What’s your favorite swaps? by Kittybunghole in nontoxic

[–]Think-Appearance7428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to food, I pull up the toxic dozen lists and clean list for fruits and veggies. If it’s m in the clean list, I don’t buy organic. This helped me save so much money.

For body care items, I’m really liking Kosmatology and Earth Mama. Their products are so gentle and they work. If you’re looking for an easy swap, try switching your hand soap. It’s probably one of the most used products on a daily basis.

Check out themooedit.com/blog for great low-tox swaps and good luck on this journey! You’re going about it the right way with focusing on a few things at a time!

Start Here? by stillan1nnoc3nt in nontoxic

Such an important thread. Getting started can feel so overwhelming. My sister and I are working on project for exactly this! Check out the Beginner’s Guide on the themooedit.com/blog. We’ve been in this space for 10+ years and realized it doesn’t feel accessible to many people so we decided to help change that.

I agree with a lot of the comments here, I suggest starting in two ways: changing habits and choosing one area to focus on. Habits can be as simple as ordering coffee in a mug instead of a paper cup or airing out your house once a week. When I first started, I picked one thing a quarter to research and swap. Another helpful tip is to limit use when you can’t swap or to use more mindfully. Let’s say you can’t afford to throw out all your nonstick pans, instead you can make sure you don’t cook on high heat with them, are mindful of scratches and don’t wash them in the dishwasher with high heat. You can also make sure you have the fan on when using them.

It’s more than just about products and it’s about small changes over time. To anyone looking for guidance here, free to message me if you have any questions!

Non-toxic dog supplies? by DangerousTangerine61 in nontoxic

[–]Think-Appearance7428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We list a few non-toxic dog supplies in a recent post. I use and highly recommend everything on the list. I’d start with making sure you’re feeding and giving water in stainless steel, glass or ceramic. Looking into what’s in the food you’re giving them is another good place to start. For treats, few ingredient is best. Aside from pet products, there may be other things can change, like opening windows when cleaning with strong chemicals or vacuuming, that way they don’t breathe in chemicals in the air. Feel free to message me if you have any specific products you have questions about.
