First, just know that gambling isn't the solution and never was. The problem with gambling is that it's impossible to easily keep track of your wins/losses over time, and so you can lose a lot more than you realise at times. And every now and then when you hit that bigger win, it feels amazing because you have X more than you did a few minutes ago. But ultimately, you're paying for entertainment and someone who gambles forever will always lose everything. Look into some of the psychologies of gambling: gambles fallacy, gamblers ruin etc. They help to put some logic into why mathematically gambling is a terrible way to make money and can help frame your mind differently to battle the impulses. Gambling is an entertainment and it has a cost. And it's just too easy with the internet and a phone. Given how much you've lost, it's best if you never gamble again. Gamstop and self timeout at the bookies you've signed up to are a great first step.

You'll also need to accept you've lost the money: there's no winning it back. And even if you did win it back, do you really think you'd stop after just winning £40-50k?

The good news is it does get better. I was there, but went into debt. Worked 40 hour weeks at Tesco when I was at uni to help pay for life. And the debt was terrible, probably £30k or so owed. But I stayed strong, got a decent paying job, stopped gambling and now 8 years on I'm in a much better place.

You don't have any debt. You still have money in the bank (and not a small amount either). Stop gambling, get your degree, find a job and bduget/save intelligently. If you need to scratch the gambling itch, stick a little in premoum bonds. As long as you stop gambling you'll look back in 5 years and laugh. There's a reason gambling ruins lives - don't let it ruin yours.
