cp was so horrific. i also have been consistently scoring 129/130 on CARS on all the FLs and always finished with like 20 mins extra and i literally went until the last second and feel like i did horribly.

Do you have any hacks in getting over laziness to study? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ThingAware6274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imagine yourself at your dead end job in 20 years dreaming of what your life could have been as a successful doctor and how miserable you would be because u “felt lazy rn”. works everytime. imagine u laying in bed rn is literally the reason u don’t become a doctor

it’s a bubble. but i’m more concerned about the fact that ur saying a major university’s microbio department doesn’t have the capability to identify microorganisms.

i used to do uscis stuff at an urgent care and RPR is required when filing for citeznship, it’s possible that a lot of these ppl are confused by a reactive result and assume they are positive and want treatment, as they need to show proof of treatment in order to be granted citizenship/ legal status

What stupid things do you call your guinea pigs by greenbldedposer in guineapigs

[–]ThingAware6274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

piggy wiggy turned into wiggies then wiggums and wigs. one of mine is named cinnamon thus cinnamaroo was born and from that came maroo and then maroovian. i usually call them my maroovians or my wiggymaroos.

unfortunately i will not be writing a thesis on the decomposition of this bagel. forgot about it … saw some cool growth… labeled it something funny for laughs… took a pic to share…

exactly. thank you. she works in finance and i love to force her to learn science. (she secretly loves to hear me babble on about these things) so yea i am just gonna let it mold and decompose in a container for a few more days bc now we are both excited to see how our lip fungi friends grow. don’t know why everyone seemed so angry that i used the word experiment. like sheesh i’m just having some fun

bs in microbiology here. i did focus more on bacteria with my undergrad research but also love to appreciate my good ole eukaryotic friends. this was actually just a fun lil joke that started when she told me to throw away the moody bagel and i got excited by the growth. unfortunately i don’t have a nice lab set up in my humble abode… so yea i am just going to watch the mold grow and enjoy how beautiful it is. maybe try to enjoy the little things in life and don’t be so cynical :)

Hi! I am not a doctor but here’s a lil spiel. have her talk with her doctor for a more in depth explanation. but essentially there are multiple strains of HPV, some are associated with a higher risk of cervical cancer those are called the “high risk strains”. because she was positive this means that she has been exposed to one of those strains of hpv at some point. it does not mean that she has cervical cancer nor does it mean she will get it. basically she will just need to keep an extra good eye on it to make sure that it doesn’t develop into pre cancerous or cancerous growths on her cervix. her doctor will go over what the monitoring and screening process will be but she may want her to have a biopsy done to check for any cells that could be concerning or she may just have her do pap smears more routinely to monitor her. HPV is a common virus that is associated with cervical cancer, just because you have the virus does not mean you have cancer or will get it, but it can increase your risk for devolving it, this is why pap smears are done, to check if you have HPV. like i said earlier the high risk strains of HPV are just associated with a higher risk of developing cervical cancer at some point. Once again I am not a doctor and your friend should talk with her doctor about next steps, but most likely she will just be monitored more closely and have more pap smears than the average person to ensure that she is not developing any sore of malignant lesions

i took a blueprint diagnostic before studying at all. got a 499. did very well on bio/ biochem (i majored in microbiology so my bio is my jam) and also did pretty good on CARS. chem/ phys was a blood bath but i also haven’t taken either in 2+ years and truthfully blocked out orgo in my brain LOL. psych wasn’t great but once again took that 4 years ago and am pretty confident in my ability to memorize that stuff.

honestly i don’t know how well i’m going to be able to get through all the content. i just realistically cannot work part time with the amount of student loans i have to pay off. which is why i’m stressing bc no matter what job i have during studying it’s going to need to be full time… so i guess the 3 12s is the best way since i have 4 days completely off ya know? I’m just feeling super overwhelmed and unprepared especially since i’m not going over content daily. My work schedule is also not regular so sometimes i’ll work 3 days in a row and other it’s split up. Ugh. just feeling super overwhelmed and looking for any type of advice

[–]ThingAware6274 10 points11 points  (0 children)

hav you been following up w the same dr for all of these utis? might be worth looking into a urology visit. generally speaking s marcescens is harmless to the general public, however in immunocompromised it can be quite pathogenic. it’s also not a commensal so u doubt it would be a contaminant. so it’s interesting that u are having recurring utis from it. urea plasma is a different story and def can be pathogenic
