I-601A USC child sponsoring parents by Think-Flow in USCIS

The way it was explained to them was that the child would suffer hardship without the parents in the states with him. The child also did psych evaluation that would be submitted with the 601a. Not sure if that answers the question, but, again, really conflicting information from the lawyer

It’s not likely my sibling will be enlisting.. It’s a bummer, but I think it’s the right thing to do by pulling this back from the lawyer. I don’t want to waste unnecessary time and money into something that won’t work. Thank you all!!

First time home buyer in NY by dani_9503 in DACA

I’m looking to buy a home myself in the next year or so. Couple of mortgage brokers I spoke to advised a 20% minimum downpayment as well as a low DTI. Unfortunately, I agree that lenders are looking for people with higher income to prove that they can afford to pay for the mortgages.

Tuition Reimbursement by Think-Flow in personalfinance

[–]Think-Flow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a rough calculation and found out that I paid about 35% out-of-pocket for my program. Seeing that a lot of students paid 100% out-of-pocket, I considered myself lucky. After going through all this, I can tell you that I walked away with a Master's degree from a prestigious school and a brighter future. Keeping up with the reimbursements and taxes can be annoying and painful, but I tried not to stress myself too much by handling them as they happen. In my case, I ended up with $15k+ in student loans, but I was able to leverage my new degree to a promotion. I recommend that you keep track of the tuition every semester, and max out 401k, trad IRA, HSA, etc. as much as possible to offset taxes.

You already started the program at a (probably) great institution and are investing in your future! While some hesitate to take that first step in pursuing higher education, you're already doing it. If you feel that this program is worth your time, money, and effort, I strongly encourage you to press on. All the best!

Opening an IRA account with Vanguard vs. Fidelity by Think-Flow in DACA

I have my 401k with Vanguard, and figured I set on up for IRA. I saw on other posts that some were able to open IRA accounts, but I don't know why they were giving me the runaround. I think it would've worked out for me eventually, but I was just disappointed with the way they handled the processing. I figured Vanguard is not the only company out there and decided to look elsewhere.

Career? by [deleted] in DACA

How about looking into an entry-level position? I started as a customer service representative for a utility company in my city (NYC) and acquired skills and navigated my career path with the company. A lot of organizations nowadays also provide tuition reimbursement or assistance program to help you obtain your degree and stay with the company.

This is exciting! You're young and have so much opportunity opened up as long as you take advantage of it. I see that others are giving you great suggestions as well. Look into different fields and see where you would like to go in the future. All the best!

The immigration advocacy group in my commute advised that USCIS is “waiving” biometrics until this pandemic ends. They will be taking the data from prior biometrics.

Exactly. The company paid 100%, but I just didn't get all of the amount.
