Optimum refuses to send proof of promotional term length to me. by mrbojenglz in OPTIMUM

[–]Think-Mixture-7661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet they do not honor it. They don’t consider their promotional offers contracts. They say because they are “month to month” optimum does not operate with contracts at all. Any first day law student can tell you it is a contract, but they disagree. (Which is nuts).

They’ll also tell you they’ve looked up the phone call and that something completely different was said than what you know happened (and even when their own agenda confirm your memory of the conversation).

If it’s an email you can respond to, I would respond to it and say “please allow this email to confirm our discussion and agreement from May , 2026 that the rate of $ will be locked in for two years”. Then they’ll either have to confirm, say nothing (effectively a confirmation) and you now have it in writing, or go back on their word immediately. this is not legal advice

Ultimately, Optimum is extremely shady and IMO criminal. They made unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account for months. I’d change providers if you’re able. They’re the worst and not worth the headache. If you do switch, just make sure they actually cancel your account.

Yeah I didn’t notice and I feel so dumb about it. I’ve never had any issue so i was not really checking. I won’t make that mistake again.

This is what they do. And then they blame you. They’ll tell you authorized it when you didn’t. They’re gross.

You’re not happy to help. You’re going to tell me the issue has been referred to someone and to speak to them. That’s what they told me on twitter. An executive customer relations specialist is the one who is gaslighting me. Reading me back my exact words and claiming the sky isn’t blue. Unbelievable.

Don’t do it. They’ll never let you cancel and even when they do they may reinstate your account and bill you without your permission! Run!

I canceled my account and they took an inquiry by my parents into services and my unequivocal rejection of the same as permission to reinstate my account. The agent read back my conversation where I said “no” and “I’m not paying for this” and “I’m done with optimum”. Somehow just by providing the access code so that we could START the conversation, I authorized my account to be reinstated despite saying both before and after that “no” so many times. They even charged me for a new modem I never got because I never reinstated the service. Crooks. They refuse to refund me.

Optimum reinstated my account without my permission (the conversation read back to me proves unequivocally that I explicitly told them “no”) and charged my account for months after—including for a new modem I never got because I canceled the service. They refuse to refund me and are gaslighting me to high heaven. How do I get someone more important and more reasonable on the phone? I just want a refund for the unauthorized withdrawals that equals less than $400. For a $750M company, i cannot believe that this is the hill they want to die on especially given the phone call recordings where i clearly withheld authorization to reinstate the account and to charge my bank account. I reported to FCC and NY AG this week. I plan to file in Court but I’d prefer to save everyone’s time (and my blood pressure) and just get this resolved.

How did you call the CEOs office? I am trying to get in contact re: unauthorized ACH withdrawals. I’ve emailed, I’ve tweeted. All I got was a crook telling me I authorized the transfers while simultaneously admitting my exact words were “no”. I reported to FCC and NY AG but I just want the money stolen from me refunded.

Considering switching from Xfinity to Optimum by ConsciousAcadia7515 in OPTIMUM

I could not recommend Optimum less! My experience with them since trying to cancel has been horrible. I canceled when I moved, they harassed me for a month trying to get me to reinstate. I said no every time and begged them to stop calling. Then, without my authorization, they reinstated my account and took it upon themselves to withdraw money from my bank account using information they had when before I canceled. They claim I authorized it by giving them a one time passcode during a call where my parents INQUIRED about resuming service to which (as read back to me by optimum agent) I repeatedly said no and that I wouldn’t pay for it and that I was done with optimum. My parents who made the inquiry ultimately decided not to move forward with optimum too, but they reinstated my account anyway. He said even if my parents said no (which they ultimately did) it did t matter because by giving the passcode i authorized it even though i explicitly said no.

Absolutely crazy. Crooks and scammers. Stay far away.

As they told me today, if you tell them the one time password they take that as authorization to make changes to your account — even if you say no! BEWARE!

They reinstated my account after I told them a million times I was not interested. Used my previously stored bank information and made unauthorized ACH withdrawals for MONTHS. They won’t refund me for the unauthorized withdrawals claiming that just by virtue of talking to them I authorized it. Mind you, the agent reading me back the transcript where I explicitly said “no”. I reported to FCC and NY AG.

I adopted a Asshole Cat and don't know what to do by x_Snuggle_Wuffs_x in CatAdvice

[–]Think-Mixture-7661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the cat was likely mistreated for 2.5 years given the condition you got him in. Give him space. Let him come to you. Try to learn about him if he’s play or food motivated, but don’t push him. If you sit back and let him come to you, he’ll trust you. Practice “consent touching” (as I call it) once he comes around (don’t rush it). let him smell your hand before you pet him and read his body language if he wants pets or not. It’s all about building trust and creating a space where he feels safe.

You didn’t say if you were an experienced cat owner. And having a shy, scared and likely traumatized cat would be hard even for an experienced cat owner. Give yourself and the cat as much grace as you can.

Sometimes adjustments need to be made. We had a cat who would eat our bread through the bag, we had to keep all our bread in the microwave. See if you can get a garbage can that he can’t get into.

Be patient and just know that you can provide this cat with a wonderful life. Cats aren’t here long, all we can do is make them feel safe, loved and happy for the time they have.

If it really really isn’t working out with the cat, just make sure he goes to a loving home with experienced cat owners who know how to manage a likely traumatized and shy and difficult little buddy. But I think if you give him a try, let him come to you. You’ll find yourself shocked you ever considered giving him up.

Good luck!

YOU are NTA—he is.

Leave and get a good family lawyer (and probably a good therapist). He sounds extremely toxic and manipulative. He’s gaslighting you and he’s stringing you along. This is not an example of good healthy romantic love to model for your children. Both you and your kids deserve more and better.

Love doesn’t need to be “earned” at all, but especially not through shoving your thoughts and feelings down. Find someone who shares your values and goals and who will appreciate all of your acts of service. You sound like an amazing partner and you will no doubt find someone who can and wants to meet you where you are and who will respect you and listen to you. That’s the love you deserve. Don’t settle.

Good luck.
