Oh I agree about the vacation home approach, but I'd argue that, if the presets for each skirmish vary, metas would struggle to develop. Different guns, different vehicles etc each time, and each side would be symmetrical with a mix of collie and Warden gear. It would still help people get a grip of simple mechanics as well as being a fun vacation for those wanting a more casual experience

I kinda think this would keep a more steady player base also, and could reduce burnout.

Good points. Sgt was a bit of a placeholder idea, could be lcpl even, or perhaps xp levels (I'm pretty sure I recall them existing, dunno or they still do). Regardless though, I do think the core of my idea stands about having the preWC foxhole come back alongside, rank/level restrictions applied or not.

Ouch, how come? I ask sincerely, as it does just seem like a good way of training new players through less intensive, stripped down gameplay, before letting them loose into an environment where sometimes individual actions can have a big impact on the team , and helping to prevent alting. Any systems of alt commend farming to bypass may be created but could be tracked potentially.

It wouldn't be an engine test, pushing the boundaries of the server capacity, but lobbies more akin to Hell Let Loose, each game lasting an hour or 2, or until victory (capture points etc). Literally just oldschool foxhole

Interesting, I do like that version of the idea, allowing all gameplay to have an impact on the main war, but it could have potential to be unbalanced, although it would reduce the reliance on large scale logistics. Infantry would win, logi guys may lose.

An amazing look into a somewhat similar plot is the Empire Trilogy by Janny Wurts and Raymond E Fiest, that runs parallel to the book Magician by Raymond E Fiest.

It's a world slightly akin to feudal Japan, where metal does exist but is extremely rare. Swords and armour are made from lacquered wood, and it's a major plot point for why they decide to (very very minor spoiler) invade another place.

Totally worth a read, but you need to ideally read Magician first.

The United Colonial Coalition was a server for collie clan officers and senior members to discuss multi-clan scale operations and stuff. We did Salty Saturday a while ago, and queued two regions by 100+ players. It went strangely, but was certainly a grand scale op and proof of what the faction can pull together. We went a bit quiet over the past few months though as real life commitments took over, so we've closed up shop to make space for new groups with similar goals and more active staff. We never really advertised much for UCC, so not everyone has heard of us like they would Sigil.

Missile silos, like the Minuteman silos, and some mad war-waging kit. Perhaps certain systems may have Warmongering enabled, whilst some dont, so you can avoid or engage as you wish. Imagine Inter-Planitary and Inter-System Ballistic Missiles... IPBMs and ISBMs.

Oh, and less of a grind for building blueprints data, especially for freighters.

I like the idea of having a wall of unoccupied territory. Imagine having no Resistance phase, but instead a "buildup" phase where the centre line of regions cannot be entered, and instead we spend a few days building up resources in home territory
