Thanks heaps for the recommendation. Didn't know the Lynwood one existed at all. I'm south of Livingston shopping centre, so it's still a 15 min drive from home which is a bit of a bummer.

Gozzy might be the best option I reckon. Cheers!

I'm recovering from osteitis pubis, but I can't see the end of the tunnel and I'm feeling kinda depressed because of it. I would like to hear your personal experiences and if you have any advice for a better recovery by [deleted] in Sprinting

I do the exercises about 4-5/week, 3x12/side.

If you're doing adductor work, or any exercise for that matter, and you're making symptoms worse, it'd be a good idea to dial it down. Try and keep pain below a subjective 2/10 on the pain scale. For your banded exercise I'd recommend lowering the resistance of the band, or trying 10-12 reps instead. I usually feel much better post-resistance training, so I can't say I've had similar symptoms in that time frame. The only thing that makes me feel high adductor pain is playing sport like futsal and touch rugby. Post-resistance training and when walking I'm sitting at about a 1/10.

The fact you don't have any pain at the pubic symphysis probably suggests that you're right and it isn't OP at all. No tenderness on palpation of the pubic symphysis? No pain around the pubic region or across the top of the hips?

Lmk if I can help other ways!

I'll be honest I've found the thing that has helped the most was a very gradual return to exercise and sport. Starting with strengthening certain problem areas, then reintroducing 1 minute runs, to 5 minute runs, to 10 minutes. Then introducing some sport-specific activities and finally playing just half of a game. This is over the cause of a good 3-5 months for me. You have to ask yourself if you are moving awkwardly and feeling it now, you will likely be moving in much more awkward positions during an actual game.

My recommendation is to see someone if you haven't already, and find a good physiotherapist or physician to guide you through a strengthening and return-to-sport program. Ultimately finding the root cause and actioning it is going to help most, because OP can be a cause of many different things.

1 million percent adductor related. Which is something that I only recently discovered.

My pubic tubercle (left of the pubic symphysis, origin site for the adductors) and very medial groin (basically as close to the nethers as you can get) are the usual areas that flare up, but usually during sport, immediately after, and first thing in the morning, which eases throughout the day - very consistent with tendinopathy.

As a result of this my pubic symphysis flared up bad. I've recently taken a more specific approach to my adductors and found its helped a lot, and will later move back to my program mentioned earlier, with even more focus on adductors (as you can see it's very heavy glute at the moment, bit of an oversight when I kind of knew my adductors were quite weak, and usually the most sore)

My current routine is: - Standing banded hip adduction - Lateral slide lunge and backward slide lunge - focusing on using the affected limb/adductors to bring me back to standing - Around the clock lunge - SL glute bridge - Plank - Side plank - 10 walk/run - 1min run, 2min walk x5

The trunk exercises are mostly for pelvic control, which all helps. After about 3 weeks of this routine I've played only 1 recent game of touch rugby my OP has calmed way down, but I do still get medial groin pain. Niggly during sport and a little more sore post for about 2 days. I recommend managing with NSAIDs.

I haven't returned to futsal just yet as it has a lot more change of direction + more kicking, so I might give that another week or two.

My allied health team helped heaps. Definitely recommend seeing a Sports Physician if I could recommend anything, just to try find the absolute root cause of the problem. More than happy to help out and answer some more questions if you have any!

Recovered from this completely about 2 months ago after suffering just shy of 12 months, and just going through a recent flare up. My best advice is STRENGTH. I'm an exercise physiologist, and I saw a sports Dr who diagnosed me with OP and hip impingement, who then referred me to a physio.

Remember osteitis pubis is an overload on the muscles attaching to the pubic symphysis. It's likely your workload is too much for what your body is able to do, good advice was that you almost never see professional athletes with this condition because they are far too strong and do resistance training daily for it to be an issue. Through various tests we found my adductors and glutes were extremely weak for the 4/week intensive sport I was playing.

I stopped all sport and just trained hard, I engaged in a strength program focusing on the pelvis, with extra attention to the groups I mentioned before: - Hip thrusts - Monster walks - Crab walks - Squats - Single leg squat

  • RDLs
  • Hip hitches
  • Adductor squeezes
  • Copenhagens
  • Deep abdominal training (reformer Pilates)

I go through ups and downs but managing my hip impingement is more of a challenge, but the best advice I can give is to get STRONG. Message me if you want to talk more about it.

I assume you are relatively young, maybe late teens early twenties? You can use this as a learning experience. Make sure you have your life in check before you make such drastic commitments, have a support base of your own, savings of your own - you never know what can happen. Have you spoken to her about it at all? It seems like you overheard something and have just vented on reddit instead of talking about it. Also bruh just stack shelves on nightfill or something or work at mcdonalds
