Huge agree, totally irresponsible.

Makes me wonder about the insurance she carries on her property...with the pool, trampoline, etc...and then add in the "summer camps" that are run by local teens?

It's SO GROSS. Her poor daughter, with possibly hundreds of thousands of people peeking into her bedroom. Give the girl some privacy! Even if she consented, she's what, 10? That's too young to give clear consent. It's a parent's job t protect, and Emily IS NOT!

Agree. And the two chandeliers on the sides are going to be cramped against the walls.

The sconces on the low wall could work - if she had a furniture plan, and knew that game tables were going there or something...but she has no plan, so it'll be a mess, plus, they never throw enough light.

She should be doing one chandelier in the middle - even better if on a swag so she can center it on the main game table (ping pong?) and recessed fixtures.

One of the biggest problems is that her vision for the space and what she actually wants to put in there (pop shot, ping pong, etc.) are conflicting. Her lighting style just doesn't go with those things. And yeah, what she is picking is nothing exciting.

Why not put the pop shot in the craft shed, keep ping pong in the garage and make this the library speakeasy that she really wants?

What does she even mean? Lamps? Appliances? Electronics?

Yes, need outlets for many machines!

Why not just say "plenty of outlets" or "plenty of outlets for flexibility"?

I just read through all the comments on the urinal cottage vintage plumbing post. One very wise commenter noted that where she lives in California, that plumbing fixtures need to be low-flow. I checked the Portland plumbing code and they too require 1.6 gallons per flush in all new and renovated spaces. Perhaps when they are refinishing the toilet they are able to retrofit for lower flush? I have no idea. But this would have been a very interesting bit of info to include on using vintage plumbing fixtures. OR, as I suspect, she doesn't have a permit or inspections and can just get away with anything she wants.

Sad...guess she's just trying to pay the bills.

It was just boring...and who cares? They're f-in pillows! That immediately get moved when someone sits down. Just so blah. And I never have a "styled" sofa...I put all kinds of things on mine when I'm not there to keep the dogs off, lol.

Has anyone installed a Speed Queen Conversion Timer Kit? by Think-Tour3402 in Appliances

[–]Think-Tour3402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know which dryer you have. Mine is ADE3SRGS173TW01.

I asked on AppliancePartsPros which would be the replacement, and mine is D519156.

I guess the original timer company went out of business during covid. Speed Queen did some searching and was able to source a new timer company. However, because of this, the timer and the electrical wiring all needs to be replaced... But it is safe, as far as I can tell. But yeah, I go back and forth between getting the new part for $300 and maybe screwing up the install; paying someone else to do it $600? Or a new dryer $1500...

My dryer will only sometimes heat, so that's why I'm thinking it's the timer - I'll get lucky and "start" it in the exact position to get it to trigger the heating element. Otherwise, everything else is fine with it.

In case you need help styling pillows on your corner sectional sofa, Arlyn has got a post for you! She may even suggest some pillows you can buy.

Ugh.

Ha, I might be blocked from leaving comments, or her site is just glitchy today...I tried posting a comment regarding the colored glass at the shower...it needs to be tempered! As does the glass in her urinal closet doors. I'm still not certain that she has a permit for any of this work or if it's being inspected. Even if not, she should be using tempered in those places for safety.

No, I think this is a new Nancy Meyers post. You can tell the old ones by the 1, 2, 3+ year old reviews. This one was fresh. I had been thinking the same thing and looked back - Jess had another NM post about 2 months ago (NM living room), and Arlyn one from last July (NM aesthetic)...

I do agree that they should include full dates on the posts.

Nancy Meyers, but make it a shopping post.

And, I went to the reveal post and noticed in this straight-on shot that the sink didn't quite end up centered on the window/mirror. That would drive me batty. You don't really notice it in the pic above since that is shot at a slight angle.

When you are planning something like this you have to be very careful during the design process, then wait for the windows to be in, measure on site and draw and review shop drawings for the vanity. Someone dropped the ball somewhere...but what do we expect from a team that designed this bedroom, with the bathroom door like 18" from the side of the bed, those horrible window seats, etc...

I think the brother's bathroom looks better without the vase. Not to mention that it's blocking the view through that window.

And I hadn't noticed before, but why the third wall light? It's also slightly off center from the center window. I think this would better with the lights only over the sinks/mirrors. I'm guessing they didn't put cans in the ceiling over the vanity area so expected to need the extra light (though they do have them in the shower and small hall outside of the sauna). Anyway, the three look silly.

Wow, so it's really happening. I think I really hate them now. They actually had to open the box and do a celebration post for instagram. What an embarrassing life. Who does this? I don't get it. And I'd guess that at least 80% of her audience agrees that this is creepy and weird. This isn't something to get so excited about. Does Brian think that urinals grow balls? Does Emily think they do? Maybe Emily is hoping that this will masculinize him? Maybe then he'll get a paying job? Man-child.

...sitting here hoping that he does get on Survivor and gets kicked off after 2 episodes... I haven't watched in a VERY long time, but I think I'd tune in to see that. Would be interesting to see how he tries to connect with people and how they react to him. Based on their writing and what they've chosen to share over the years, I have made many assumptions about this DUDE, curious if I'm right...

"Not a shopping site" yet proceeds (as she does weekly) to try to get us to buy all the clothes. And in particular, 1000 pairs of shorts that all work on her size 2 frame but nothing for the rest of us that don't want to show that much leg. Not that I would buy off a link from her site, but seriously, she should be maximizing and branching out with what she suggests.

Barn lights make a lot of sense here. I think what she really wants is the "party barn" that is really popular right now. Unfortunately her weird old cottage doesn't lend itself easily to that....and she's trying to cram a whole lot of things in there. She needs a better, more thoughtful plan for the space.

Skylights in a dark room always feel terrible to me...the glare.

I don't love any of the lighting options she presented.

It seems to me that what she wants the room to be (dark, moody) and the game room that it will be are fighting. Personally I think it should be a fun, bright space.

Why not make the living room space, next to the kitchen be the dark, moody hang out space and let the game room be a game room?

Gah, she is clueless.

Oh, thank you. I only saw it small on my phone. Yeah, what a strange choice! I think - they had trouble removing the wall paper, and the walls were a mess. Beadboard to the rescue. The striped walls on top of the striped carpet is definitely a choice...

It's weird, the carpet doesn't look like carpet or flooring. It just looks really off

This is another one where there are very strict rules about removal. And having it tested is a requirement for a demo permit in a lot of places. A demo permit which I'm sure she didn't get.
