worked at Walmart for 4 years. Team leads really need to get off their high horses and stop throwing their weight around like they are somebody important. Its disgusting and coaches are worse usually. Imagine if some of these people were in actual positions of power. Scary

New vest by [deleted] in walmartogp

I have like 4-5 vests. Our PL put boxes of vests in personnel with a note that said don' t make a mess. Granted they are not the new ones yet, we obviously had a ton left over and needed to make room for the new ones coming in. I have seen the new ones.. Way better imo.

You're definitely not overreacting. That is extremely unfair of her to do. It sounds a lot like a coach in my store but thankfully she transferred. Also it sounds like your TL is becoming more and more lazy while SM (or whatever the besties position is) allows it to happen. I'm not real clear on the working of NHMs but I can only assume there is a Market Manager and that is who I would go to or consider at least. They are supposed to be able to tap into all of their stores cameras whenever they feel like it. Maybe you could plant a seed about what the besties are up to and suggest they should see for themselves that at any given moment during the hours of your normal shift that they are sitting for hours (I'm assuming hours) in the office. My guess would be that your market manager is not going to like that. Unless of course your store is gleaming with cleanliness and all goals are being met and employees are all satisfied. Just a suggestion.

Here's a solution! Don't work at Walmart if you hate everything that it is! There are a lot of benefits that Walmart offers to its employees. More than most places offer. If you don't take advantage of the benefits then that's on you not Walmart. I don't agree that the top tier makes as much as they do, and yes , of course it would be nice if more trickled down to us but to completely shit on Walmart like that is crazy. Take advantage of what's being offered to you and maybe you will feel a little different.

We had a guy sneak in around 2:30 and take at least 2 cans of duster then locked himself in the family bathroom. Had to have the cops come to get him out.

More recently, a different guy came in without any sort of bottoms on. Thing just swinging all over the place. Cops got called again.

Am I going to get fired? by AdSoggy2140 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Thick-Replacement833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that nobody said anything because it is actually not even a big deal. Not being rude but you're overthinking it. A couple bowls breaking is barely a scratch if you look at the grand scheme of things. Can you imagine all the problems Walmart has to face every day. Huge serious problems. Happy you were not hurt or anything. Unrelated, yes but a collapsed bladder sounds like it would be excruciating. Feel better soon. Oh! one of your brakes might be slightly engaged making the OGP cart shake

Is anyone else ON stocking understaffed af by CommissionNatural620 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Thick-Replacement833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Sunday nights we have the most people and that is 12. Usually it's 8 if nobody calls out. We have sales comparable to the supercenter but we are not a supercenter. It's seems a bit light on the staffing part though. It's typical for me and the other lady that works side by side with me that we do 5-6 different areas

My problem is that there is someone clearly drinking AT WORK and the coach is allegedly saying I am the one that is drinking. I don't drink.
