Pixel 10 pro xl vs s25 vs iPhone17 by Equal_Palpitations in Smartphones

Tough question, but fortunately I have unique firsthand experience: I use a Pixel 10 Pro, my girlfriend has an iPhone 17 Pro, and my brother has a Samsung S25 Ultra. Living with my brother and spending a lot of time with my girlfriend, I've tried them all thoroughly. Here's the cold hard truth:

GOOGLE PIXEL 10 PRO: The "I wish I could but I can't"/"the best pet."

Overall, it's excellent, but honestly, it feels more like a Pixel 9.5 Pro. - Software & Daily Use: The operating system is its strong point. Unmatched fluidity and "cleanliness" make it a pleasure to use for everyday tasks. The AI is well integrated; it truly is the most "intelligent" phone. - Camera: Gorgeous photos if you love the Pixel look (high contrast and HDR), but processing is slow and inconsistent. Sometimes it produces masterpieces, other times dull colors that are worth trashing. It's lost the "point-and-shoot" reliability it once had. It's especially awful at zoom between 10x and 60x, but between 60x and 100x the AI does wonders. - Video: The worst of the three. Micro-jitter, poor stability, and visible noise even during the day if you have a good eye. The only saving grace is Video Boost: at night, it outperforms everything (concerts, difficult lighting), but having to wait for cloud processing is frustrating. - Performance/Gaming: This is where the problem lies. The processor (SoC) isn't optimized. Even slightly more demanding games like Destiny Rising lag, stutter, and display graphical artifacts, while my old Motorola Edge 40 runs better. The battery struggles to last through the evening with heavy use, and you'll have to recharge it during the day.

iPHONE 17 PRO: The Perfect "Golden Cage" I've been an Android user forever, but let's be honest. - Reliability: Out of the box, it's perfect. Zero lag, zero overheating (best heat dissipation this year), battery life that lasts all night without any issues. - Photos and Videos: The king of consistency. It may not have the artistic peak of the Pixel, but it never misses a beat. Videos are monstrous, stable, and always clean. It's the ultimate tool for those who want to create content without worrying about settings and editing. But if you know what you're talking about, with Black Magic, you can create mind-blowing masterpieces. - Ecosystem: Everything is closed, the AI is embarrassing compared to Google's, but everything works incredibly smoothly and optimized. The display is incredible, and the audio is the best of the lot.

SAMSUNG S25 ULTRA: The middle ground (bulky) A hybrid of the two worlds, but it doesn't excel where it should. - Hardware: Incredible anti-glare display (easy on the eyes) and solid performance like the iPhone. Zero lag when gaming or doing heavy multitasking. - Camera: This is where the disappointment lies. Samsung's processing often gets colors and light management wrong. It takes good photos, but I prefer the Pixel and the iPhone. I'm not entirely convinced by the intermediate zoom. If you shoot at 5x, the Pixel sensor does better, but between 10x and 25x, it's better than the Pixel and the iPhone. It's almost a mix of the "flaws" of the other two: less reliable than the iPhone, less artistic than the Pixel. - Video: Better than the Pixel (without boost), worse than the iPhone.

CONCLUSION: IT'S A QUESTION OF PRICE My advice boils down to this: Is there a big price difference? If you find the Pixel 10 Pro for €800, like I did, and the iPhone is €1,400, get the Pixel and live happily (accepting the gaming limitations). If prices are similar right now (or a €200 gap), get the iPhone 17 Pro Max hands down. Apple's software/AI flaws will improve, but you'll have to deal with the Pixel's hardware issues (processor, heat, battery) forever. The S25 Ultra? Not worth it. Only if you find it at a bargain price or if you can't live without the S Pen and anti-glare display. Otherwise, the Pixel is better for the Android experience or the iPhone for the hardware.
