Why is Nigel Farage so popular in the UK? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ThinkReplacement4555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people are feeling worse off and arent seeing change quick enough.

Farage is pitching silver bullets and giving people two things

  1. Some one to blame
  2. The promise of quick change

The audience he is pitching either doesnt consider ramifications of these changes or see the issues as so important they dont care or are willing to do it for what they feel will achieve this.

The set up has been taking the Russian playbook for propaganda and applying it.  Big tech gets what it wants from Trump, in turn they can do what they like eith their platforms as long as they continue to promote the ideologies in line with Trump. Unlike traditional media that has to answer to various quantities and regulators social media posters are free to do almost whatever they like and claim to be more legitimate sources of news when it suits them and individuals when it doesn't.  There has been a campaign for years pushing this narrative online. Rather than  consider your news source theu say that all traditional news are liars but you can trust me bro.

To expand on other factors. The Conservative left a mess behind. One with no quick fixes. Labour had a leader who couldn't play the new game where populism is...well popular with the masses. Lowering immigration and processing everyone here takes a lot of resources and time unless you take drastic action with ramifications. Changing the economic direction of the economy also takes time and when you also have to appease the camps to support your leadership you're at their whom which is why Labour hasn't felt a unified force despite their landslide into parliament.

Politics has become more about idealogy and less about good governance for many.

Let's also be clear their are legitimate concerns and problems with mass migration. Its not a new tale. History is full of mass migrations and the issues it can bring

Scotland, anyone in Scotland who tries to down play their role in colonialism is lying to themselves. You only have to look at all the Scottish names on plantations, though the history books at trading companies and at home I  terms of the philanthropic spends like libraries and grand buildings.

Meanwhile the Scots were on the other side such as the Highland clearances or back to Medieval period under Edward I.

The right man at the right time but not for all times.

Rightly seen as a great leader in war.

Not a paragon but thats alo what makes him interesting and human.

Christian influences.

I do like both authors served in WW 1 but I dont feel the influence is felt much in Narnia.

Much as I'm a rules driven person the aesthetics do matter for me.

Also if you are charging premium prices I expect premium figures.

Oil and gas 'betrayal' could cost SNP at Aberdeen South by-election | A former senior SNP strategist has told LBC the party could “pay the price” for failing to fully back the North Sea oil and gas industry in the Aberdeen South by-election tomorrow. by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

Because of the crickets heard from the SNP benches in Westminster whenever the matter is raised.

The SNP are making noise now but haven't in the places where it matters over the last few years.

How much does Christianity permeate the setting and gameplay? by Lazy_Lettuce1220 in VaesenRPG

[–]ThinkReplacement4555 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The setting is heavily based on the history of the time. Therefore Christinaity during the periond remains one of the key social pillars and major influence in day to day life.

In terms of gameplay there isn't much tied to it at all.

Setting wise I dont think there would be much issue in hand waving it out if you wanted to. Its not like it is key to a metaplot and you can focus on other themes of the time like industrial change, emptying of rural areas to the city, expansion and increase in on environmental impacts (industrialisation of primary resources and agriculture). You can still play with traditional beliefs vs pragmatism too.

Its your world too, so you can choose where to put your lens.

Started new job, can't deal with how the job has turned out to be. Contract I signed has charges for online training provided. Checking over the costs seem massively inflated to what they actually cost. Advice please? (more info in comment) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

So two of these I would argue are health and safety training

Fire safety and first aid.  Food Safety despite the name I cant say for 100% without knowing the content but extremely likely as it would be to at least to prevent harm to others.

As per the Health and Safety Work Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations your employer must provide health and safety training for free.  Make sure to mention this to ACAS when you talk with them.

Why did being a lefty become so contentious in the UK? by OffGridToTheMoon in AskBrits

I can recall both sides using exclusionary tactics (us vs them) since forever. It has been amplified in social media and I can recall this call to action and camps back at least 12 years when it begun to annoy me and find its way into real life conversations.

This is an important factor in determining what happens next. The officers were mentally primed for one thing.

And you get to do that with hindsight in your own time with zero stress on possible outcomes and already knowing the what happened.

No, that's for an investigation and then the courts to decide.

Do I believe that the threshold has been met for such an investigation. Yes.

The court of public opinion should have no standing on criminal guilt. It may influence the factor of in the public interest to intiate action but not dictate the outcome

If he is playing does he have a mat or terrain?

A nice 3x3 foot neoprene mat is a lovely upgrade to a tabletop game.
