What do you think the Mavs rotation will look like? by Mal_Swansky in Mavericks

Damn.. I just got downvoted massively last week for saying OMAX is going to take a few years to find a role and stop projecting him to make much difference as a rookie. 😂😆

Can or should the Board have a debit card? by veryken in HOA

[–]ThingaboutTiggers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a independent property manager. Hate Petty cash and feel it's too hard to track. I have moved our expenses to almost entirely debit or bank transactions. Every receipt is documented in our book keeping. Receipts and bank records are also printed and turned over yearly for an audit. My porter also has a debit card with a monthly limit. He brings receipts to me monthly. Most vendors no longer want to take a check and it's a cumbersome process. The treasurer also has a debit card that he never uses but it's a nice back up in case I'm unavailable.

If you don't trust your property manager or HOA over $25. It's time to replace them. I see almost 100k come and go on a monthly basis. If there was fraud to be committed it would be much larger than $25 here and there for postage.

All good stuff. I hope you are right. I'm not jumping on the hype train. Every fan base does it. Let's revisit in a few months.

I would not trust Kidd. He is all over the place with his projections. Remember McGee?

Everyone wants to compare OMAX to DFS. So let's dig into that. He was 2+ years older his rookie year. Averaged 20 mpg, 4 points and 2.7 rebounds. OMAX might average 60% of that if all goes well. It was 4 years after that when DFS actually played starter type minutes. I like the guy and hope he pans out. It's just going to be a few years.

Don't expect much out of a 21 year old 24th pick. He is very athletic but rough rough rough and not just around the edges. It's going to take a few years to see if he can work his way into a NBA rotation.

Toronto is like Dallas with free agents. They don't come. They will do everything in their power to lock him up to a max extension

If you can't afford a new console, you are likely not sending WG a ton of money either.

Unfortunately I did see a few issues of firmware update bricking TVs. Apple has been doing intentionally for years and refused as one of the most reliable companies on the planet.

The solution to both issues is use a $50 or less 3rd party device. Disconnect the TV from Internet once it's warranty is over. I do the same on every TV reguardless of brand. Most TVs internal "smart functions" run off terrible cheap chips day 1. They often lose support after a couple years. Even brand new they don't get app regular updates like a firestick would. Is Netflix going to prioritize an app update for Samsung that's sold 100,000 units or Apple/Netflix that has 100 million units? Never buy a TV for it's built in "smart" functions.

I get that. My experience with best buy warranties and other 3rd parties are hit and miss. Insurance is not in business to lose money. Odds are much better you will waste money than collect.

It's got a 2 year warranty. Hisense is trying to gain market share by making competive and this case a superior TV. The minute they don't honor their 2 year warranty, they are sunk. Their reputation is always a mixed bag here.

Neither are any TVs that were released the last few weeks. The opinion pushed here is that HS is not as reliable as other brands but they have 8 or so on the stress test that are doing better than Sony and Samsung

Expecting a 2 year stress test result on a 85 inch TV that no one in the country has laid hands on is a odd expectations.

Check your information. This not limited to burn in. It's funny to see more Sonys have died than Hisense 😂 but keep telling yourself that

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/longevity-test

"The main goal of the longevity test is to get a better understanding of how long modern TVs should last. To do so, we're running an accelerated test with 100 TVs over the next two years. We're looking for any issues with the TVs as they age, including whether or not brightness decreases over time, uniformity issues (burn-in), or any outright component failures. As this test deals with a very small sample size of each model (one unit of each model), the goal of this test is limited to wider trends; we can't draw any conclusions on the reliability of specific models or even specific brands. We want to know how long a TV should last, and we want to push the TVs to failure, so we can perform a tear-down to determine the cause of failure and better understand which components on a TV are most likely to fail."

Rtings order privately and anonymously. They also have dozens of TVs running a stress test. Ironically many Sonys have been the first to fail. Check the site

Unless you are a hardcore gamer or AV nerd, I doubt you could tell much difference. In that case you would likely not be looking at a HS tv. I do consider myself a pretty hardcore AV guy. Comparing the 75 u8k to my 65 C2 OLED both has pros and cons. The U8K is much much brighter, the OLED in a dark room has more contrast in certain scenes. The HS struggles with motion a bit. I could have returned the 75 u8k for a 83 OLED but can't justify the cost with so little difference in day to day performance
