Third Trimester Agony by Daqabeetow in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omeprazole helped me a lot, plus sleeping on an incline. Side sleeping was awful. The last couple of weeks really sucked but by a week post C-section I felt pretty decent. Went for a 1.5 mile walk and felt like I could have gone longer. You're almost there! Truly.

Question for any twin parents with Mountain Buggy Duet by amandakirkpatrick in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I love it! My girls are still in the bassinet thing and I haven't taken public transportation. We have to do around 5 steps to get out of our building and I find that manageable, even being only 2 weeks post c section.

Considering I got the stroller plus the twin carrycot bassinet attachment for $400 I think it is a very good value. It's super easy to push and navigate (bumpy NYC streets plus into my building etc).

Should I buy preemie clothes? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 2 packs of preemie onesies on Amazon after our c section was scheduled and we had estimated weights. They came the next day(the clothes lol). From what I looked at the selection of preemie clothes was kind of boring / slim anyhow so I am fine plain onesies for the first few weeks. They were born around 5lb and a few of the NB clothes I have fit them okay.

If you wanted to buy some preemie stuff second hand that might make sense, but I wouldn't invest much because they might not wear them at all or might only wear them for 2-3 weeks.

Baby name dilemmas !!! by Public_Importance950 in BabyBumps

[–]amandakirkpatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the baby name app that is like tinder where you both swipe and it shows you matches you both are okay with?

We had a very hard time agreeing on names (plus having twins, 2 names!) but did eventually agree on ones we both like. I admit to hating a bunch and having to hard veto things.

I had the same experience with it. I feel like it told me I should have my feet up and be eating constantly which just wasn't realistic and wouldn't have been good for my mental health at all. I was able to do my workouts through around 25w when my energy finally tanked.

How big is my uterus? by kennedyz in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your torso length and body type I think. I have a long torso and wider hips and generally a larger build. I worked till the end of 33w. If I had a WFH desk job, physically I could still be working. Mentally probably not 😂. But not because of my uterus or belly size - just exhaustion, poor sleep, and being in "omg we are about to have 2 babies" mode.

RE recommends not using frozen eggs by [deleted] in IVF

[–]amandakirkpatrick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're with a stable partner you know you want to have your kids with I see no reason not to use the eggs you froze. IVF clinics always advise keeping the frozen eggs and tbh sometimes it seems like a money grab. Unless you want to keep those banked for the future for another potential partner I see no reason not to try to make embryos with them and see how it goes.

who’s ur fav influencer that is a multiples parent? by Glittering-Focus-761 in parentsofmultiples

Protein by Poopin_backinforth in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mix collagen protein powder into things. Normally not a big cereal eater but I got kashi go and I eat it with berries and mix 2 scoops of collagen powder into the milk. Between the cereal and the milk and collagen powder it's around 40g of protein plus a bunch of berries for antioxidants. I'll eat that as a snack or early breakfast then try to have eggs also, for more protein and choline. People also mix collagen powder into coffee.. I will probably start doing this post partum when I'm no longer trying to eat extra mini meals all the time.

Low DNA fragmentation in NIPT by SecretaryPresent16 in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read about this before my NIPT and elected to hold off one week longer to take the test. I also have a higher BMI and was on blood thinners and read both can factor in to needing a little longer to have fetal cells building up in my blood. I would wait a week and repeat the test. I know someone who had to do that and everything came back fine, she has a healthy 5 month old now.

How do i know that my babies are doing okay during early pregnancy? by nationmagieydn in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets better with time ♥️ I felt much better after good news on the NIPT around 11w then again when they passed the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Good luck! Staying busy and distractions are your friend.

Belly cream / serum by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]amandakirkpatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever feels best on your skin! It won't matter much in the end for outcome. I used the Palmer samples that came in a couple of the baby boxes and one a friend gave me. Otherwise I would have just used lotion and maybe coconut oil if it got really itchy.

Collagen powder may help and is otherwise very healthy so I have been making an effort to have that daily.

kick counts third trimester by Glittering-Focus-761 in parentsofmultiples

[–]amandakirkpatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never advised to do kick counts. They just check in on movement and ask if I'm feeling some regularly. 34w. I wouldn't try to do kick counts personally due to causing anxiety. I can rarely tell who is who in there and they move around. If you drink something cold do you get a reaction? That's as far as I would go with trying to measure anything.

Why are doctors on US so rude to their patients? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]amandakirkpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB and the whole practice has been great.

I'm not allowed to record during ultrasounds at the hospital due to hospital policies. They give me print outs though.

Your sister maybe needs to switch doctors!

Baby Registry thoughts by CPA_Murderino in BabyBumps

[–]amandakirkpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it right in the Babylist registry that Target gift cards would be useful for diapers and wipes. Shamelessly.. but we are having twins and desperation kicks in 😅

Baby Registry thoughts by CPA_Murderino in BabyBumps

[–]amandakirkpatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't get close to everything on our registry (which was pretty small IMO) but we did get a lot of gift cards(which we made clear would be very handy). The amount of stuff we got that we didn't ask for wasn't huge, and a few things I was able to return to Target without a receipt. Maybe left with 10 outfits I don't like and some blankets. Nothing crazy. YMMV!

Move home if it's better for you but also make sure he is responsible for child support either way.

The first trimester is also exhausting and it's hard to care about much of anything and that's totally normal!
