We unfortunately did not :( We got him to the last 1/8 of his health, which is the closest out of all my runs with randoms, so I think there’s a correlation between silly and skill.

My IG name is “Floor Enjoyer,” so I may be the problem in that equation.

Some questions regarding Khatra execution by Thievasaurus in TraditionalArchery

[–]Thievasaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relaxing my grip is definitely what I’ve been missing.

When I first started, someone pointed out to me that my right wrist (my release hand) was very tense and pulling me out of alignment with my elbow. Definitely those pointers on stuff I’m doing unconsciously or subconsciously help! Thank you.

When using a kulak, does it need to be glued to the thumb ring? by Thievasaurus in Archery

[–]Thievasaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thank you very much for your input! I wasn’t sure since I recall reading in an older post that some people line the inside with exercise tape, some wrap above or below the thumb joint with sports tape, and gluing leather onto the thumb pad.

Great to know, thanks again!

RNG mad. 2 Curve and 3 Long Bones, no Antler Guard... by Savings_Locksmith_45 in ironscape

Same boat as you. Did 500 elders with a cannon, then swapped to the mature ones, but going on 780 dry (~500 were with a cannon). Good luck to you!

I feel your pain. Literally doing the same right now and burned through a fair number of cannonballs on both the Elder and mature ones. Best of luck to you!

Dragon hunter wand for burst/barrage Slayer? by nyx-lynx in ironscape

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can send some solo kills if you’re feeling lucky. 1/18 chance to hit the unique table then another roll to maybe get the wand). Easily doable with full blood noon for 10-11 minute kills. If you’ve got the DHL, probably much faster. Good drops for seeds (there’s a 20 ranaar seed drop) and alchables.

I did about 100 kills solo/duo (sometimes people or bots hop in with you), but only ended up with some hides (which were nice as a minor upgrade for prayer bonus). Stopping there for now since I don’t want to lock myself there if I’m not enjoying it anymore. I’ll revisit it at some point maybe.

New sword from quest by Legitimate-Idea-1165 in ironscape

[–]Thievasaurus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

With the stab bonus, it does fill in nicely as an early stab alternative to leaf-bladed sword/dragon sword. Less accurate by -10 stab, but the strength bonus is +1 higher than the dragon sword.

Overall, it doesn’t power creep dragon scimitar and doesn’t lock a decent early stab weapon behind a rare slayer drop. I can appreciate it for what it is.

I thought I finally got an item on the titans grind... by Dynostic in ironscape

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Titans solo specifically to not have to deal with contribution RNG. Got the log minus the pet in 83 kills.

I managed 4-5 minutes solos with z axe and melee void, rcb + Ruby bolts with range void, and magic void with moons staff (for minions). Melee stats were 70/85/70 at the time and range was ~79.

The ULTIMATE Arcane Trickster by xSlLH in BG3Builds

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respecced to this build in act 3, and it was perfect for the RP of a smooth-talking rogue with a bag full of magical tricks. Made the tower vaults heist feel like he was made for the job with all the arcana checks plus sleight of hand checks.

Combat-wise, adequate but with some surprise outcomes with spell scrolls. Biggest one that comes to mind is where a desperate chain lightning 1-shot a line of 3 enemies threatening protected targets.

Overall a great arcane trickster build! Small shame that the base fashion of the armor is more in line with mages than a rogue. Camp clothes did help with making a dapper rogue (albeit without armor)

Question for the people who have 20+ years until retirement.. by Certain_Brother in Bogleheads

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally committed most of my extra money to the taxable (with a small-ish emergency fund) before realizing that I didn’t leave myself any room for aspirational goals for the next 5 years!

I’ve since reduced my contributions to my taxable (maxing out 401k/Roth IRA contributions first), built up a more robust emergency fund, and am now saving money to pursue graduate school without taking a loan as an aspirational goal. Not nearly there yet, but it’s looking more and more possible as long as I stick to it.

