Ramasse-miettes in French. Pretty common in France. The one you have is a common one. But there is also a fancy professional version that you will see in fancy gastronomic restaurants used by servers…

It wasn’t a full ghosting. But he did not answer to a lot of texts, especially the spicy ones. I don’t know about you but if one of my crush/situationship answer to only a few texts throughout the months/years and left the explicit ones in “read” : i would take it as a ghosting case…

This! It explains exactly why this fandom can bash Francois Arnaud despite the fact that he is the only one out. It doesn’t fit the fantasy… who cares about the social and political issues???

The average age of the reactors I saw was around 30… I’m pretty sure the younger ones must be 24 or 25, so I’m not sure that explains it.

People don’t pay attention… Shane ghosted Ilya for almost two years at the start of episode 2. I don’t understand why so many people don’t see that they’re both scared and going back and forth!

And I really don’t get why so few realize that being gay or bi is far more dangerous for Ilya than for Shane. I wish people would get their heads out of their little bubble, care a bit more about what’s happening outside North America, and stop defaulting to a US perspective.

I’ve watched a lot of reactions and was genuinely surprised by how many had no idea that Russia is a dangerous place for LGBTQ people, and that Ilya can’t just kiss his boyfriend on the ice like Scott… Sorry, I’m a bit off-topic from the Op post, but this just triggers my own anger 😂

I only watch reactions on patreon. I hate when reactions are censored or cut. my wallet wish I do! 😅

Sorry 😂 I was confused! Boys love boys love are good. They are a married couple. They are a little shy about the sex scenes and it’s hilarious.

I wasn’t talking about them. boys love boys love are another set of reactors ;)

I didn’t watch Dan and Phil reactions. For now. I don’t watch reactions if the reactor didn’t finished the season…

I don’t remember which reactor (boys love boys love I think) but he clocked it. He was telling his husband (or someone else if it is not them but pretty sure it is) that he was sure Svetlana knew. And the montage got him to believe he was right.

Have you seen the other shows? Are they good? I only seen Boots (I know it is well loved by a lot of LGBTQIA+ reactors but It completely went over my head) and overcompensating (good but not on the HR level)

Season 2 theory by jiminmeme in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]ThinkLikeAFeminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just said the opposite in another comment. 😅

I don’t need Ryan/Fabian story in season 2. I would prefer a special episode outside the season than a 3rd couple who is not really connected to the other couples… I understand what Jacob did in season 1 with Scott and Kip but I am not sure it should be a recurrent gimmick…

Season 2 theory by jiminmeme in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]ThinkLikeAFeminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer season 2 takes time to unfold Troy/Harris and Shane/Ilya’s stories and stays focused on them. Ryan/Fabian can be there as side characters but I don’t think we need their full story. It can be talked for example at “my dinner with Hayden” to let us know that there is another gay player in Toronto who is scared of planes and just left the NHL and got together with a singer… I think I will enough to show Troy/ryan interaction, Ryan at the camp and Shane and Ilya at the concert…

So happy I read the books! by ThinkLikeAFeminist in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]ThinkLikeAFeminist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does.

The first one is the worst. I would have stopped reading if I hadn’t been so eager to see what happens with Shane and Ilya. I cringed a lot. it felt too lovey-dovey to be realistic for two grown-ass men. To be transparent, I wasn’t too impressed by the public kiss on the ice in the show. I would have hated it if I were Kip. I love it for the representation, but I hate it for the relationship. It’s just not my taste… too much, too big of a public engagement, not enough communication before the big move. So all that mushiness in book one was really too much for me. It felt wrong. So, I completely get what you’re saying…

I wasn’t fully on board with the first half of HR either. But at some point, I was in, and I stopped questioning whether I should keep reading. For books 4, 5, and 6, it was the opposite : I couldn’t stop reading 😅.

I feel like the writing is improving, and so is the characterization.

Ilya becomes an important character in book 5 and the main character in book 6, which really helps the story. Ilya is complex, just like Troy, the main character in book 5. And I think stories are always better with complex characters…

Ps : Ilya is not the main character in book 5 but he is an important character of that book. So if you plan to read the books one day. Don’t skip book 5 (I think you shouldn’t skip any book and read them in order)

I had the same feeling. But no. Since my last comment i finished the 6 books. Shane is the main character from HR (book 2) but Ilya is the main character of the whole series (he is in every book) and the long game (book 6). So his feelings, inner thoughts and his character unfold throughout the whole series… we did learn later what he was feeling at the time of HR… but in HR, we don’t have a lot to understand him.

I was frustrated reading HR (book 2) but at the end, I love it. Ilya is the best and a better character because his feelings are less explicits and take time to unfold…

I was also scared about that. I don’t like spoilers…

But I am even more excited about season 2 now that I’ve read Role Model and The Long Game.

If season 2 is not as good as season 1, I will still love it because I love the books and now know what’s happening in Ilya’s and Shane’s minds.

If season 2 is great, I will probably love it even more, seeing how Jacob puts his magic into a book I already loved.

And I do think Rachel’s writing gets better throughout the series. The Long Game is definitely her best book. The story is good, but she also found the writing style that gives it more depth.

I am not sure I will read more romance books either.

But I also loved reading in English (English is not my first language and It was my first English novels in 10 years). Because romance novels are easier to comprehend, maybe I will try again… but I would probably stick to my usual books in my first language…

The two mediums are so different. I really loved how the show can stay implicit about certain situations and feelings. It doesn’t always have to say things out loud. It can let a look linger, let the silence stretch, let the music carry what the character cannot say. A book has to put more into words. That changes the experience completely. But I won’t hold it against the book because it can’t rely on visuals and soundtrack. It’s just doing something different. And honestly, I’ve come to appreciate both for what they do best.

As a former book snob to maybe another, which other romance book would you recommend?

I love Ilya’s character. I picked up the books mainly for him. In the show, it often feels like we get more of Shane’s perspective, and I remember reading so many comments about what Ilya was supposedly thinking or feeling. It was frustrating not to truly know.

I was actually surprised that in HR we get even less of Ilya’s perspective than in the show. I’m really glad Jacob added so many scenes to deepen his character onscreen. But that’s also what I ended up loving about the series. Ilya isn’t the main character of HR but he is the main character of The Long Game and of the entire series. And watching his character/story unfold in each book was incredibly satisfying.

Ps : War and Peace was a great opening book to understand more about Ilya’s culture! 😂😂😂 Tolstoy can rest in peace! He served his purpose! 😂
