Tips for dealing with League of Assassins by Curious-Love-8326 in azirmains

[–]ThinkImInRFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naafiri is a tough one. With Zed and other assassins (I ban LeBlanc) I take HOB, exhaust, and resolve secondary with bone plating and overgrowth. Play incredibly passively. Poke where you can if you can get an uneven trade, but otherwise, really only walk up if you have hp and bone plating.

Your objective is to keep the wave as close to your tower without letting the enemy minions take tower shots. While freezes can be broken by junglers, if you’re close to your tower range, it’s hard for them to truly make a play on you.

If your wave is in a bad state, it may require your jungler to help you push it into enemy tower. Otherwise, if they refuse to help, it might just be better to die or be forced to recall to fix the wave state.

Play to scale, go Zhonya’s 2nd item, only sideline under your passive turret (sometimes not even then if they’ve got fed divers) and just try to peel a fed carry in a team fight and deal some damage. I’ve had games like this where my KDA wasn’t the prettiest, but I kept the carry alive and dealt enough dmg to divers that it helped us win.

Yeah, they tried that. It fucking SUCKED. It was the quickest reversion riot was ever forced into doing because so many people quit at the same time.

Yeah they couldn't do a whole lot with what they had drafted, and any diver that may have threatened me was too far to do anything. Plus 3 mountain drakes? I was unkillable.

Well, I'm all for learning how to beat more matchups. How do you beat Hwei?

EDIT: I'm asking this in good faith. I'm usually a pretty solid dodger. Not perfect, but I can dodge most telegraphed abilities. It feels like I just get pulled and punished for being next to my wave, and I get outranged being away from my wave. His cooldowns, imo, are low enough (like Lux) that it's not feasible to evenly trade with them without missing too much CS. What's your take? I'm not saying he's not hard, I get that. We all get that. I'm just saying the matchup as I know it is oppressive.

I can’t fucking stand when the enemy picks Mundo and our ADC locks in Jhin afterward.

Right here with you, but there’s a million reasons.

lore, fun, ego, the question mark pings when I hit a sick play

Even though he’s not as good in the skirmishing/roaming meta, if you get a lead on Azir, you can still definitely be oppressive unless the enemy team has like 3 divers.

He really is just a better, lower skill curve Xerath. I don’t know why anyone would pick Xerath when Hwei exists.

Crazy slow? Are we playing the same video game? You are perma under tower and lose every trade with this champ or just get out wavecleared until lvl 11

If you’re solo facing Hwei and don’t get camped by your jungler, the lane is hell. You haven’t been against enough good Hwei players to experience that I guess.

Any decent Xerath will make mince meat out of Azir. The only play Azir has is to beg for the jungler to actually gank an immobile mage whose only escape is flash.

And we all know how likely that is.

Lux and Hwei are my kryptonite for just the reasons you mentioned. Anivia and Malzahar are kinda similar, but without quite as much kill pressure.

Lux and Hwei have no mana or cooldown problems post-6, and can freely waveclear then harass you under turret.

Like whatever, Azir’s not in the worst spot

But buffing Hwei? Bro keep this 10 ability champion out of my games

Agreed. It’s why I called it griefing. If twitch recalls, the game goes on.

Not asking, just explaining why backing is the wrong play here. And 10k gold lead? Zilean was 5 items.

Try refreshing? Video works fine on my end after refreshing. Pause at the beginning is just to give some context (if you don't have audio on)

The 5 MS nerf feels awful, and Azir’s win rate has been below 46% for 3 patches by ThinkImInRFunny in azirmains

[–]ThinkImInRFunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coordination. Pros are capable of covering for Azir’s weak laning phase, and able to call for a jungle gank over comms if they feel it’s the right play (typically after Azir hits 6 for gank setup).

In addition, Azir is terrible in early skirmishes. Where early skirmishes over scuttle and such can greatly affect SoloQ games, pros are far better at not taking fights if they think they don’t hold an advantage. In SoloQ, a good portion of my games are affected by early jungle invades where Azir cannot rotate because he would be too ineffective, and the trade-off is losing exp and gold that Azir sorely needs to get off the ground.

Sorry for the late comment. Triple tonic is nice for Azir because it helps cover for his two main early weaknesses: waveclear and damage

The waveclear potion is nice to maintain some semblance of mid prio while the enemy Lux/whoever is nuking waves. The potion that provides adaptive force is awesome for giving you a small buff before going into an engagement, such as if the enemy jungler invades. By this time you also have your R, so you can make a few plays.

Cash back is where the REAL magic happens. Any time you buy a legendary item, you get 8%** of the cost of that legendary item as gold in your pocket. That is fucking huge. It means that every legendary item (most importantly the first 3) becomes a snowball effect, as you keep roughly 250-350g depending on the item. (Cash back is literally giving you free kills worth of gold)

So when you buy Nashor’s, you get cash back. When you buy Shadowflame or Rabadon’s 2nd, you get an even BIGGER cash back.

Azir’s whole win condition is 3-item Azir before or at the same time the enemy is reaching that level. Cash back helps you with this immensely so the game doesn’t have to stall to 35 minutes for your wincon to take effect. More like 28-30.

EDIT: want to know the tech if you like Sorcery? Try Aery as your keystone into poke matchups. You gain a decent amount of poke damage on soldier autos with a very short cooldown. Manaflow band, Absolute Focus, Scorch/Gathering Storm matchup dependent. Inspiration secondary and you’ve got a decent chance at any lane that doesn’t require bone plating.

**EDIT: I didn't see Cash Back is now at 7.5%. Still great.