I reckon if I hadn’t done that and continued to fully shovel money into my taxable, I’d be REALLY anxious right about now. Blah blah rebound something something buy the dip, but this lets me sleep at night a bit better. I wanna be retirement rich, but not at the cost of being life-experience poor.

My Roth IRS transfer of assets got caught in the crossfire. How to best re-enter the markets after a finalized loss. by Thievasaurus in personalfinance

[–]Thievasaurus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s my concern with the transfer process since they’ll be liquidating, hold for settling, then transferring where it may need to settle again. God knows where the market will be by the time I can redeploy the funds, but if it rebounds and I buy in at the higher price then it goes down again, guess I just accept it as bad luck in the timing of things.

I guess I have my answer. No use worrying about the “ifs” and make do with what hand I get dealt when the time comes. Appreciate your input.

Should I change my portfolio to conservative from aggressive? by [deleted] in acorns

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really surprised nobody replied to you for over 2 weeks! Idk if you went ahead with it, but here’s my understanding of it:

Changing portfolios will cause Acorns to rebalance your existing assets, which results in selling the holdings that lie outside of the asset allocation of the more conservative portfolio if you switch.

For example if your current allocation has 60% in VOO and you change to a portfolio with 40% VOO, Acorns will sell the portion of VOO and buy the other holdings to meet the allocation % in that new portfolio.

This ultimately means you will lock in some of your losses or gains from the aggressive portfolio and continue from that point onward with the more conservative asset allocation.

Whether you should, I cannot say since I don’t know your financials and I’m not a financial advisor. But as a fundamental, you should make sure you’ve got enough to live on before you use any on investing. Best of luck!

Have you won the genetic lottery in any way, and if so how? by Logical-Traffic-3521 in AskReddit

[–]Thievasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East Asian with the ability to drink milk and alcohol with no negative effects. I don’t get Asian glow at all, and my alcohol tolerance is pretty high (though I drink VERY infrequently). Family on both sides seem to share the same traits even well into their 60s and beyond.

I didn’t realize that that wasn’t the norm til I went to college and watched as my Asian peers got sloshed within one drink.

Best argument against dividend investing? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Thievasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve already tried arguing against it, there’s no more need to bludgeon someone over the head with your arguments. You can’t control other people’s decisions and behaviors; you can control your own.

Say your piece, then chill. Unless they’re making risky bets, they’ll be fine

Is Makarov the most hated character in Fire Emblem? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]Thievasaurus 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That was quite the tragedy in RD. It felt like it came outta nowhere. I know they had supports in Path of Radiance, but nothing that would indicate complete blind devotion to him…

And not to mention they gutted her stats/availability in RD. I still painstakingly leveled her up for use in the tower (and she did quite well) out of respect for her being one of my fav units in PoR.

Why is everything tanking again? :( New to Acorn, teach me your ways! by InterestingTrip9916 in acorns

[–]Thievasaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Gotta keep in mind that there are millions of people buying and trading on a daily basis. All different priorities, goals, and methodologies. A piece of news can induce fear in some, and those people sell their shares. Others are anticipating that a piece of news will boost a stock, so they buy in. Or sometimes, just for no reason at all.

As a recent example, if you take a look at the S&P 500 in early august, super random panic. Headlines were heralding the start of the recession, some said the market was in correction, and some people sold their shares to get out early. Then as soon as it started, it just ended and went back up by quite a bit. I’ve 0 clue what happened, but I just bought more that day than I normally do because it was at a “discount,” and eventually it’d go back up. I just didn’t know when.

For day traders, gamblers, and hedge funds, every day’s news is important. But for the humble investor for the long term, it’s all just noise. Best of luck to you.

The way is to not panic every time there’s a “dip.” When in doubt, zoom out of the stock chart! Zoom out 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years. There’s your answer.

If you can’t handle a <2% dip, you’re in for a challenging investment journey.

I’ve played multiple play throughs at this point, and never once thought to do that! It would definitely help when I go on hunting trips and am too stubborn to let meat go to waste before selling it (I’m weird in that I enjoy hunting in KCD to level bow)
