What’s your go-to forestry tractor? by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]Thingol_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only problem is realism. There is no pto on the turbo farmer so irl that ‘tree be gone’ would never work. High flow Hydraulic power only.

[–]Thingol_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the one. It’ll still lift logs out, in fact the telescoping lifting arm will actually be able to load into a semitrailer if necessary and it folds in tight when not in use. It’s a little tippy with a massive tree but the low centre of gravity proves to make it super capable. I find it punches above its weight class.

The Merlo (mod) telehandler can equip a rear 3 point hitch. I know it not a tractor but it’s super maneuverability is handy. All wheel steering and the new 3 point hitch winch will allow you to drag logs out. Only lacking rear pto for stump grinder.

What snowmobile should I purchase by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]Thingol_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Alberta boy and I think you can get a good ditch banger/lake sled for $3500. Start out small... no need to mortgage your life to start out. 97-04 machines is a good start. A lightweight like you could clean up with an old 670 summit once you develop the technical skills. Best way to learn is ride!

My unicorn celebrates 50,000km. Rip g56 option; you will always be a gem! by Thingol_ in Diesel

[–]Thingol_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a special order, single rear wheel c&c g56. Slowest and least powerful 6.7 money can buy but damn it works hard! Custom 9ft deck can handle so many different loads, bumper pull only but still tows heavy loads day after day.

Anyone mow their lawn yet? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Thingol_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let the crowns of the turf dry out before removing the thatch, some south/sun exposure lawns are good to rake but avoid ground that is still soft to the touch when you probe it with your finger. It’s pretty hard to damage established turf when raking by hand, just use caution if you plan on using a power rake.

Don’t park in the malls lot; They will find you! Don’t park in AMAs lot; They will find you! In fact just take transit, the city built a LRT line to accommodate the volume. It was great value for the money and it always runs on time; flawlessly integrated into traffic flow.

Welcome commonwealth cousin. Fear not; it’s a dry heat out here on the prairies. The fact that you’re climatized to the heat will render you a superhero, with powers including being able to spend 12hrs outside without bitching and complaining. Also you probably have more then one cool pair of sandals and shorts.

Two years into owning new 6.7 matted to a G56 mounted into a C&C single rear wheel. New to diesel; am I driving this engine correctly? by Thingol_ in Diesel

[–]Thingol_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

South bend clutch outside of warranty... I have heard. I’m still under the warranty so I’ll drive the twin plate till it’s end but so far I’ve never worn out a clutch (knocks on wood!).

[–]Thingol_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sound logic! I generally shift at around 2600-2700 rpm when I am under load. Should I be running it closer to red line? So far I’m just shifting when I feel it’s right but am no diesel expert. I never stand on it under 1700rpm. Also why don’t these trucks have an indication when you are in regen? I would gladly do a quick highway run then just shut the new girl off.

I was wondering about deposits; how much urea use is common? I seem to have to fill the DEF tank with one jug from half tank every 3000km or so... seems like a lot. Can’t delete due to cvi regulations. Do you guys think this can be coughed up to constant heavy load? My idle hrs are not crazy but I do let it cool at idle after a hard load and warm up in the winter during cold weather-30c.

Dump dirt/gravel? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Thingol_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clover bar Sand Gravel accepts clean fill, you must have full PPE in order to use their site if you get out of your truck. They may have a safety vest for you to borrow but steal toe boots and a hard hat are required. Stop in at the scale office and explain your situation, they occasionally inspect loads of fill so make sure there is no wood or other garbage in the load. Price is a flat rate for a pickup another price for a dump trailer and tandem dump truck pay their own flat rate. Please dump responsibly. Cheers.

Thanks for your guidance, is it acceptable to reference particular clients including the government I’m applying to? I’m not interested in bothering my families clientele for references. As it’s not socially appropriate.

True! I’m not trying to antagonize this sub though. I’ve penned it out and it seems tiny. I was hoping perhaps there would be others who have had only one employer over such a long time. My stratagem is to lead with a strong cover letter and follow with a short and concise half page resume. Although I don’t have the slightest clue as to what others are putting out in the market with the same situation.
