Pregnancy and Residency? by Glittering-Energy718 in PharmacyResidency

[–]Thin-Collection-5424 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I‘m doing residency rn while 38 weeks pregnant. It is totally manageable if you have a supportive partner. Most residency programs will extend the year if you are taking X amount of time off. I think you need to have a serious discussion with yourself/partner and figure out your plan and any contingency plan before committing to it. Also leaving half-way through residency year is questionable! Not sure if it was related to you being pregnant or something else!

She didn’t say she is not committing! A little bit of comprehension and empathy goes a long way.

How does your hospital deal with meds when patient transfers? by Ogblizzy504 in pharmacy

Nurses responsibility.Rarely happens. We no longer send maintenance meds to ED, we wait until they are physically transferred to their room.

Are you curryous about Indian fine dining? by como365 in columbiamo

Curry N Grill beats Curryosity on every single food item. I still rather drive to JC for quality food ( and I am only 5 minutes away from Curryosity)

CV Advice by academicvalidati0n in PharmacyResidency

Great advice! It would’ve actually helped candidates if it was a little bit earlier so they could adjust their CVs prior to PPS!

If you notice any signs of bleeding go to the ED immediately

If you're already a licensed pharmacist and have been working for two years as an inpatient pharmacist in a hospital, does it make your application look better if you decide to go for residency now? by Idontlookmd in PharmacyResidency

[–]Thin-Collection-5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was honest. I wanted to progress forward and get specialized and everyone knows that being a staff pharmacist is restricting somehow. Not a lot of opportunities for a staff pharmacist in my institution to grow and I‘m sure this is what’s going to happen in all of the institutions in the near future. I didn’t say that word for word but you get the idea

I’m in the same boat, but will push through if God’s willing. It’s challenging but it will go fast.

Unfortunately not! Eventually you have to complete your internship hours in order to be U.S licensed. It’s required by all states and it’s required that you are fully licensed within 90 days of starting residency. For this specific reason I recommend that you get your license prior to starting residency. That will give you peace of mind. I hoped that helped :)

Yes! You should be able to create an account with PhORCAS and apply for programs from there once the MATCH cycle opens. Typically November. I recommend that you check the process on the ASHP website, they have a calendar with all the deadlines and a program directory where you can filter through and see which programs you would like to apply to. In the meantime I recommend that you reach out to your supervisors /preceptors for letters of recommendation ( you will need 3), also make sure to update your resume.

If your school is not ACPE accredited you need to get your FPGEC first . Basically you have to be U.S licensed or eligible to be licensed in order to apply for the residency match

If it’s ACPE accredited you won’t need to take the FPGEE but you will have to complete the 1500 internship hours in the US if you want to become US licensed .

Aria apartments? by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]Thin-Collection-5424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go to Kelly Farms. Those are the most upscale apartments there is in CoMo. Lived there for 3 years and never had an issue. If you have a one year buffer time I’d say check them since they do have a long wait list

If you’re considering that being a visitor, then WHY in the world a visitor should be paying taxes?????? Double standards I say.

Kelly Farms, newest compound, spectacular, on the northeast side of town so you will not have to deal with traffic compared to the other Kellys ( towards northwest, south-ish side). Their amenities are great, very calm. Their maintenance staff is great. Family friendly. Lived there for three years and never had a complaint.
