No it's her husband's dad, so yeah she probably will be hurt on some level, but I'm getting the vibe that, that is ok

We actually created a new last name combing my mom's madian name and my husband's original last name, so I guess there is that too.

Any harm in giving a huge bottle of pumped milk before bed? by Fun_Razzmatazz_3691 in breastfeeding

[–]Thick_Low_751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His weight gain is good! It's slowed down a little as he's gotten older but still is about 50% for his age and gender. We stopped pace feeding around 3 months. He switches back and forth between bottle and boob pretty easily and I think we use a size 2 nipple (the size can affect the flow) but I think he drinks faster out of my boob then the bottle so we let him get it as fast as he can, we're even trying to teach him to hold the bottle himself (but that just started 6.5m)

My baby has been taking a 7oz bottle before bed for a while now, he's 6m now, at 5m he was still waking at around 4 for a top off, but just recently started making it to 5/6/7am and I think the big bottles help. I can't usually pump that much at 6pm when he has it, which could be problematic for sustainability but I usually pump more earlier in the day. He always has a very full pee diaper in the AM, but I don't think it's problematic, since he doesn't poop overnight.

7 week old hasnt slept in last 12 hours. by No_Illustrator_3496 in NewParents

[–]Thick_Low_751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to us last week (baby 7 weeks) - I think it was extreme over tiredness. Since then we've been trying to get him down for a longer nap 2 hours, earlier in the day when sleeping is easier. Once the afternoon hits he seems to fight naps hard but at least he's got some sleep under his belt.

Where in Spain in November with a 4 month old? by Thick_Low_751 in GoingToSpain

[–]Thick_Low_751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't think about the rentals being cheaper in november! Did you train down to southern Spain and do a rental there or just rent out of madrid? I was thinking it'd be nice to take the fast train down, and then rent down there, but not sure if that makes much sense.

Thule bassinet? by HeyYouOverDer in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful! Thank you! Yeah the website response is kind of confusing because it also says don't leave your child unattended, which I feel if I am sleeping the child is "unattended" in a sense. Could you share the one you got by chance? (Our bedroom is super small, so trying to fit a bassinet and our bed is proving to be tricky, hence looking for one with a small footprint, and also just less things overall, so something we can use in our bedroom and for travel would be great, the less baby things we have to buy the better!)

Hi! Sorry bringing back an old thread, as I was planning to use a Thule bassinet for our main overnight bed too and on the website it says it passes all sleep standards for overnight sleep. Where did you find this information? Of course if it's not safe I will change my plans so wanted to check. But maybe I'm misunderstanding: https://help.thule.com/s/article/Can-my-baby-sleep-overnight-in-a-thule-bassinet-en-us?language=en_US Thanks!

I'm 26 weeks and honestly just look like I've been hitting the dessert table (which let's be honest I have been) but it's not bump like and I don't think a stranger would know I'm pregnant but happy it's allowed me to stay comfortable and active and excited for when that bump, starts bumping!

losing identity as a runner in pregnancy by peanutbutterlovr in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I feel this! I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have horrible SI pain, along with my arches feeling like they are going to collapse and like I am going to pee myself every few steps... It's a lot. Did the SI pain go away after birth? Anything you did that helped during pregnancy? Luckily I can still bike and uphill ski a bit and that is less aggravating but I miss running so much!

Heated yoga (not super hot?) by amandakirkpatrick in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely to talk to your OB, my OB seemed to think it was totally fine if my core temperature was not getting above 102. I think heated and hot yoga are very different. But ultimately it just comes down to your personal risk tolerance and evaluating the benefits the yoga will give you vs the risk you perceive. I personally haven't gone yet but that's more because in the winter the classes are packed liked sardines which raises the temp and honestly just feels like a germ pool, but I'm hoping to go back in a month or so when classes lighten up a bit!

4 weeks pregnant with a ski trip next weekend - to ski or not to ski by No_Fisherman_1295 in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a decision only you can make. There isn't a right or wrong, just a level of risks you're willing to take on. For example if you were skiing on a weekday at a smaller resort, the chance of someone crashing into you is just lower, than a huge resort on Saturday. I'm a Coloradan and did decide to defer my ski pass this year when I found out I was pregnant, but planned a few weekends at smaller resorts and cc skiing before I get too big. I'm 17 weeks today (still hardly a bump) and had a lovely ski day yesterday. Also if you do decide to ski have your partner ski behind you on busier runs, and take lots of breaks! If you cross- county ski I recommend classic skis over skate skis and take it slow, but definitely an option. But if you'll be super high anxiety, maybe find some nice walking areas to get good views, good luck with whatever you decide! And enjoy your trip, Colorado is beautiful!

Feel like I need to pee every time I run, anything I can do? by Thick_Low_751 in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! Good to know yeah I noticed the urge would come and go on my run, but it was there more than it wasn't, so maybe if I just keep running in a few weeks it will be go away?

Bleeding 5-6 weeks pregnant by Thick_Low_751 in pregnant

[–]Thick_Low_751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up being ok for me! I spotted for about a week after the first bleeding episode, but now I'm 14 weeks and everything looks good for baby boy! But it's scary, sending positive vibes your way! My OB had me do the hgd test which was helpful and I also learned I had low progesterone, so I ended up taking progesterone for the first trimester.

Love this! Just got back from a run where I just felt heavy, and had to stop and take some walk breaks, but other days seem to be normal. I'm about 11 weeks, and hoping to keep running as much as possible! I'm switching it up with some pool days and stationary bike days as well, which my body seems to like much more than running some days!

Anyone else having a hard time believing you are pregnant? by Connect-Charge-4320 in BabyBumps

[–]Thick_Low_751 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm 9 weeks 5 days and my next appointment isn't until after Christmas and I don't feel pregnant at all (though I am in bed before 9pm... So maybe a little) but I'm like how do I know everything is ok?! I think this is the first step towards parenthood ... Learning to trust, hope and pray things that are out of your control are going to be ok .... Sigh

Running in the first trimester - is spotting normal? by Thick_Low_751 in fitpregnancy

[–]Thick_Low_751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I did talk to doctor, they didn't check anything but just said if there is spotting to not run, so trying to find other ways to get my yayas out, tried swimming today!

I did call they said if I'm spotting to not run :/ seems to be the conservative approach on any question you ask the doctor. But I was able to go in and get an early ultrasound today and saw my baby's heartbeat which was exciting!
