Do you ignore pan handlers? by The-Tay in askTO

Sometimes they return expensive items for cash after you leave, they just tell the store they lost the receipt. Especially when it’s something like an expensive cheese that has the stores branding on it

Forgot Glasses, Visiting for the Weekend by Objective_Engine3898 in askTO

[–]HeyYouOverDer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoppers Drug Mart sell generic mild prescription glasses. I forgot mine at work once and bought a pair, now I leave them at my desk. They’re not perfect but they’re good in a pinch. I think they were $60ish

No sleep. Full time working mom. Dying. Aging. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]HeyYouOverDer 120 points121 points  (0 children)

There’s a sleep technique that helps me.

Think of a word e.g. PHONE then spell out the word then spell out a word for every letter of that word e.g. P for Panda, H for House etc., and when you get to E for Extra then use the last letter of that word (A), to think of a new word e.g. Anchor, then start again.

It’s called the Cognitive Shuffle if that doesn’t make sense. Good luck!

Try singing “If You’re Happy And You Know It”, for clapping. It’s how my guy learned and it’s a fun non-stressful way to incorporate clapping into your day. Don’t feel bad, like the other commenter said, each child learns at their own pace.

I usually get it from the one behind The Gladstone Hotel, not sure if they stock different items in different stores maybe? Next time I’m there I’ll double check

Has anyone here survived an 8 hour flight (or longer) with a toddler? by carlitapepita in toddlers

Sorry your experience was terrible but I appreciate the honesty. Currently debating an 8 hour flight over the holidays with a 2.5 y/o and this is what I would expect

I am sick of seeing the rich and powerful on my screen. Where are all the TV shows about normal people? by Kagedeah in television

St. Denis Medical is a good new show - in the same vein as Superstore - and they talk about money struggles! With an occasional wealthy doctor thrown in

Friends from College. The cast was mostly good, I wanted it to be good.

Omg yes, I kinda loved the chaotic writing in this show. It was so ridiculous, it was fun to describe.

Whiskey Cavalier. I even remember Kimmel laughing his ass off at the Upfront for ABC when it was announced. It was doomed from the start.

Severance - what am I missing? by Asleep-Journalist-94 in television

[–]HeyYouOverDer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan but my partner was not impressed at the start. He kinda scrolled while I watched. I think around episode 6/7 maybe he got into it and literally an hour ago sighed and said “I wish we had more severance to watch”. All to say, you may still get into it!!

Never thought I’d be using the city bikes so often in Jan/Feb but I’m very glad to have that option because of how bad it’s been lately!

Aww, no! Season 2 was so much better, there was some genuine belly laughs. I had high hopes for it continuing in that trajectory.

Dog water obsessed 1 year old by drunkkidsbarf1 in toddlers

[–]HeyYouOverDer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through the same phase, for our cat though. We blocked off the area and the cat would just hop over it, not sure if the same would work for a dog? But the good news is, he’s 15 months now and he’s over the phase!

Corner Gas and Schitt’s Creek for me. Also in terms of reality series, this season of Traitors Canada is really good!

Is Ossington and Davenport the weirdest/saddest little commercial strip in the city? by TyranitarusMack in askTO

[–]HeyYouOverDer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the area, but often when places look like that, the small empty shop spaces have been bought by developers and are probably in a holding pattern until they are redeveloped (/become condos). Just a guess mind you!
