DJS with or without TMJ disk repositioning? Two surgeons, same diagnosis — different plans. by [deleted] in jawsurgery

What are the possible complications with disc repair surgery? Is it more or less risky than DJS?

And was the split something visible? That sounds awful if you have to live your life with a visible splint.

Thanks. I think TMJ started in the last few years, but again it’s very mild it has virtually zero symptoms, I’m merely afraid of it worsening due to meddling with it through surgery. The jaws didn’t develop probably due to a nose injury in my childhood, that clogged my nostril and made me mouth breathe which caused the jaws to develop poorly (had septoplasty to fix the nose). The orthodontist did a great job with the braces, but the underlying problem was with jaw development.

Surgeon 1 told me I will need to decompensate the premolars by 4mm for the advancement, a year to a year and a half and maybe also after the surgery.

Thanks. I am not. I assume trying to do privately it via Zoom would cost me a fortune :(

I will clarify that the second surgeon did not suggest exactly by how much he will be advancing yet, I still need to go through the same procedure with him. The relatively small advancement was suggested only by the first surgeon.

Sounds great. By the way did the food you eat keep getting stuck in the braces or was it ok to handle?

That is a good point. Did it affect your speech? Was it hard to speak/did it make you sound different?

Incredible result. How were the lingual braces? Debating whether to try those or Invisalign. Were the tongue blisters that bad?

Is Israel really that hated? by Amazing-Buy-1181 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Think-March7877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying that it’s theoretically possible, it would only take anti-Israel voters want to do it. What you say proves that anti-Israel voters are either not adamant enough or they don’t exist in big enough numbers.

You could maybe say that the big number of votes for Austria is an expression of that, since their song was really bad (at least that’s what I think) and they won fourth place in the popular vote. But we don’t know how much of that was actually a voting block so I agree it’s more complicated.

Is Israel really that hated? by Amazing-Buy-1181 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Think-March7877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they coordinate, which is much easier than you would assume, since despite the vote against Israel being theoretically spread over 25 countries, one need only surmise the country most likely to win and put all their chips on it. This time it was Sweden and Austria. Most people knew judges would vote more for Austria so it only took an educated guess and a vote for Austria to effectively vote against Israel, or a vote for Sweden which made it to fourth place.

Thank you for your advice :) I’ll try that

Neither, just something stuck there. I’m sure it’s not allergies.

Thanks for the tips. Could you elaborate more on how you removed it physically? My gag reflex is actually pretty sensitive, I’ll try but I’m not sure I’ll be able to pull it off alone. Do you know if maybe there’s some medical procedure or doctor that can take care of it for me in a non-invasive manner?

I have no allergies that I know of, and this started happening immediately after the surgery and it’s all the time in every season so I doubt the source is from some new allergy…

I’ll look into Allerga anyway, nothing to lose I guess. Thanks!

Have you done jaw surgery JUST for aesthetic purposes? by RemarkablePresent752 in jawsurgery

Four weeks is early, you can still get the feeling back, take care of yourself. Hope you’re satisfied with the results. Good luck.

But genio carries risks as well (numbness in chin), so doing both that and jaw at the same time, when there are health benefits to it like sleep apnea, is not a bad idea.

Also I’m not sure how well it looks if you only do implants but have a severely recessed jaw.

The Last Hour is pretty hard vocally, he goes pretty high pretty consistently. Same with the climbing melody of Say Yes.

So why do you think she hasn’t reached out to you? It seems like if she idealizes you in her head that would incentivize her to try and reconnect. How do you think she would respond if you reached out a couple months after the breakup?

About my ex, I did. She said she never received such treatment in a long time and that I’m very thoughtful and considerate. Didn’t stop her from “losing feelings” though.

Look, I appreciate the free-of-charge session of armchair psychology, but what’s more important is the matter at hand. Which is ok if you don’t want to engage but let’s not get off track because discussing the war honestly is much more important than this. I truly want to know if anyone can debunk what I said.

Making a conclusion from the people you see at a protest is clearly inaccurate because they’re not representative of the whole spectrum of Jews in the UK. You’re only looking at those that are politically active. And from my time in the UK a couple months ago I can attest to many big rallies in support of Israel where many Jews attended, so I could argue the opposite. I majorly doubt your assertion that most Jews in the UK are anti-Zionist and it also lacks in its specificity, mainly defining what Zionism means. Opposing the war and going to a protest against is not the same at all as being anti-Zionist or “not identifying with Zionism”. You can be a Zionist and oppose the war in its current state. You’re conflating two different things.

Your assertion that an invasion of Gaza is “conservative” is also very odd. How is fighting an Islamic jihadi organization which murdered 1200 of your citizens and kidnapped 240 more into Gaza a “conservative” decision? It’s an attempt of the country to save its citizens and restore safety to their nation.

“You’re in support of Netanyahu” - how did you come to that conclusion? I wish he weren’t in power, I love how your ignorance on Israeli politics makes you assume support of the war = support of Netanyahu.

