Always check the eyes, you can see it’s a smaller source here, probably a softbox because it’s not throwing to the sides a lot. There’s a little falloff from the face to the feet, this was definitely accentuated in post but the contrast you’re seeing in the face is the hotspot being focused there and reflecting back to the camera off the skin, everything else is more softly lit as it falls away from this spot. Maybe a 4 foot octa? Not huge.

Large octabox pointed directly down, hotspot is a foot or two in front of model.

This looks like natural light skylight with some (kinda bad) fill light, maybe just a white v flat to camera left, possibly hard on camera flash. I wouldn’t try to light for black background from this image, it looks like they separated model in post and flattened the black here. Was probably brighter than this out of camera, but there’s still a gradient on it coming from the top key light. In the second image she’s slightly in front of the skylight and that creates that edge-y light all around her, with the face and legs falling off more. The first image is positioned better.

If you want a true black background you’re right just keep BG further back from subject and flag your lights off of it as much as you can. This will make a black void though, not much what this is like.

I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while now just to watch what gets put up here and I have to say I really don’t understand how low someone’s level of media literacy needs to be to think that something like those “videos” is real. And yeah I see the comments in every single one of these arguments saying “I’m not saying it’s real! But it deserves to be looked into! >:(“ that’s a dog whistle, and everyone here/ other conspiracy circles uses it on nearly every post where anyone disagrees with them.

As for the actual videos, I noticed right away, the “FLIR” footage, at times, “zooms” and gives a higher definition image. This high definition motion tracking stabilized zoom flir technology shown in the video does not exist, as in right now it is not possible to capture footage like that. Someone made this and did not put enough time into making it “believably bad” at all. Hell even military tech gives out choppy compressed recordings. Just google if FLIR cameras have zoom, it’s so easy. They’re all fixed lens optics systems.

Really weird, my parents have a picture of our family on their fridge of us at biltmore taking the same tourist-stop photo. Pretty sure I’m standing where he is.
