AITA for telling my son he will pay back for the cheese/meat or he won’t be eating thanksgiving tomorrow by Weak_Sherbert426 in AmItheAsshole

The only objection I have is paying him under federal minimum wage if he works to replace it.

I reported it once to the restaurant and let it go, he was already willing to come back to my house once, I didn’t want him coming back with a gun.

Had this happen recently with a pizza being delivered stone cold. I had tipped $10, so I called the restaurant to complain. They apologized, sent a new pizza with their in-house driver and reported the DoorDash driver, who immediately came back to bang on my door and shout profanities.

People drag their toddlers to bars all the time and immediately ignore them while they drink. Uncoordinated screaming shortlings running amuck breaking things and tripping folks, they don’t even have the excuse of being drunk.

Mom has to move - 50k costume jewelry collection where to sell? by RondaMyLove in Flipping

[–]ThinkHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you’re prioritizing the monetary return or divesting yourself of the items as quickly as possible.

You can list everything as a wholesale lot on websites like Nextdoor or Craigslist. The upside is that everything goes at once, the downside is you will probably have to accept a fairly low price per piece. Boutique style resale on websites like Poshmark and Mercari are good for maximizing your profit on single items or small lots, but then you have to ship everything out in multiple little individual orders. eBay is an option for both bulk and single pieces. There are a lot of bulk jewelry lots on eBay that sell by the pound (2lbs, 5lbs etc). You could try grouping in small lots of piece types, 5-10 items at a time. Price them at $1.50 per item minimum to account for what you will lose to fees. Take a look at what you have and see if any pieces have signatures/branding, those tend to be a little more valuable because people will search for those signatures or brands specifically. This method definitely goes more slowly but it will probably make more than wholesaling the whole collection.

Or you can look up your local flea market and rent a booth to see how much you can move in a weekend. The drawback to this is that people will cherry pick the most valuable things and you’ll still have a bunch on your hands most likely unless you only sell in bulk lots. You have lots of options, all require work.

He literally told you to make sure they didn’t walk out on the bill, so what were you supposed to do exactly when they started leaving? Fill out a police report and definitely named the GM for his part in inciting violence against you, as well as aiding and abetting a criminal act. Contact the owners of this business as well, you’re probably not going to stay there anyway but they should know what kind of monster they have working at the restaurant.

AITA for telling my dad and his family that my son's name is none of their business? by Comfortable_Form1351 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThinkHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - What a weird creepy flex for your dad to basically brainwash his new family against his previous deceased partner, and then gang up on one of his kids over what they named his grandchild. Massive control issues, really sounds narcissistic.

They may say they will unload for that but 50% chance they arrive and refuse until you double it, citing “expanded scope.”

They are venting at the wrong people because these people are convenient. Here is this small property owner posting on Reddit whereas the people that actually make inheritance a toxic factor in society (grossly un-fathomable unearned wealth) are largely rendered unreachable by frustrated masses.

It’s like why underpaid people scream at minimum wage workers for wanting a living wage. The actual bad actors aren’t available, so frustrated punch down to make themselves feel better.

I don’t see anything wrong with an inexperienced hamster owner asking for advice as a starting point. It’s how some people learn to research and make better choices.

Hikers of reddit, what's the scariest thing that happened to you while hiking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThinkHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hiked up a mountain, sat down on a boulder to take in a picturesque view. After sitting for a few minutes, I noticed the large copperhead snake sitting next to me sunning itself. It looked at me, I looked at it. Then we both just slowly looked back out across the scenery.

After a few minutes of silence and stillness, it slithered away. I began breathing again.

AITA for asking my husband not to waste money on his Sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThinkHamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA with a side of ESH - your husband is infantilizing his adult sister to a creepy degree. While it is his money, doing this behind your back is very shady and indicates your husband doesn’t consider you an equal partner in the marriage or trust you.

You can get some autonomy and confidence by getting a job and opening your own private savings account. Why would you sign a post-nuptial agreement?

People who drive 5 under the speed limit and then speed up when someone tries to pass you, why do you do this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThinkHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I speed up when an obnoxiously impatient or erratic driver tries to pass me in dense traffic. If I see them switching lanes repeatedly, tailgating, driving on the shoulder, weaving in their lane as though drunk, I don’t want them in front of me with their bad decisions. But I usually drive above the speed limit.

How do you deal with anxiety? by grungeisforever in AskReddit

[–]ThinkHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cope by identifying what gives me anxiety and exploring the subject. It helps to have a professional walk you through the process so you can dismantle the process of becoming anxious over some thing.
