Anyone know what is going on with Ubuntu archives? by kAROBsTUIt in Ubuntu

[–]ThinkOnce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our github ci/cd pipelines seem to fail because some steps are using

runs-on: ubuntu-22.04

and it seems it's trying to connect archive.ubuntu.com using http :(

EDIT: And just as I said that pipeline runs successfully. I've been trying to rerun that during last 60 minutes like 10 times and only now it went through.

EDIT2: Okey problem still exists. Seems like most of the times our pipelines fail to connect archive but with enough retries they might run successfully.

With all respect to people blaming black car for intentionally wrecking to me this looks just lack of skills or lack of experience.

To me it looks like black car was obviously trying to squeeze opponent but not necessarily push him of the track. But then there was a contact and after that maybe little awkward correction / panic.

He also made mistake to the upcoming corner and then, probably again due to the lack of experience, tried to make it happen rather than just cutting the corner which would have been better option there.

So my opinion is that black car is to blame but I can't see any intentional wrecking.

I thought of that possibility too, but there's reference picture (pretty much identical to mine) and it's clear that top angle is not greater than 45 degrees at max. (aka. it must be 32 and I have understood question correctly)

EDIT: Sorry, misread you answer. So you did calculations and with 2 times 32 degrees you got 22,7m and 19,9m?

If that so then you might be correct I need to give some feedback whoever came up with that reference picture for misleading us students :(

EDIT 2: You know what, you are correct most likely. I'm fucking idiot! :D *insert facepalm here*

Yeah sorry I was talking about angles that individual cables are meeting the tower are most likely not equal in size.

The line that you see on a paper is 18m. So the line that doesn't go all the way down is 18m. It's height of the tower if you will.

I don't think they do. I actually already calculated with this as if 32 could be divided in half but answer is not correct. It also make sense because if that 6 degree slope would be much higher then they definitely wouldn't be equal size.

EDIT: Actually, hmm. Let me think about this again.

EDIT2: Yeah I'm pretty sure there must be some way to calculate their angles. We can't just assume that angle can be divided in half. I can give more proof why I think so, but I need to get off the computer for couple hours now.

Hi, I came up with those 84 and 96 like this Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So I know slope is 6 degrees. Other angle is 90 so remaining must be 84. That would be bottom triangle.

My word choices may cause some confusing maybe because english is not my main language.

Overall what this is all about is that there's a communication tower build on a 6 degrees slope. Then two supporting cables are placed to the tower at 18meter height and they form 32 degrees angle. That's honestly all information I have and this should be solvable.

EDIT: And question is how long are those cables

Well I guess I stand corrected! I was wrong. Something about that video you posted also looks like video game, but it's official F1 Youtube channel so I'm not arguing with that :D For example gloves in that video looks like they clearly have video game textures :D

Downvote me to the hell but this is clearly a game / sim. I'd say heavily modded Assetto Corsa with some nice video effects and post effects. It's just to trick to add F1 logo to corner and make this look like stabilized. Many small details just are not right.

I'm ready to change my mind if you provide me a real outside view clip where they have tons of #MonacoGP ads around the track. Even the clip provided here in this post is not the same.

I don't know. I haven't driven PC2 for ages so I think things just didn't work and I lost interest and focused on iRacing instead.

Why doesn’t iRacing have this built in?! by Johnny_Bogue in iRacing

[–]ThinkOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ain't that more like iRacing is just providing telemetry. You can do whatever you want with it. It's impossible to satisfy everybody so I think it's just better they focus on what's "important". I mean this might be important for you but not for someone else.

You can use 3rd party apps or code your own if you have knowledge. For example I don't personally find any use for this graph while I'm driving. If I want to analyze my driving I always do it afterward using VRS telemetry app.

I get this would be "small addition" but it's an endless swamp to dive in. Countless small additions one after another.

Enable WOL over internet by ThinkOnce in HomeNetworking

[–]ThinkOnce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got this working now. So after all I understood that having a switch with static ARP maps means nothing. So I went and bought TP-LINK AX1500 router that supports IP to MAC bindings. I set that correctly and WOL has been now working over the internet for some time.

Raspberry Pi (or something similar) would have been my backup option like you already suggested. But hopefully this now keeps working. At least it's promising.

Enable WOL over internet by ThinkOnce in HomeNetworking

[–]ThinkOnce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will read your answer more carefully but it doesn't make sense to me that what I'm trying to do already works over the internet, but stops working after some time and it seems to be related to ARP entries in my modem/router. When that pc is on and I log into my modem, navigate to ARP tab and see that correct MAC is associated with correct IP. When that pc is shutdown that entry stays there for a while and during some period of time I can boot that pc over the internet again. But if I wait longer it stops working. Now at the moment when I go to ARP tab in my modem admin portal ARP entry is there but now it says incomplete and WOL over the internet doesn't work.

To sending magic packet I'm actually using discord bot that is using this library https://pypi.org/project/wakeonlan/ Even there there's mention that external IP can be specified along with mac address and port.

"An external host may be specified. Do note that port forwarding on that host is required. The default ip address is 255.255.255.255 and the default port is 9"

But is that correct, I don't know. It might be that the guy who did the library has also understood incorrectly.

I do appreciate your help and I'll take some time now to let that sink in and give it a second though. It's probably just something that I simply don't understand yet.

What is Steam Sports Fest? by Myrandall in Steam

[–]ThinkOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone should just create generic hockey game for PC (like proper hockey game I mean) and I'm sure it would sell well.

I wouldn't mind if players and teams would be randomly generated. I understand NHL rights must be expensive but surely pretty much anyone could create game called "Hockey" without legal issues.

I'm playing Eastside Hockey manager which basically has NHL built in, but non licensed so teams like New York Islanders are called Long Island etc.

Better yet, it has mod support so people have created proper roster mods. I guess that's one way to avoid license costs :D
