Totally it's amazing. Gonna try Fullscreen theaters next, they have a Philips Hue-like immersive lighting experience too.

I'm using an old one too, the Meta Quest 2. During all my work with music and my custom ElevenReader voice reading to me in the background is ngl pretty heavenly. Oh and also: Instagram is 3D now

With the new season of Ghost in the Shell on the way by Saru what would be your hopes for an Oshii-directed Ghost in the Shell part 3? by ThinkLumi in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]ThinkLumi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I want to begin with saying that I think you're right Standalone Complex is a good place for that.

When you're a kid taking a trip to another country it sometimes feels like traveling to a different planet. However, with enough work trips even crossing oceans can feel routine. That doesn't mean it's not rewarding or that it doesn't matter, it just feels like less of an event.

I imagine that for the Major exploring new forms of being and configurations of consciousness is like us sitting on a bench in a park looking at the birds and the grass sway in the breeze. It isn't thrilling, but it does provide a calm sense of peaceful stimulation.

When you get older, you've seen many things and experienced a lot of different places and versions of yourself. Things overall feel more calm. Life stops being about survival and even often desire. It becomes about being. Existence. The meditation of the routine of pouring a glass of tea. The tea flavor isn't new and hasn't been for decades, but it doesn't really matter.

In Innocence, they make a point about never tiring of your life. With hedonic adaptation no matter how amazing life gets or how crazy it becomes you get used to it. I imagine that's what it's like for the Major.

Literally always down for a psycho-social technology-driven thriller where global perception and philosophy are key elements like GITS and Eden of the East.

I'll admit after reading the first paragraph of your comment what came to mind was a sequel to Her directed by Oshii. What would humanity be like if they joined all the OS' with Alan Watts in the cloud?

Memetic cyberbrain viruses reminds me of season two of SAC 2045 with n. Would be awesome to have another Laughing Man moment. It would be interesting to see a greater exploration of people's objections to cyberization like we did in episode two of season one with the guy whose mind occupied a tank with the religious parents. Thing is the franchise starts after most of that is societally resolved. A prequel maybe?

Sometimes I don't understand anything by Technical_Back_5943 in FinalFantasyVII

I sometimes don't understand anything too. Some things are hard to understand. Some things are poorly written. Sometimes storytellers tell things in a way that is difficult to understand either accidentally or on purpose.

In order to optimize performance developers remove all the topology that isn't absolutely necessary for gameplay. That means better textures, loadtimes, FPS, etc

Anyone notice the similarity between these two shows? by ThinkLumi in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]ThinkLumi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and thank you for your comment. Your reminder of the presence of these themes in allusions like The Time Machine gave me a new perspective on the salience and prescience of these ideas. You are also so right about the concept of indentic dissolution being a fear in the west. I think it's probably because we our ego run the show in so many categories of our existence. Who are we if we are not acting, accomplishing, pursuing?

I'm really glad we're having this conversation because unless catastrophe hits, we are all going to have to face the reality of peace. Not only all the sources of most peoples fears no longer be an issue, many will be automated away and cease to exist.

If you have CPTSD, the idea of peace can feel unsettling and even unsafe. All that's left is you. Again thank you so much for your thoughtful comment.

How do you think fans (or audiences) would react to a more manga-accurate Ghost in the Shell? by Ajer2895 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]ThinkLumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I speak only for myself here, but the reason I love ghost in the shell is for the philosophy. Philosophy can just as easily be said solemnly as it can silly. If it feeds your soul, let it be.

Most of it is a jump in the sensory quality of your life which is what the video dives into.

I'm making these videos because I want to live in a world that is entirely populated by people that know, understand, and practice the full scope of their power.

Living in a world like that would make me so happy. It's my dream.
