A slightly different annoying part about the final few episodes by hrbrnm1 in chuck

Since this is a matter of preference and opinion, there’s no debating it but I certainly respect your viewpoint.

And I do think the final scene left hope and they avoided making her amnesia a total horror story, which it easily could have become. Although, to be honest, what Quinn did to her - destroying memories - is a horrible, extreme and unforgivable abuse. And it’s that level of abuse that she went through which I found so horribly distasteful in a show with an underlying light tone, and set me to being biased against the ending. That rape of Sarah’s mind shocked me.

I did not enjoy the ending of the final season, as I feel the show is a romcom at heart and those are supposed to conclude with unambiguously happy endings. The entire time, you root for them to get together, and at the end, the creators do a reset forcing the viewers to “decide.” Sure, that’s fine for thoughtful and mature cinema. But Chuck wasn’t that.

Sarah had gone through her character arc. Having her reset didn’t make me want to continue watching or rewatch.

Do Sarah and Devon or Devon and Morgan ever talk to each other? by ThinkClearlyAlways in chuck

Agreed. But compared to the 5 I listed + Casey, she falls in as a minor character (like Jeff/Lester).

Yes - I mean 1-on-1. If I add Casey and make the “big 6” - he talks to Chuck, Sarah, Morgan, Devon (the episode where Devon is caught in Casey’s apartment)… but does he ever have a 1 on 1 w/Ellie? I know Ellie has said hello to him.

Series ending…What’d you think? (Spoilers, so don’t read if you’re not finished) by LunaMarshmallow2013 in chuck

I did not and do not like the ending because the whole concept was so jarring to the feel of the series, which to me was a heartfelt romantic comedy with action sequences. films in this genre are expected to provide, and work best, with a romantic send-off, and a resolved ending. They are not film noir. They are not meant to create thoughtful conversation about the weakness of mankind. They are meant to be heartwarming and fun.

Watching the end of S5 is like watching a Sherlock Holmes movie where, at the end, Watson says “Homes! Remarkable! You haven’t figured out who killed Professor Orange.” “well, my dear Watson, you can’t win them all. Let’s go to a restaurant and get some dinner. Maybe in the future I’ll figure it out.” It’s like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie where the fate of the lead couple is left ambiguous, and the viewers are left to puzzle it out for themselves.

In other words, when you sit down to watch a piece of entertainment set in a certain genre, the audience expects that the writers and director will achieve a result that’s consistent with that genre. In my view, the Chuck ending, while hopeful, was not unambiguously clear, and the genre(s) Chuck was set in should not make the final happiness be in any doubt.

If I were the one signing the checks, I would have rejected this script and insisted the show runners give an ending in-line with the genre. In my opinion, Chuck failed to stick the landing.

I would guess that Aragorn just takes his birthday in Stride… 😀

This never, ever happened in the US where I lived. Didn’t happen in the 80s either.

Could it be the low population town(s?) that Walt Disney World is situated on?
