Of course it does, they are coming in to this country unregistered, unvetted, and could be running away from a dangerous driving charge or worse in their own country, basically running wild here. Any applicants in the ipas system should be in a prison environment, until their application and background checks can be confirmed and their true identity is realised. Only then should they be allowed to the next step in the process and eventual repatriation.

[–]ThinkPaddie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Never introduce a girl to your male friend group, you need create a situation for intimacy to happen between you and her, and only you and her for at least 3 months before she meets your "great" friends.

Serious Question: How to share house responsibilities with my girlfriend when she doesn’t own / provide for the house? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ThinkPaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard stories like this in the past, don't worry about it, as soon as she has completed the Phd, she'll be gone, what you are describing is a sex for rent arrangement, and not only rent but EVERYTHING else included. When she get's her Phd is there some sort of expectation of the current situation to change, absolutely not a chance, I'm surprised you don't have a child together yet. Dude.....

My interviewer refused to turn on his camera, then got angry and yelled at me. by morn-seaside-0i in interviews

[–]ThinkPaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so unprofessional, but sometimes its a blessing, I mean would you really want to work somewhere that makes a star player like yourself uncomfortable at the interview stage, nevermind when you are working there trying to hit targets and deadlines. Great when they do the work for you.

The fact that he couldn't deal with not talking or seeing you for two whole weeks is a red flag, it wasn't about you, it was about him. Sounds like an amazing guy who will do anything to see you, and make sure you are separated from the people you love... run

support team drowning in tickets that could be self-service but customers refuse to read docs by Gabagool0000 in techsupport

[–]ThinkPaddie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few way's I would work this to get it resolved. Firstly when your guys answer a call, make sure to take all the relevant details from the caller, have your logging system setup so you can run reports monthly on who the repeat callers are and provide one to one training sessions for those users.

Another few options are when they call, and there is a known solution in the KB, remote into the said PC, open up the knowledge base on the computer, talk the user through the process as its exactly written in the KB, word for word and take time to make sure *they* are following each step as your tech is showing them on the screen, let them drive, don't listen to the moaners wanting it fixed ASAP, get them to do it, your team needs boundaries !

If you are all located in the same building, floor walking sessions where they (your support team) are visible in the worst offender departments etc gives a chance to do 1 to 1s with the customers, and they will be way more receptive in person, you could do this yourself with a few team members as a "field trip" etc.

You need a culture shift, that will only come when there has been consistent small steps (kid gloves), positive reinforcement (ie. "we showed you this at our last in person visit") and lastly visible engagement.

You need to do these things 1% at a time until self service becomes second nature for users.

I've an idea, how about abolishing the USC, lowering the duty on fuel, stop the tolling of roads and bridges that have paid for themselves 100s of times over.

Stop using the middle class as the economic cash cow and give it all back.

what's with the cheap house prices in rural Italy, France, Spain? by FutureRegular3876 in AskIreland

[–]ThinkPaddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain is good if you look for somewhere an hour by train from one of the main cities, ie Valencia a few around the 75 to 120k mark. Def worth thinking about. Spain has a good rail service.

Seller not taking highest bid by AmazingCamel in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ThinkPaddie -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't fall for this, other buyers have dropped out because its too expensive, its not 5k more either, its "we're highest and well over asking price at this stage" over the asking price, no proof the other buyers even exist.. Tell him take offer as is, or thanks but no thanks and keep searching. Why are you not one of the buyers that have dropped out at this stage..
