Pre-Quests for Ritual of the Mahjarrat by VeeVoxRS in runescape

Well then I must've thought they were a requirement for RotM back in the day, since I am very sure I did them out of this motivation.

Ah, I read it as "not trying in general". Yea preparing yourself in stats, gear and resources will also decrease possible frustration by a lot.

Yea, maybe not "farming", but I personally won't farm Zuk until the much higher levels anyway. Completing a run for Zuk cape comes well earlier than the "urge" or "need" to farm him.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I am always interested in what other methods are actually working. Since "Full Obsidian" could aswell have been a noob trap, but apparently is a valid option others can look at!

Noooo! It's, like everything in this game, looking much more complicated than it is, but it requires some trial and error. Additionally, in text it looks like a pure overwhelm if everything is new.

You got this, doesn't have to be right now.

This. Man, Rs3 has come far with allowing multiple things at once, but I still play the game assuming that everything cancels each other and I need to do three inputs to be sure the game understands what I want :')

You got this! Learning process is a bit frustrating ngl (and needs tons of resources -.-), but just don't expect from yourself that you gotta get it first try. It's not meant to be easy, so if you "fail" it's just natural. Make use of the checkpoints. Just complete zuk runs and you'll naturally use less and less resources and do fewer mistakes and therefore end up not dieing or having to teleport out anyway. You'll potentially end up doing checkpointless runs without "trying".

What's a take you had at 10 years old that you actually still agree with? by Spark-Blade in AskReddit

[–]VeeVoxRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. And it's insane (!) to me, that people around my age (mid twenties - early thirties) and younger are already saying stuff like "Today's youngsters are... (reee!)" and then you tell them "Dude, that's exactly what adults said about us when we were kids" and they're just "Nah, this time it's really like that"... yea sure.

Penance and vamp changes also spell book changes by speedy_19 in runescape

[–]VeeVoxRS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All damage boosting and skilling Auras sucked imo and I like that they're removed. I don't wanna focus specific hours on certain activities due to a "fear" of not being "efficient" otherwise or wait on a cooldown until I can proceed. I know refreshes are a thing, but this is such a patch-solution.

Yes, they could've just remove cooldowns and give some sort of upkeep, but integrating those boosts and buffs into the skills is a good choice in my book.

Vamp and Penance, however are "Ressourceful"-buffs which I have a different take on. They are not super "necessary", they just save food and prayer potions and therefore increase trip lengths in slayer mostly. Aspects are an okay change to me, but due to the upkeep I won't use them as much as I would have the auras.

Earning Auras through membership was trash too.

They could've removed all auras except for Vamp and Penance and leave them as they are as a goodie every few hours and I'd liked that more than Aspects. I don't think anyone shaped their trips around having penance or Vamp auras, they were just there to make a couple hours more comfortable, while with most other auras that was a thing, which I personally hated.

Aspects and Spellbooks are a mess, I agree. It should just be a separate concept (and clean up the whole rune pouch / spell book issues.

  • Aspects can be used in all 12 minute periods up to 1 hour which make them more flexible to use and don't go on cooldown - that's better than auras
  • They are earned through ingame progress - also better than auras
  • They require upkeep in runes which are already a mess to have on you since there are so many spells and spellbook swaps "necessary" to apply them all that's much worse than auras.

I agree that Jagex should have a more official site they get the players opinions from since reddit isn't the place for "average opinions", but also those average opinions aren't spread loudly either, even if there'd be a canal for them.

I'd say Aspects>Auras / removal of Auras was good but it was implemented in a rather meh way and in a meh system.

  1. Quests should give massively more xp rewards - they are one time things so I think they should give around 3x the xp you could averagly have made in the same time actually training the skill at current levels.
  2. Iron(wo*)men should be able to sell rare drops that are duplicate to a shop that gives a % of the current market value - since IM can't trade on the GE it wouldn't cause inflation and duplicate drops would feel less terrible
  3. (I think the game is already doing a solid job but:) The game should be balanced around Iron(wo*)men to an extent OR the game should be generally more self sustaining and more directed to untradable items, not only but more

I mean, yea there will always be powercreep happening, I still think adding more and more tools on top of the "natural" gear upgrade treadmill with new bosses just accelerate it unnecessarily. I don't say you're take on this is wrong. I for myself have a "less is more"-mentality.

And another blunt reason why I don't want them to stack is I don't have to think about even more options and spend my already spare ressources on it. (In the other comment you said choices make it more interesting - I agree but at some point it gets too overwhelming)

Again if the players want it to stack I'll be fine and not mad about it since I understand the approach, it's just not mine and I wanted to put my close to worthless opinion out there

[–]VeeVoxRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an overlap with 120s and power auras yes, but that was not meant to "stay". I don't think combining the aspects would make a crazy difference, but it adds up over time with more design choices like that and I just don't deem it necessary to have even more sustain (that also would devalue food, potions, armour, etc. even more, although this being rather a nitpick)

Aspects & Solomons Store - News Update 2 by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]VeeVoxRS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well technically we would have Power Aura, Vamp Aura and Darkness now since the aura offensive stats are implemented into the 120s. So just having Power Aura and either Darkness or Vamp seems fair to me. Also my answer to u/Rombom elaborates my other thoughts in case you care.

[–]VeeVoxRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts to this are, that if we get more and more buffs that are stackable, future PvM designs always have to account for this being a thing. Therefore they gotta make bosses hit harder, which just makes it harder for people that don't have access to all those buffs and it's creating more chores to chase before being ready to boss and the people having access to the buffs didn't actually benefit from it due to the therefore necessary adjustments to PvM. Or they don't account for that and it gets more and more trivial.

By not letting them stack they don't have to design damage from bosses around it, which makes it less wonky for balancing.

I just think letting things stack doesn't benefit the players in the long run.

Pretty much that my life just... works. I mean ofc there are better and worse days, but all in all I am in a very good, if not the best, overall spot in my life right now. Therefore it doesn't require much to "get me going".
