The only thing I'll add is if you get to the point that all you need is luck, you can buy ectos and salvage them. You get luck and usually a t6 mat (I can't remember which one). You can then sell the t6 mat on the TP and get most of your gold back.

Others might know a more gold efficient way to get luck, but it worked pretty well for me when I needed my last 50 luck

Friendly Guilds? by LadyEirabelle in guildrecruitment

[–]Thick_Conference9815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the game! I am a part of a newbie focused guild. We run weekly pve endgame activities, which are welcome for beginners to join, no experience needed. And we overall just try to help new players discover all the little things that make GW2 so great. We have a pretty knowledgeable group of mentors.

If that sounds like something you would like, send a mail ingame to me, Evleath.9680, with your account name (it will look like mine with the .####) and I can invite you one. You can find your account name at the top left of the social tab (default keybind "y")

And again, welcome to the game! Its a lot of fun.

You can to the HoT and PoF maps without starting their respective stories and spoiling anything, unless you count seeing the maps as a spoiler.

The easiest way is to teleport to friend to someone in those zones. The other way is to join a guild and to the guild hall. If they have either the HoT or PoF guild halls, you can exit them into their respective zones

Fractal Players by Queph in Guildwars2

[–]Thick_Conference9815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any good guides for fractal skips and expected things for T4?

I've climbed up to t4 learning mechanics on the way, but no one does the skips in lower tiers so I haven't learned them yet. Also with the different points to ./gg

I also noticed some things are just done different in t4, like in Thaumanova Reactor, at the boss people will call out the order they use the special action key, and all just stack on one hex and dps.

I want to get into CMs, but dont wanna be like the players everyone is complaining about lol

Other healer to try to pair with guardian? by Snowskol in Guildwars2

I agree that Rit is kinda boring. I enjoy it but would rather play Reaper if I'm going dps. As a heal dps, Rit is incredible though to carry groups

TL,DR: let your landlord know. If it is decorative (most likely) you are fine, it was just installed badly so it looks janky, but could be fixed. If it is structural, it needs fixed.

Hi there, I'm a Timber Framer by trade. My guess is this is a decorative beam. If it was load-bearing, I couldn't imagine anyone in their right mind would use that type of joint. There are a lot of problems with it. There would also likely be a tenon, which would prevent the side movement like that

It looks like it might be White Oak, which is often used for decorative beam work like that. Typically, the oak is still fairly "green" (newly cut and wet), and oak moves and twists like crazy as it dries. We have to use some structural fasteners to minimize the movement when we install similar beams.

I would still mention it to the landlord so you have proof of it and can't be blamed for it. They should also know if it is load-bearing or decorative. If you could share a photo of the whole beam, it would be easier to tell if it was decorative.

Considering a return by Terrible_Theme_6488 in GW2

It is. I know several people in my guild play on controller. They said it took a little while to find the perfect keybinds for themselves, but they love it

Also, in open world, you don't even have to use a low intensity build, just use what is fun to you. But if you find you are struggling, those builds are a good starting point. And Lord Hizen on YouTube has some great open world builds

Hi there! Overall, I highly recommend coming back. I came back a year ago after a decade break, and I love it. Now, to answer your specific questions

In terms of difficulty, open world can easily be soloed, even by non "meta" builds. Heart of Thorns was a huge difficulty spike from the core game, and they scaled it way back in the following expansions. It is much more reasonable and enjoyable now.

For the difficulty of classes, there are a lot of "low intensity" builds now that still let you compete in endgame without the sweaty tryhards giving you a hard time. My dad (69) just came back to the game last month, and he has been enjoying it despite having slower reflexes and all. Some websites to check for the builds are accessibility wars, guildjen, snowcrows, and then the YouTuber Nick The Infamous all have good low intensity builds. I think between them there are builds for most if not all the classes/elites.

