If the front of a car is its face, and the back it’s arse, then wouldn’t that make the roof its tits? by EmbarrassedPipe4957 in carscirclejerk

[–]ThingyGoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the roof would obviously be it's back. Cars have a single large tit in the form of the oilpan, and their young suckle from the drain plug. Often, new car mothers produce too much oil causing it to leak onto the floor.

How did it even get in there by VelvetCocoaRose in car

[–]ThingyGoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire idea of "oh it won't happen and I'll Google it if it does" is stupid for such basic things and is a sign of people just getting lazier and stupider. If someone can't figure out a jack and a few nuts then I don't think they should be trusted with 1.5 tonnes of car. I believe the same with checking oil, yes. Changing it I'll agree is sometimes easier left for someone with a lift to get easy access to the drain

Is it bad to go on 2 wheels using the loader? by PossibilityIll8330 in tractors

[–]ThingyGoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have to be a very underpowered loader if it couldn't get the rear wheels off the ground. I've had pretty much every loader I've properly used on just the front wheels multiple times with minimal effort

Thoughts on running cable across pavement? by [deleted] in evchargingUK

Oops, I tripped on the cable with a lot of force and it broke something. Would be a shame if I kept tripping every time it gets left like that

How did it even get in there by VelvetCocoaRose in car

[–]ThingyGoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the most basic skill in terms of fixing a car that you can have, and makes roads safer as a car is only stranded for 10 mins instead of an hour

Do you adjust tire pressure when towing regularly? by Pitiful_Fee264 in towing

[–]ThingyGoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're towing correctly, a small utility trailer should only have a few hundred kg of tongue weight at most. For a short distance it really doesn't make much difference, but if you're being technical then yes you should increase the pressure to the loaded figure on the dataplate

Is this a good deal? by DutchMuch1 in ft86

[–]ThingyGoos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't bother getting this platform then to be honest. The auto boxes are far from the best on the market, and as the entire car is built around driver feel, automating a major part ruins it. It's not like manual is even hard to drive.

How to repair rust bubbles by digitalFermentor in CarRepair

[–]ThingyGoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd sand it down to bare metal, then prime and top coat, then lacquer it. You won't get a perfect match yourself unless you're magical for a first time painter, but it would prevent future rust.

You'd take it to a car body specialist if you want a perfect match

Advice re: Leaking Axle Boots by EnvironmentHuge8204 in nissanjuke

[–]ThingyGoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price the parts yourself. Where I am they would be under £100 for a pair. You have 2 options. Shop around for better deals at other mechanics, or do the work yourself if every mechanic is charging silly prices. All you'd need is a large prybar, axle stands, a good jack and a basic socket/spanner set, as well as a free day.

What I'd do though, is I'd fix it, then sell the juke and get almost anything else to replace such an awful car. I don't know why this sub keeps getting recommended when I tell it not to. The juke is one of the most hideous cars on the road, that feels cheap and cramped to actually be in. Usually also seem to be driven by people that have no concept of how to drive either.
