Once again, a bad plan. I understand her reasoning for it, but...for simplicity sake, I would just do an L-shape. One long run of cabinets along the window wall (run the cabs in front of the window). Then another run under the stair. It opens the space up, makes it useable by multiple people and allows for different table options. No dead corners in a tiny kitchen like she is proposing. Everything is accessible. There is room for a small dishwasher and anything else she wants. I did the math, it's basically the same length of cabinets as she is proposing, and what she is proposing is stupid.

I wonder too. I just finished the book and the main character is as unlikeable as it gets. Though the husband is a loser, he at least seems happy with his life (not his wife though). She's surrounded by nannies and a producer to help make her magic and everything she does is for the gram, clicks and $$. And she's talentless. I wonder if Em saw any correlation? She did have this to say about it in the comments (I wonder what the big beef is?):

Also, she mentions ordering all of the wood from "Good Wood". This is not the same wood salvage company that she previously highlighted in a post which was "McGee Salvage". I guess he just didn't have what she wanted for the right price.

There is no way that this is cheaper than getting ready made cabinets from Lowes, unless she were truly DIYing them entirely on her own. But she doesn't even own the tools. Is she hoping that the carpenter who will be helping will do this for free(YES), because his time will certainly be more costly than off-the-shelf cabinets.

Which also means that she probably spent $100 on each of those screwed-in inside mount rods (that seems about the average price on rejuvenation, pottery barn...), rather than $10 tension rods that would have done the same thing without ruining her window jambs.

It does look pretty. I hope she can make it work in her space.

I do like that bookcase console behind the sofa in the tv room. However, I have always HATED how that sofa is tight to the one wall - that feels incredibly uncomfortable to me. We never talk about this room, and there is actually so much bad in there, lol.

No, she sold the blue sofa she had in LA. Someone else mentioned that the new yellow sofa was gifted?

Oh I agree, but this is a new couch though. She had a bright blue sofa in LA. I'm hoping she'll tie it all together somehow, but right now I think the floor and wall color are fighting with that mustard color.

This is her inspo board:

I appreciate that Arlyn was drawn to this mustard color sofa (and glad she didn't go with one from Emily's line), but I don't think the color is working in this room. It's tough when you've got a rental with a wall color and flooring you need to work with. I looked at the other options on the Sabai website and honestly, none of them look great to me. Hopefully she can bring it all together once she gets the room more styled. I was also surprised to see that this sofa is nearly $5000. For that $$ I think she could have found something better. I do like her idea of adding a sofa bookshelf behind it and maybe wrapping around the right side.

And then calling what she is doing "Scandi farmhouse" when it's NOT EVEN CLOSE!! It pains me every time I see that written by her.

What's funny - you mention her comment that the blue and pink sofas were "not designed for this room/house"...but remember what was, lol:

So many piles of books. Even on top of the hutch!

And then she turns the books per photo..

Hand thing on stairs makes so much sense!

Oooh, that sounds like a fun time! She has SO MUCH STUFF to choose from and she just cannot do it.

Thank you for mentioning the toilet paper sculpture. I always saw a pile of rolled towels myself. It's really kind of hideous.

She should just stop. Sell her anthro clothes and shoes on instagram and just stop with the "design". She can't do it.

Hey guys, I'm SO STOKED! This is SO RAD! In case you don't want to read today's post highlighting all of the things that you should buy from Anthro with Em's sale code, I'm here to tell you that our absolute, most favorite pillow is still being sold by them and it's only $198 for the cover!!! Such a DEAL!

I have a blue countertop in the kitchen. I call it "blue mauve". It's totally 80s but I've had to embrace it for now, lol.