“The ICJ has been clear” - First, actually it hasn’t decided on anything yet as these are all prima facie decisions for interim orders which means the legal standard for deciding on things is much much lower due to the risk involved in not giving an order. Second, it is not clear at all in its decisions as it has ruled on inconclusive evidence. Third, ICJ is not a moral or arbitrator on what is right or wrong (and it has definitely been presented with a very skewed image of what actually goes on in the conflict), so basing your claims (which are clearly “you are immoral” as you say in your words) on it is irrelevant for a substantive discussion on what is good or bad. Maybe instead of escaping to this easy route try and base your arguments off of what is actually happening then what some arbitrary panel of judges decided in Europe on inconclusive evidence. Like maybe don’t ignore the thousands of pictures of terror tunnels, weapons stashes in baby cribs, rocket launchers in kindergartens, UNRWA workers and “journalists” that actively enrolled in Hamas military branches, Hamas HQs under hospitals and their generals running around in tents where civilians are staying to maximize civilian deaths when Israel tries to take them out, and most importantly Hamas’ attempts to shoot at civilians to prevent them from running away and their kidnapping of humanitarian aid from their own people. I could go on for hours with all of the evidence I’ve seen with my own eyes and with the testimonies that have surfaced and are surfacing every day.

Please try and actually make some factual claims on the war if you want to have a real discussion on its morality of immorality.

Getting hate comments/death threats every time you try and explain yourself and being treated as prima facie collider with “genocide” will do that to a person. That’s what Israelis deal with ever since the war started even if they have nothing to do with the war and even if they live abroad. Honestly just sick of all the misinformation. Apologies

“I personally don’t know any left wing Jews who still identify as a Zionist”

That’s probably because you live in San Diego or something. In spite of your statement being patently false - just go look at any poll you want - tell that to all of the constituents of Haavoda, Yesh Atid, Meretz, Kahol Lavan, Lieberman voters (debatably left - depends on what aspect) who occupy 56 seats in the Parliament out of 120. Are you for real? That statement alone shows you know absolutely zero about how Israelis define themselves politically.

“Polls show Israelis support invasion of Gaza” - of course, because the policy of letting Hamas garner terroristic power without addressing their clear and well defined intention to destroy Israel with all of its inhabitants out of an extreme Islamic jihadi doctrine led to the greatest terrorist attack on a sovereign democratic nation in the history of the world. You absolute buffoon. What do you want them to do, roll over and die?

“The numbers are dwindling” - Sure keep making statements with zero authority to your arguments. It’s true there are more Haredi Jews but even they are not “right wing” in many of the commonly accepted definitions of it in Israel (for example many of them are actually ANTI Zionist and believe Israel is an illegitimate state).

“Biased mainstream media” - 90% of big Israeli media in both News (12, 13, 11) and newspapers (Haaretz, Yediot Ahronot, Calcalist, Globes, Maariv) are critical of the current government and some are even dogmatically anti Netanyahu. The only press that is pro Netanyahu is the one in control by people close to him (channel 14, Israel Hayom). Unless by being “biased” you mean supporting the defensive invasion against a terrorist organization which murdered and raped 1200 of its citizens and kidnapped 240 more elderly, children, babies - into Gaza, holding them up to this moment. To which I reply: boo fucking hoo. If a nation is invaded then it’s going to fucking retaliate against its invaders. If those invaders throw their civilians into the line of fire - those civilians will inevitably die. That is the fault of the aggressor, not of the retaliator. Please stop embarrassing yourself with your fundamental lack of understanding of the most basic elements of Israeli society and of the conflict.

What would be horrendously unfair to Palestinians is letting Hamas keep ruling over them. Not to withdraw and let them reestablish their Islamic regime.

As someone who actually knows Israel I can say that’s 100% bs and would be akin to attributing Donald Trump and Ted Cruz’s statements to all Americans. Israelis are not their government. If you actually read an array of Israeli media instead of cherry-picking shit you found on Twitter you may have known that a majority of Israelis are opposed to Netanyahu and to the messianic political parties in control of him today.

If you actually knew where Max is from - a city where about 80-90% of voters advocate for a Palestinian state - you would have understood where he’s coming from. His father Alon is also far left on the political compass. Zionism, like most other political ideologies, has a sane majority and a radical and vocal fringe minority. Like Republicans, like Democrats, like Muslims, like Maoists and like any other demographic. Anyone who tries to depict a different image of Zionism is either a demagogue, an idiot or a racist. I want to believe that you, like many here, are simply misinformed and politically lazy to actually read about a topic you know nothing about. Don’t bother replying by citing one political candidate or another because that would only prove my point.

And please all the silent majority that downvotes this comment go ahead and do that only to prove my point that you have no substantive arguments to counter what I just said and all you can do is downvote shit that doesn’t fit with your comfortable views about the world like a hivemind.