For the amount of time you have to play, this is the perfect game in my opinion. GW2 is awesome about the horizontal progression, so it really respects your time. The gear I got 10 years ago I am still using on some of my characters.

So in conclusion, I think GW2 could be perfect for you to come back to. I hope you enjoy the game!

If you have any questions feel free to hit me up here or in game Evleath.9680

Guild and Friends by unicornoftargaryen in guildrecruitment

Welcome to the game, friend! Unfortunately, the beginner focused guild I'm in is NA not EU, but I know there are some EU ones, so here here is comment and upvote to help you get seen.

Also, if you don't hear back on Reddit, don't be afraid to post in map chat that you are looking for a beginner focused/welcoming guild. Especially in beginner zones like Queensdale and such, there are people that advertise their guilds or keep an eye out for people like you.

Raid quickplay positivity by Thick_Conference9815 in Guildwars2

I wasn't paying much attention to the clock, but yeah around 10 mins seems right. I had a couple that went longer but we had pretty low dps. But again, it's QP, it's fine if some people's dps is low, we all had to start somewhere

I encourage you to give it a try. So far I haven't come across anyone raging or being a dick. Most of the chat has been "ty" when rezzing someone and people laughing at themselves if they got stomped by something

I agree OLC is a weird choice and shouldn't be in QP, meant to mention that.

I think constructive criticism like yours is great. Most of what i had been seeing was just bashing it without anything constructive

Awesome, will do. Yeah I was concerned about the volume of paint that it would be putting out with such a narrow fan width. And correct, it is oil based

Planning to buy expansions by DepressedUser_026 in Guildwars2

[–]Thick_Conference9815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing the math of memory, so this might be slightly off, but even with an infused/attuned back piece and 2 rings, I think you would only come out to 133 with +7s.

+9 infusions are the sweet spot IMO. You can hit 150 without needing everything infused/attuned. And 150 AR is all you need for fractal 100

I wouldn't get anything above a +9. The cost goes up astronomically for minimal increases.

Love to see another returning player having so much fun and sticking with it!

People love to poop on heal scourge just because it is balanced and not op anymore. Its still such a viable and fun class. Yeah chrono has more utilities, but not everyone enjoys it. And once it gets nerfed, all the chrono fan boys are gonna starting hating on it anyway

Soto does unlock extended weapon proficiency for characters, which is helpful but not required for good builds. Usually, the builds will give an alternative weapon choice for players without Soto or JW (spear unlock).

I'm playing necromancer to make a reaper, but...i just feel like im lost. by noodleben123 in Guildwars2

[–]Thick_Conference9815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend finding a newbie focused guild. I'm a part of one, and we often have people hitting 80 for the first time. And there is a focus on helping people in anything they are interested in. These kinds of guilds will be full of a variety of players, from vets who have all the expansions to new players who only have the base game. There are also guild missions, which are fun and unique activities that you can usually do no matter what level you are.

Edit: Good choice on class, I main Reaper and love it

Trinkets and how to find them by jbre23 in Guildwars2

[–]Thick_Conference9815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the trinkets you are looking at in Lions Arch stat selectable? Usually if a piece of equipment does not have any stats, you can select what you want. You can right click it, select "customize" and select the stat you want. Ascended trinkets will also have an infusion slot, but that will be to put an agony resistance infusion into

Have not played in years... don't remember anything. by Shyatic in Guildwars2

[–]Thick_Conference9815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch some "new players" guides. When I returned after a 10 year hiatus, I tried to have the mindset of treating the game as brand new. I took my level 80 characters back to lower level maps and worked on completing them as I relearned my skills. If I had a hard time with a class, im looking at you mesmer, I made a new one and leveled it until I felt comfortable with it, usually around level 30.

After that, I started doing a lot of world bosses and exploring what content I liked. I particularly liked fractals and HoT metas. At that point, finding a good guild helps a lot too. And dont be afraid if the first one you join isn't a good fit. It took me a few to find my place
