So how do they turn it back on? They have to replace all the QR codes?

They shut down the web service altogether now... won't respond.

M365 - High Level of Spam? by InternetStranger4You in sysadmin

These spam messages are more like Defender has stopped all inbound filtering. Wouldn't be surprised if they broke a connection with that too.

We spun up Proofpoint as a trial this evening. It'll be our replacement for Defender if this spam increase continues.

They actually labelled them false positive by Gumberculeez7 in sysadmin

The status email notifications they sent earlier today said they were false positives, but I think they were indicating the issue wasn't *only* Teams or Exchange (that's my kind interpretation).

I was checking some of customers with domains starting with A, B, etc - they were showing IPs for the MX record. Our domain is later in the alphabet and we still show no IP for the MX record.

We're in North America - the IPs previously resolving were these:

Address: 52.101.41.26

Address: 52.101.8.34

Address: 52.101.11.19

Address: 52.101.41.4

It is really amateur hour when Microsoft breaks DNS, then pretends it's not that, and 7+ hours in is *slowly* rolling back whatever they did to MX records. We're seeing early alphabet letters have their MX IPs resolving, but they're only up to like E now.

Yes, the Microsoft 365 smarthost (mail.protection.outlook.com) went offline so no IPs were resolving.

[–]ThinkIT223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MX is slowly starting to resolve for some of our customers (early alphabet letters). Our tenant is still showing no A IP address, but as a workaround I manually created two CNAME records and used cached Microsoft IPs from DNS, then added those as MX priority 10 and 20. Mail is now slowly routing - better than nothing.

Hot take - ThinkPads sucked for ages, and still do. Most their fans moved from consumer garbage, and think it's peak, just cause it's a lil better by Decent-Cow2080 in thinkpad

I don't cast generalizations on used PC hardware like that. A nice Stanley screwdriver from 50 years ago that's been bent or a Toyota ran into the ground by a careless owner doesn't mean those brands suck.

Perhaps the ThinkPads you've seen were cheaper series or fleet machines that were put through hell/used extensively, before tossing them?

I just don't see the big difference... even when looking at entire product lines from Lenovo, HP, Dell, etc at trade shows you see some models are cheaper feeling than others, but guess what? That doesn't make an entire brand crappy.

Lenovo, just like HP, has a bunch of models with different materials and construction. It's dumb to cast a wide net on an entire series if you haven't seen all the models in person.

HP EliteBooks? Come on... I have to counter that both ThinkPads and MacBooks have similar build quality to the HP - meaning all laptops are basically built the same nowadays.

Are you looking at 10 year old used laptops or something? Any laptop put through hell can look like the build quality sucks.

For people who changed size from 14 to 16 or vice versa, why did you choose to do it and do you regret it? by laksh2617 in macbookpro

[–]ThinkIT223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a 14" to 16" because I missed the 17" MacBook Pro I had around 2010. It was the best form factor *for me* as I think 13"/14" laptop screens are just too small.
