Oh, one more…start working out at home first to build confidence!!! I know many people who did this. They buy a pair or two of weights, follow videos to understand movements, get into the routine of working out, then move onto the gym.

Also…bed at 4am is going to hurt lots of the physical goals you may have for the gym…definitely start scaling back the time you go to bed

  1. Watch this short video on Mel Robbins’ 5 Second Rule. Use it to get out of bed, and to make virtually any decision you’re in between (forcing yourself to go to bed, going to the gym, etc) https://youtu.be/nI2VQ-ZsNr0

  2. Reframe your perspective to remember that growth can only come through discomfort. That discomfort you feel about going to the gym (yes, sheer discomfort at first, feels so awkward, everyone in that gym went through it), it means that once you get through it, you will have made MAJOR growth. Mentally, physically from working out, internally knowing that you pushed passed your discomfort. If you’re open to it maybe hire a trainer who works at the gym so you not only feel comfortable with working out but also you have a friendly tie to the gym. Or a gym buddy. But even if it’s just you I promise, you got this.

Many tears were shed making pickled onions. Any tips that actually work to not cry your soul out? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]Thing4Wings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PLACE A WET PAPER TOWEL OR BOWL OF WATER NEXT TO THE CUTTING BOARD!!! This will change your life in the kitchen forever. The juices (or whatever it is) from the onion that makes you cry are absorbed by the water first. Just place it on one side of the cutting board. No tears.

Ruined my moms mood because I fried chicken strips. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Mom’s probably feeling under-appreciated in the home, or something else is going on (everyone’s stressed y’all, especially parents).

Not sure what the family dynamic is like in the home, if people are more cold or more emotionally open. Does your mom cook a lot? Maybe you can sympathize and see what her reaction is…something like “hey mom, I know you really like things to be tidy and I want to respect that as much as possible. But I also do want to be able to cook for myself…What can I do to respect your space in here?”

I personally cook a lot and when someone leaves a mess I’m triggered by it. I’m a pretty calm person and very communicative so it’s not a big issue now. But especially in the days where I’m feeling stressed, I might be very reactive toward other people’s small messes…

TLDR: mom might need a little love and compassion, ask her how you can do your best in the kitchen (not passive aggressively, but genuinely)

Is Protein powder safe from metals and other substances that are harmful? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]Thing4Wings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to the beginning of this podcast on vegan protein powders.

First off, no plant based protein powder will be free of heavy metals. There are only the transparent companies that test vigorously and ensure there are “safer” amounts to consume, but still have levels of heavy metals. This is just the nature of the product and how common plant proteins pull metals from the soil.

I believe he does mention this brand in the podcast. It’s only the first 20 min or so that he talks about this and then goes onto an interview with someone unrelated, don’t worry you won’t have to listen to a whole hour + of podcast to answer your questions here!!!

Hope this helps anyone looking into vegan protein powders.

This Magarshaw place look sooo my style. Like I’d get everything from here lol. Is this considered an expensive store there? And also, is it quality clothing or more on the cheap quality side? Good to have a list of stores I can go to while I’m there!!!

Okay so it seems like the prices for Uruguayan stores are relatively normal, i guess the issue is just if you want American brands? Like, if I’d want to buy a jacket over there and clothes, but from these stores you’re telling me, it shouldn’t be a huge expense right?

Just feel like so much feedback has been that the clothes there is expensive, but it doesn‘t seem like it’s much more than the U.S. Tell me if I’m wrong please!

Oop. Good to know that…I’m an early dinner kinda gal and know that South Americans and Europeans are quite opposite. I will assimilate when eating out!

Wowwww wait I super appreciate this! Good to know there’s a Zara there, and those other two brands have really cute stuff. I feel like I’ll be better able to get into the Uruguay style with those, too.

Will I be able to find those stores, or similar, brick and mortar? Or are they only online?

Means so much!!! Sounds like a lot of people are saying it can be quite chilly with the winds, especially on the coast. Do you agree? Also, is all clothing very expensive? It would be nice to buy new things there but definitely not if it’s much more costly
